Every rays fan who has been watching the team for years will tell you this did not happen overnight. The Archer trade, signing Franco & trading for Randy, they’ve made so many incredible moves over the past 5 years to position themselves for a real championship window. Rays teams of the past have always had a gimmick vibe to them. This team has a mean streak/edge to it that the league is not going to want to face in October. They look like the real deal.

@@dustindodds4827 yes. A lot of fools saying is only because we haven't played good teams.
Dude the hitters in this team are not chasing. That was put biggest problem in previous years.
Now , even when we don't hit, we put competitive at bats.
For example, in 2022 the way pivetta was pitching, walls brujan and zunino would be 0 - 4 with 3 Ks each.
Now, for example, even the players that don't get hit like benthancourt, he won't 0-4 or 1-4 but worked him to full counts and competitive at bats.
This team is for real this year.
Even randy he's striking out like 15% less this year

To add to the points you made near the start comparing basketball and baseball: you can field a star player in basketball for most, if not all 48 minutes in regulation time; meanwhile, a star baseball player only bats once every 9 batters, and an elite starter pitcher only starts once every 4-5 days. These differences help contribute to the upsets we see every year come playoff time, which make every series a fun watch.

I worked for the Rays organization in Venezuela for over 10 years. Before that, I worked with Houston, along with Andres Reiner, who later took me to the Rays. There is a million miles between each team in regards to appreciation for the staff, compliance with what was agreed upon and so many other aspects, that made me fall in love with the Rays organization, even the "big guys" back then (about 6 to 7 years ago), I am referring to Chaim Bloom, now General manager of the Red Sox, and so many others, made me feel like I belonged. Those guys made sure I knew the great job that was being accomplished. Back in those days (not so long ago), great talent was signed in the farm located in Guacara, Venezuela. Names like German Marquez (traded to Colorado), Alvarado (now with the Phillis), Omar Narvaez (now with the Mets), Chirinos (still with Tampa), Rene Pinto (currently in AAA, being called up many times during the 2022 season), among others who are still working hard to make it. There is no comparison......I mean, the vision Rays staff has, scouting every minor league team of other organizations and getting players underrated by those organizations is just awesome, not to mention the hard work and constant adjustments they are capable to teach the new comers, just turn most of them into diamonds....Today, all that patient work is certainly paying off. I must admit that I felt a bit disappointed when it was very clear that the Rays were not going to sign one or two proven batters to boost their offense.....they knew that most of last year players, injury free, were going to be at their best, also adding Lowe and Raley in the lineup was going to have an impact......Rays philosophy of baseball is unmatched by any other team in MLB, no matter the abundant resources they might have to sign anyone. I know it’s really early to predict, but Rays fans like me, are enjoying this moment to the fullest....

Reds fan here. Its been nearly 4 hours since the Reds defeated the Rays 8-1 in the first game of a 3-game series in Cincinnati. But, I'm not here to gloat. I like how you broke down some of the Rays' payroll. I know that the Reds have been taking a similar approach for years, but without results approaching anything near what the Rays have achieved to start this season. It's how a team responds after a game like the loss to the Reds that show that team's character. And, I like what I saw with the Rays! They didn't hang their heads, they didn't show defeat with their body language. It's a shame that the Rays don't draw fans at home any better than they do, because this team is worth the effort to drive over to that dome that they play in and watch a few of their games!

They're 11 games in and haven't played a game against a team that is projected to finish in the top half of the league, with three opponents projected to finish bottom 25 in the league. I am pretty sure they'd look _at best_ slightly better than LAD, ATL, MIL, or NYY if they played similar schedules. That stuff aside, they deserve praise, and the stats in the video are impressive regardless of their schedule.

As a long time rays fan I think a big factor to our players is that they feel wanted a lot of these guys were nobody’s so far down other teams rosters just there for a paycheck then they get brought to a team that believes in them and let’s them play ball there’s just something special about that if I were a player that would motivate me more than ever I mean think about it a couple years back people who weren’t rays fans didn’t even know some of these guys existed

I disagree. I think this team is Uber talented regardless of where they play, they’re just putting it all together because the pieces finally aligned.
A lot of our young players got major experience in the WBC. Issac Parades, Arozarena, Rameriez, even aranda played some. We were actually healthy to start the year which was a major issue last year

    • @josechristian9513
      @josechristian9513 Рік тому

@@jakestakes9075 I never said our team wasn’t talented it’s the fact that the organization gave them a chance to compete and play ball finding the diamond in the rough we’re often so focused on the stars like trout or ohtani that we forget how much hidden talent is out there our players aren’t flashy like the top stars but they get the job done and are very versatile everyone is on the team for a reason

Jays fan here. I hope you guys get more fan support. I was surprised to see that TB is 5th worst attendance avg this year so far. The 13-0 start should help. Good for baseball in TB and baseball in general. If this does not ignite fan support then management needs a better marketing team or the Rays need to move. If this does not do it then you might just have to win the World Series to gain this support which is unfair. All the best..well 2nd best...😉. Youve earned it with your low payroll.

If there is one thing the Rays do well its develop talent and poach other people's talent as they are about to be major league ready (not necessarily top prospects, some a little older). Their front office/farm system is what everyone should strive for!

They have 10 hitters with an OPS over 869, and multiple ace pitchers (not even including Glasnow when he gets back from injury). The offense is obviously not sustainable, but it's very promising. The pitching is absolutely legit, and I don't expect it to falter much throughout the season

They're a young, fun team that has been impeccably well run over the years. The Lightning is the cities team and it's playoff time, but I hope people start turning up to some games.

Baseball just doesn't have a hard cap, spend over a certain amount on player salaries and your team will have to pay tens of millions in fines. That's generally enough to keep all but a handful of teams from exceeding that limit.
