    Tip: the easiest way to change network adapter settings is 1) open control panel by searching for control, 2) serach for Network and click on Network and Sharing Center and 3) click on adapter settings.

    Downloaded the trial and did a couple of tests on this very plug-in. Sitting on the fence as to whether to pull the trigger and purchase it. I found that the mouth doesn't really capture well, although the upper part of the face comes through not bad. Like your demo, I tried a very old webcam (Microsoft LifePro Studio HD - a gift from a friend around the start of the pandemic so we could all stay in touch online). I was surprised how well it worked. Even lighting is important, as part of my face was illuminated by exterior sunlight and the motions on that side of the face was more pronounced. I also tried a video recording from an old iphone5 that I have and it worked (after converting it to an mp4 video. .mov file wouldn't come over by default). This demo is very timely, thanks for sharing your findings!

      You're welcome! I went ahead and bought it too, and I'll pit it against the more expensive iPhone depth camera thing when I get a chance. I've been meaning to try this out with iClone and Unreal Engine, let's see which one works better.
      Like you, I've also tried using video footage recorded from my better webcam, but haven't had much luck converting it. For one, believe that if Windows can play a video file, every app should be able to utilise the same codecs - and that's not the case. I WILL NOT install 50bn+ codecs from some dodgy third party website to hack something into working that should out of the box. AVI did work (albeit only in SD), but the playhead reaches the end of the window before the video is over and I could never complete a take. Teething problems I'm sure, but my first impression is that videos are a hot mess.

    I bought this when it came out, but I didn't get the trial. I found that setting preferences to quick mode rather than medium reduces the animation lag considerably when previewing and recording.

    There are a number of webcam facial mocap programs coming out of the shadows at the moment. A year from now there will be many to choose from at affordable prices. Accuface hasn't worked well for me, and yes, I've seen the "smooth edited" vids too. For the moment I'll stick with the iPhone (I'd like to see a standalone IR cam). I will watch this vid with interest. Thanks.

    Hello Jay! This is a great video as all of your videos are! I was wondering if you know of a way to export high quality textured figures from Character Creator 4 or IClone 8 with poses, clothing and hair back into Daz Studio? Best to you, love your channel! The FBX export from CC and IClone seems to offer and export to everything but Daz... I get a memory exception error trying to import the CC and IClone FBX files into Daz.

      Thank you! To be honest, going from iClone into Daz Studio is going to be a nightmare to make it functional. The materials alone would be the equivalent of creating custom skin presets, and clothing would mean re-rigging and fixing every single item. I would strongly advise against it due to the time it takes to make it work. You're better off transferring to Unreal Engine for rendering, it's a single click. UE has a path tracer like Iray if you're after extreme realism, but the real time renderer is really good I've never needed it.
      If you're happy with static figures and poses, you could export as OBJ with a full set of PBR textures and render that in Daz Studio. Is that an option?

      Your advice is very helpful! The hesitancy I am having with using Unreal is I have not found a way to get instances to export to Unreal and align in place. A lot of my scene objects are embedded in instances. i.e. Ultra Scenery and other environments. I suppose I could unpack them and find a way to repack them once in Unreal. Are you familiar with that process of making instances in Unreal? If so, could you possibly make a tutorial on that, exporting instances from Daz to Unreal? Thank you for your advice! Much appreciated! @@WPguru

      That's true, instances can be hit or miss with the bridge. There's a tool I use called Instances to Geometry by Code66, it will convert existing instances in Daz Studio to full geometry. Once transferred to Unreal Engine, everything is an instance automatically and it often works out well.
      Having said that, Unreal Engine has far superior tools for creating foliage compared to Ultra Scenery, so I wouldn't recommend trying to send the latest Martin J Frost collection over to your UE scene when you can pick up a Megascans pack with animated trees and grass. I'm planning to make some shorter videos about the foliage tools, but you can see how I'm using them in a live stream: ua-cam.com/users/livebinSmn5fbOg?si=KL9gmqrxJcsC-EpE&t=3608 Skim through and see if it's something you're interested in.

    How does this compare to faceware realtime and the iPhone live face app? Thanks!

    • @WPguru
      @WPguru  3 місяці тому +1

      I've never tried Faceware RT, but in comparison to the iPhone thing (which I have tried and like), AccuFace SUCKS! The real processing is actually happening through AccuLips after the fact, not with the AccuFace app. I'm not sure Reallusion make the capture app, I have a feeling that's provided by NVIDIA. And man is it terrible, even with a properly working web cam. I've also tried capturing existing video, and aside from the fact that it needs a very specific codec that isn't installed in Windows by default (like WHY?), the playhead doesn't see the end of a video clip properly so it's a complete mess. I cannot in good faith recommend AccuFace. If you can, get the iPhone version instead.

      Thanks! It’s the Double Triangle Diner by Dekogon, you can get it from the UE marketplace, but it’s also part of this crazy good bundle: www.humblebundle.com/software/unreal-engine-asset-bonanza-software?partner=wpguru

    I've only tried the trial versions of iClone and CC3 but they seem really nice.
    Before I buy any software I need to replace this ancient PC I'm working on. Christmas is coming maybe someone will buy it for me (Who am I kidding!)
    Accuface looks pretty cool though.

    Why is my jaw tracking so unstable?

    • @WPguru
      @WPguru  5 місяців тому +1

      I hear you! Even with a good web cam and good lighting, I find AccuFace extremely unreliable. Most of what makes it look good actually happens through AccuLips through the audio file, not through it's live tracking algorithm. It's a very flawed product, but I guess we get what we pay for. The iPhone tracking thing they have is far superior to this.

    Nvidia only?

    • @WPguru
      @WPguru  10 місяців тому +1

      Yes, it's NVIDIA only. They're using some AI magic that's powered by RTX cards (20xx series is the minimum requirement).
