Approach Your 2-5-1s This Way

  • I use my own chord progression theory to lay out an easy way to understand and practice your 2-5-1s.
    You can alternate between a v1 chord and a v2 chord to get this result pretty easily. Voicing 1 or v1 chords have the 3rd of the chord as the bottom note and voicing 2 or v2 chords have the 7th of the chord as the bottom note. Please consider the note I give about 7th chords being converted to 13th chords. This exercise can be a tool used for gaining new chords that can be used and developed in many scenarios.

      He’s just showing voicing. It could be applied to autumn leaves… but it’s just a voicing lesson re: 2-5-1. would apply to most, nearly all, standards
