Fish900 The pay2win model kinda ruined it. Hard grinding is not what people like. Look at QuakeLive still living with a fair free2play model. I wish devs wouldn't be so obsessed with earning lots of money by making their game p2w and call it f2p just to attract people in. I'm an old TA player but let's be honest... devs ruined it not the community.
I personally don't find tribes as a Pay 2 win model. For me, yes it was hard to grind, but very fair since you could unlock almost everything. I mean, they need some way to make profit off of the game. And the weapons are somewhat balanced. You use weapons based on personal preference and that's what I like :D
Fish900 Like I said, hard grind is not appealing anymore to the large audience out there. Hence why after 50 hours of fun most stopped playing. More than 90% of the community at this point is formed of players that paid for the stuff they acquired (and I'm not a hypocrite because I'm part of the 90%. Haven't paid too much but I did cuz I liked the game but it still is too much and not fair). This really shows the bad decisions made with this game.

I'm glad the game died. The community was terrible, cost them to loose every customer they had and would have had. The game itself was epic, but the people that played it ruined it for the rest of us.

God I miss this game. Not a week goes by where I don't wish I was back playing for [ST]. Still the most fun I've ever had in a shooter, and pretty much the only game I ever really dedicated myself to (the only other being Dota 2).

One of the main reasons why I don't go play competitive is the VAST AMOUNT of autos used there...
lately tons of lvl50 players around pubs still they are the ones that use autos most...

Not exactly the best montage, it reminded me of a parody CoD montage. Also holy crap! T:A still had a comp scene? Wow! Anyway it's really that this game didn't work out, it had the potential to be the best multi-player game around...

I dont liked this video. 1st and 2nd was way better. However i waited your videos, because midair in 150-300m distance was awesome.
The 2 first movies were pub movies. All the clips in this one are from competitive games where you don't go for long distance midairs.

Sadly all servers ping 170+ for me, cant play.
I personally dont find T:A as fun as Tribes 2... So after Dead Stop I never looked back. Tribes Ascend was a crap game compared to comp in T2 or starsiege... Its a dumbed down version and hi rez should have never took over the franchise. Maps were to dam small, regen thing in general was retarded, weapon limitations, just complete crap. if anyone took this game seriously comp wise... kind of pathetic... than again bunch of cod players. which is perfect because T:A is not tribes. Its CoD with jet packs.
I'd say it's something in between CoD and Tribes. For non-Tribers T:A is something very different.
I can not get my fix from any other game at the moment (thought BF4 would help, but nope). I play a lot of other games but I stll need some casual T:A every day to satisfy my need for speed or blueplates.
I really wish there was another Tribes I can play, that is good. Because beginning with T:A and trying T2 is just too much for me. Learning how to ski and projectile well without any experience from other titles is hard even in T:A imho and T2 skiing really offsets me and gives me a very unpleasant entry into the game, so I really don't wish to pour much hours into it and rather have some instant fun in T:A.
Making a more casual shooter with jetpacks to get more casual players going for the game is marketing wise a good Idea. But if you want to do that well, you need a polished game, so your not dependant of hardcore players. Those would look over the lacking polish if they could have a competetive sound game behind that, but HiRez delivered neither.
Stilll I wish they would release something in between T:A and a full on T2 reskin (or a T1 reskin). But yeah, please not HiRez
Siff It also doesn't help that the CEO of hi-rez put in things into the game that lots of the coding / design team did not want. There were decisions that he ignored the input from everyone else and just put them in because he wanted them. And i wish T:A could satisfy my needs, all through the beginning of open beta it was actually looking pretty decent, and just had the major flaws like hit-scan and a botched physics model....So bad that mannnnnny hardcore t1+2 fans went out to design they're own ski / jetpack game. The same high competitive community (esports) players that the devs took input from back in vengeance did it again. The players wanted small team sizes, they wanted to keep their little bullet hoses, wanted to keep rock routes in and lots more.... This coming from somebody who was part of a group that basically from the beginning of T:A tried to actually make the game a tribes game......It was probably doomed for failure from the start , because hi-rez" CEO is a douchebag, but who knows, maybe im just a tribes fanatic who is sick of having his wittle heart bwoken :( :( HOLO VORMULAC 2012
