the more common type of generosity we know is given coming from place of Success, bounty, or victory. we can call it a sharing of blessings or paying it forward. and that is already great in itself. but it when we gjve and practice generosity coming from a not so good phase in life, or when we are still able share something to others may it be in material form, servitude, or just sharing our time and presence while we are also going through our own struggles in life-- that is no longer just generosity... that is also love that we are sharing. there may be countless of unsung and unrecognized acts of love and genorisity. it creates an endless ripple touching lives ltranscending distance, space, and time. life is already difficult, why not make the conscious effort to make it a bit less difficult for one anotner. this talk is the highlight of my day today. sending Love to everyone!
Here in Brazil, its curious, but the most generous are the poorest, they share what they have, even when they have nothing. Helping people in the streets is very rewarding.
Being open to doing even "small" kindnesses even to our friends and family without ulterior motive, and being open to receiving and accepting such from others without looking for motive.
🙇🏻♀️ Huge respect for how you managed to share this with us, while your mother passed away, only one month ago; and for how you have presented this . Thank you so much for sharing these stories with us. ✨💖✨
Thank you, Chris! I am with you on being sick of everybody being mean to each other. Thank you for the examples and ideas so we can start our own kindness campaigns.
The TED Talk provided a thought-provoking insight into the impact of infectious generosity. It highlighted real-life examples, like the 'Kindness Pandemic' and Amy Wolf's initiatives, showcasing how small acts of kindness can create a ripple effect. I appreciated the emphasis on emotional, creative, and courageous elements as drivers for positive change. It's inspiring to see how individuals like MrBeast and movements like Giving Tuesday leverage social media for philanthropy. I share the speaker's belief in the power of generosity. The idea of 'journey mates' being meaning and happiness is a beautiful concept, and it motivates me to embrace a more generous mindset in my daily life. Overall, a compelling talk that encourages us to contribute to a more compassionate world. Well done!
Nice, Chris! We met a few times, I knew Zoe and you were always kind to me and your mother was fantastic. I think of Zoe often and get sad so I can't imagine how you feel. She was simply incredible.
TED is absolutely AWESOME!!!!!!!! I LOVE IT!!!!! You are GREAT, Chris!!! I´'m an English teacher and my classes sure have changed because of TED!!! And will definitely use this one as well! Generosity CAN be infectious!!!!!
Great thanks for your creativity and generosity. I suggest that each view, share or like of this video may extent that generosity to at least one other person just like an infection which spreads and never stops at all.

mine too :-). Thank you so much for this talk - and thank you for the advice on nitpicking ...it is something that I meet so often when I want to spread a bit of hope and optimism ...this yes but. Now I stopped to think if I don't do it too ...I will work at being open to all good, positive ideas
I clicked on this video because I saw it and thought "isn't that just what Mr. Beast does every time he makes a video?" It was a cheeky joke, and 100% I was not expecting this. I thought it was gonna be some experiment or thoughtful idea. I didn't even imagine that there was this. I actually watch most of the creators in this video. I LOVE watching generosity and frequently wish that I could be that generous. I am almost crying. Then I was thinking - no I have been generous before. I have given food and money to the homeless when I was dead broke. The number one reason I give to the customer service jobs I apply to for applying is "I want to help people and make them happy." I do think tho, that it would be amazing if I could come up with something grander than the little things like these other people
Little interactions count. You never know who's life you affected with your kindness. Also, those people are more likely to be kind to someone else because of your modeling. It is very grand indeed. Fame and volume feeds ego, but interpersonal exchanges feed the world. Keep going! We need you!!!!!
There is kindness with the average person, the problem is the lack of it at the top who's empathy is insulated by the bubble of money they were born into. Of course they are the ones who's kindness could have the largest effect....
Inspiring yes, but I personally, given my situation, criminal case and circumstances am not in a safe space or place to put myself out there in the world like that, not on a grand scale, I do small things for people when I am out and about. God bless the creators of Ted and Tedx, the videos the majority of the time are very helpful, inclusive and kind. Thanks. 😇🙏👊👍💜
The more people have, the less generous they become. Some of the poorest people i know would give you their last dollar. The people that have everything can't abide parting with one.
Chris you are a great man, may god bless you and all of the benefactors that were influenced by you ! your mother is surely proud of you from heaven ! love from Israel ✡✡✡ 🌍🌎🌏🤝🤝🤝🙏
In some regions it is already so. When comparing Slovak and Sardinian society much can be desired on the Slovak part. Nowadays there is a pandemic of pessimism and grudges and it is hard to imagine a change...
There's a roofing company consisting of 3 Slavic brothers in Canada. Every week or so they choose a house with bad gutters to replace them for free. In serious cases they put on a new, metal roof for free! They can afford to do so .
I want to add to this list Bedlam Steve and all the volunteers from the Refugee Community Kitchen in Calais. They have been feeding hot nutricious meals to thousands of people for years.
If you have to trick people into being generous through "viral" content then you understand we aren't the supreme arbiters of justice and fairness we believe ourselves to be.
If I were part of that PayPal experiment I would first be suspicious that it was some kind of scam and then I would simply save the $10,000 in my bank account . When I feel guilty about my miserliness I remind myself that I can't carry my money to the grave and what I don't use ,I'll just be passing along later
I'll tell you what. When the rich aren't rich anymore because they give most of their money to the communities and people that helped them get where they are, I'll be more generous. Until then, as the rich say, "it's everyone for themselves."
Japanese Sony movie? Ultra Violet was created in 2006, was it invented in 2000? Space colony biotechnology? Is the corona the sun? Were you doing research in 2000? I have not been vaccinated
I've unfortunately had the misfortune of working with this guy. He's two-faced, arrogant, and treats people with disdain. Never trust the fake hero stories of people like this. They're just trying to sell you something. Their real faces are different.
He talks of generosity being spread like a virus. He seems to ignore or downplay detractors and blockers. His motive seems genuine but the talk sounds like a motivational speaker failing to prepare people for pushback and problems. Just ignore it, is not an answer that works for people. When people try and run into difficulty, they think they are the problem. Is it any wonder they lose hope in their attempts.
If you like this idea, tell us about your own experience of how kindness can spread online!

Kindness doesn’t have to carry a price tag. Can’t we all be the inspiration pebbles that creates ripples of generosity that becomes a huge wave?.

It'd take scarcity to become scarce, In order for generosity to go viral.
In some regions it is already so. When comparing Slovak and Sardinian society much can be desired on the Slovak part. Nowadays there is a pandemic of pessimism and grudges and it is hard to imagine a change...
But the fact that you used the word “imagine” gives hope, right?! Maybe you can keep imagining and help it become so. 🙏🏽💜

If you have to trick people into being generous through "viral" content then you understand we aren't the supreme arbiters of justice and fairness we believe ourselves to be.
Or there is a great deal of things distracting us and working against our better nature (see books like "The Myth of Normal" and "Stolen Focus").
I don't think it's necessarily about "the content". It can be a wave of in-person interactions.
