For the first time since the Japanese leg of Yes' Union tour in March 1992, Jon Anderson, Trevor Rabin, and Rick Wakeman launched a 2016/2017 US and European tour together. This show is the first show of the tour.
The show was 8pm Tuesday evening, October 4, 2016 at the Hard Rock Live in Orlando, Florida. If you are not familiar with the venue, it sits right in the middle of the very crowded Universal CityWalk entertainment hotspot.
The Hard Rock Live packs a lot of people into a relatively small space with seating made up of narrow folding chairs. Not much room between rows, and people all snuggle up next to each other. Luckily, the crowd was tremendously encouraging and loved the performance.
Jon Anderson's voice sounded great. He had tremendous energy and had tremendous stage presence. He was wearing oversized Mickey Mouse hands as he came on to the stage. Both Trevor Rabin and Rick Wakeman were great. There were some minor first show technical issues and missed cues, but otherwise an adept and powerful performance. Lee Pomeroy and Louis Molino III did a fine job rounding out the band.
This clip was recorded on an iPhone 6.

Cant believe people are saying this sounds rusty. Its much more loose then other lineups of Yes... but that looseness is half the fun of this lineup. This is an incredible take!
So glad I got to see them later this tour.
Oh my goodness, I am now back in the 70s. I used to listen to Yes late at night and then the 80s happened. Whadda ya gonna do?
Only night on the tour that they played Starship Trooper. Next concert was cancelled due to Hurricane warnings in West Palm.
I picked them up again in Clearwater, then up to Durham, and then a quick flight to Atlanta. Caught them on the final US concert in Indio, CA. Already have plane and event tickets for the last three concerts in Chicago, Cleveland and Dayton on this tour.
Great...thanks for share...long time waited for this.... as always amazing....
Definitely a rough take on this one, but then again this was Trevor's first gig in years. As the tour went on they got a lot better and the band got tighter, just a shame they dropped this one before it could really take off. Saw them on this tour, by far one of the best concerts I've ever seen. Hopefully they bring this one back on the new tour.
Agreed - Trevor Rabin was tremendously rusty. Later concerts on the tour show his rust falling away as they tighten up considerably as a group.
Thanx for the upload
Love this lineup-rusty perhaps, but they did smooth out over the course of the tour, and have been playing with a refreshing urgency not seen in yes music for years. It's a different experience with Rabin and the new (killer) rhythm section, but that's what I like about it-it's a refreshing take on classic tunes. But, you can't please everybody; certainly not Yes fans. Incidentally, the last time I saw "Yes version 1.0" the vibe was a tad less than enthusiastic, with exception of Chris, who played with vigor and joy up until the end and seemed to be the only one who really wanted to be there. You are missed, Mr. Squire; would've loved to have seen him with this lineup.
Why did they remove starship trooper from setlist after the first show ?
from this angle, l feel like l'm ln the audience too....
Brilliant as always.
If I were Jon, I’d insist that the keys were lowered by a tone. I know he’s staggeringly good, but getting those top notes time and time again, is just expecting too much.
I thoroughly enjoyed this, but prefer him with that gang of students now.
Son of a bitch. They dropped this one and did "Roundabout" instead when I saw them!
Yeah -- I'll take a Starship Trooper encore over a Roundabout encore most of the time.
ybrix101 they did the same last Tuesday here in LA at the Orpheum Theater. The encore was Roundabout instead of Starship Trooper. I was just waiting for the Wurm :(
totally loveable awesome i dont understand bad opinions bout this, you r out
omg Trevor ruin this song
True.
The usual static noise from Trevor Rabin on this song, nothing has changed in thirty years.
That's your own wrong opinion
Rabin... Not for me.
For me Trevor Rabin is the biggest in the world!
@@stefanomartelli1436 He means on this song. For example, him using thicc chorus and drive on the middle section
@@Grayham4 I personally love the chorus and drive. Steve H couldve used a little more saturation in his tone, but just my opinion
I find this rather lame and half-hearted. Surely they can't need the money?
no I shouldn't think so, but they're musicians, who love music!
And you think the Howe tribute bands version is better? I do not think so - and they dropped this song through the rest of the tour. Rabin admits he was rusty at the start of the tour - but picked up speed and quality as the shows went on....
I’m sure they need the money, probably make more from investments sound asleep than touring. It’s what they love.
