Ever since the channel was started, I have been noticing progress in the video quality and animation, and I have noticed that the progress is speeding up. This video shows that, the animation was the best I think I've ever seen on this channel.
So 096 covers his face from trauma because he feels the gaze of ordinary people are the same as King of the Mountain. And each time anyone looks at him, he is reminded of his trauma but instead of despair he feels pure rage because he wants vengeance against the one who turned him into this monster. He has to kill anyone who looks at him because to him they're the same thing as SCP 1529. At least that's what I think is the reason he must kill them.
I don't think it's trauma. SCP-096 hasn't realized the encounter is over. He's still living in that moment. As far as he is concerned, he is still protecting his face from SCP-1529 with no intentions of ever giving in and accepting the "gift." He lacks either the intelligence or the clarity to recognize that anyone who looks at him isn't the King of Mountains (also, given that SCP-1529 just looks like a person with goggles + white clothes, _anyone_ could be the King of the Mountain - just in a different outfit). However, the Shy Guy is no longer bound by the paralytic effect of the King of the Mountain, so now he physically lashes out to reject the gift. That's how I interpreted it anyways.

Meh. I like Dr. Bob's take on the story better. In that version, the climber was tortured for years on end, forced to endlessly climb the mountain and feel the slow, agonizing process of his body slowly changing the higher up he went, all while the king glares down at him, with the reason he lashes out at those who see his face being that he still sees and feels the eyes of the mountain king with every pair of eyes that glimpses him. Here, it's just sort of... Okay, you're a monster now, bye!
I still don't understand how the King on the mountain made his bones indestructible and gave him the power to sense when his face was seen. Honestly, it would make more sense if sarkics made 096.Orok is almost the exact same kind of monster as the shy guy, only he's not scared.
in order too climb a mountain you gotta have hella body strength and in order to do so you have to have bone density too so when the mountain king said ill make you part of the mountain he made it so no torment that the mountain could give like the cold or the strenuous climbing would be able to kill him in short the mountain king did as he promised and made him better at climbing

It's said that he said that all he wanted to do was to climb and so the Mountain King tortured him for years expanding the reality around him to make him climb and climb and climb till his body distorted itself into what's known today. The man who ended up being known as The Shy Guy is constantly crying over his horrible and irreversible fate as his eyes and mind only have one single image that still terrifies his very core: The horrible eyes of the Mountain King. His hatred for the entity grew and grew to the point that he sees any gaze, from anywhere in the world as the king's gaze. When he's looked at, he sees his eyes, he feels the hatred coming back, he feels the pain and he won't stop until the king is destroyed. Thus the immortal being chases his victims to get rid of the haze's feeling. Dr. Bob made a more detailed video, I did made it sound different but this theory is simply one of the best since it's another story where an SCP is created by another scp Just like The Old Man being created in The Red Reality

Honestly prefer the story from dr bob similar but he endured centuries of torment climbing the face of the mountain as he refused the first gift as he only wanted to climb and the king maliciously granted it and his body was transformed because of it and forever after he only saw they burning gaze of the king in his mind when anyone looked upon his face.

I guess SCP-1529 must be a powerful reality warper of some sort, kind of similar to SCP-343 to be able to create an Immortal, Inhuman being like SCP-096. Though I know this origin story is only a theory, but it seems to be the one that is most widely accepted in regards to how SCP-096 came to exist.
Agreed, otherwise SCP-1529 could create more instances of SCP-096 should more Mountaineer’s venture Mount Everest. Which would be devastating if enough instances of SCP-096 multiplied, made it to a populated area, was seen, had their picture taken and posted on social media, etc. That would be an XK end of the world scenario.

It will not go after blind people. It will go after anybody that sees four pixels of his face in photos or videos. If anyone does not look at his face or is incapable of looking at his face (because at least one of their faces are covered) he will not attack. That is why he's sealed inside of an airtight steel container with no portholes to look in.
