Thanks for a professional, unbiased view of the game. A lot of blues reviewers seem to enjoy taking the mickey out of our tiny ground rather than analysing what actually happened on the pitch
. You were class, a class above us. We lost some of our best players last season, so are inconsistent recently despite decent results. We never got going saturday, playing deeper than usual attempting to withold your attacking threat. Your keeper played for us a couple of years back, and was always reliable. Remember we are just a small club, that spent many years in non-league playing in front of 2,000 suffering fans. Enjoy your season, I dont expect you here next season

People often forget the Lincoln story. You've done really well considering you were in the national league just back in 16/17. I think you will be fine this season and arguably make the playoffs. All the very best for the rest of the season except for the return leg at St Andrews :)

It's not that long ago that our ground was falling apart, and parts of it closed for a good period of time whilst the work was being done thanks to our new am amazing owners. I think a lot of our fans forget this, as well as the fact that our current status is a League One club. Gary and Matt never forget this and give all the teams and grounds the respect that they deserve, and that's why these chaps are the 🐐 🐐 .
Football is the beautiful game, but there's always an element of ugliness, which is a shame. Had it not been for Tom Wagner and Knighthead, we could be in a very different state of play than the lovely position that we currently find ourselves in, and this is despite the relegation from the Championship.
      KRO 💙

I have more respect for people supporting "small clubs" than all those Liverpool, Man U, Arsenal etc fans who have never been to the grounds of their favourite teams because they are 150 miles from where they live. Supporting local teams, in pretty large numbers, is what makes British football unique. Long live "small clubs".

@@malc.s.5373 lot of fans just taking the piss mate we are so used to being rubbish for many years I think they’re enjoying winding people up for once. Most blues fans as I believe the podcast guys said knew going away to you lot with your league position was gonna be a tough game and even if we were a different class if that penalty went in could easily have been a different story!

Agree on Paudie O'Connor, in any other season he'd be a player we'd love to have on board.
Willumsson, I wasn't sure watching his first few games, maybe because he doesn't play like a conventional 10, hes a quiet man, goes about his business and his performances have improved as hes settled in. Completely selfless team player.
I've had faith in Keshi since he returned from injury last season, but he seems to have found his mojo.
Paik & Iwata ; absolutely epic combination.
I also agree Alfie seems to create more opportunities in and around the box.
Allsops composure on the ball inspires confidence in the rest of the team and in the stands.
The best bit is that we are missing important players and still field a squad capable of dominating games and winning from a losing position.
Great channel guys , keep up the great work 👍🏼

    Great content again
Although I’m a Wrexham fan, I was quite intrigued at the Lincoln game, when the score came in, the reality started to sink in that L1 is running out teams that can beat you in 2024, I looked at the upcoming fixtures and reckon the Blues will finish 2024 potentially with 50+ points, next nearest team 40 ish points.
2025 can anyone else take top spot, I’m now not sure

However your new manager has pulled the players together as a team in quite quick time, dominating possession which is only good whilst scoring goals, and you’re also doing that quite well.
Sort conceding the early goals issue out, and you’re probably a Championship side already

Hi. Another great analysis of a match. On the back of your preview I predicted 2:2 but as people keep saying moments make matches, and even seasons. The penalty save was huge. And you’re right we need to ‘love’ one of our goalies and this is the lad’s chance. Skubala’s reference to our 2 no 6’s was such a compliment. They are becoming the envy of every L1 manager, who has sense and manners. Final point; brilliant result. So significant after Charlton. And Portsmouth had 22 after 10 last year. We’ve got 25. One quarter of the job done. I am so impressed KRO

There is so much to talk about.... 🤣🤣 brilliant analysis as always 😁
I can't believe we conceded as early as we did and in the manner of the goal. That being said we got our act together and our superior quality showed.
Three great goals. May is do much better at 9 than he is at 10. All that his performance lacked was a goal but he more than contributed with his 2 assists and overall play.
Anderson took both of his goals really well. Crazy to think that some fans questioned the decision to give him a new contract!! I appreciate that the game is all about opinions, but even before this performance, he's more than contributed. I really like him.
Willumsson is a proper player and again, like you both, I do question what some people are watching and seeing as he's got 🧊 🥶 and 💣🔥 he's a proper player. A fantastic assist 🥶 and great goal 🔥 He's definitely a lot more effective at 10!
It's mad to think the players that were missing as Bielik, Stansfield and most likely Wright would've started had they been fit. However, their misfortune was an opportunity for others to come in and stake a claim, and no one fluffed their lines.
I've said before that Stansfield can play 9, 10 or 11 and I will also add 7. Stansfield is that good, and he has to start!
What I liked about our goals was the possession with real purpose.
It was great to see Laird back. That was a delicious pass to Yokoyama who I'd commented on previously that I want to see him involved more. I think he needs minutes and he will just get better and better. Great awareness and quality with the cut back to Willumsson set up Anderson. My favourite goal for so many different reasons 😁.
We definitely have amazing strength in depth and competition for places.
A special mention for Allsop. That penalty save was a pivotal moment in the game. Awful penalty, but he still needed to go the right way and deal with it, and so it was a great save. I've said previously on more than one occasion. He's the best keeper at the club. Delighted for Allsop.
Iwata and Paik as a midfield pair is just in sane. Add to that the insanity of Leonard on the bench and restricted to just another cameo performance. That sort of indepth quality is absolutely crazy 🤪.
It was really important that we bounced back from the disappointment of the performance and result against Charlton, and it's fair to say that we did just that!!
The table looks really good right now, and hopefully long may it continue.
Now, onto the next game. Hopefully, we start well against Bolton!!! And the rest of the game goes well, too. 3 more points, please, Blues 🙏
    KRO 💙

Thank you very much for your comment Richard which is greatly appreciated. It's great reading your comment which makes us realise how many good players we have and how strong our squad actually is.
We do need to stop conceding early goals but the fire power and quality we have this season is fantastic!
What a difference a year makes. This time last year we were enduring Rooneyball! KRO!

It's like night and day. All credit to Knighthead and appointing Chris Davies. Who knew that he was the perfect man for the job. Knighthead did. His appointment has more than made up for the mess of appointing Rooney.
That being said, Chris Davies is also a very lucky man to have been given such a fantastic opportunity. What a club to be at for your first number one job.
      It's definitely a mutually beneficial arrangement 😁😁
Chris Davies has been well backed in the transfer market, but he still has to manage all of that and create the culture that he has and implement his footballing philosophy.
It's fair to say that the owners and the fans are loving what we're seeing. Long may Chris Davies and Blues remain together, and of course, the most important people as part of any football club the fans are able to enjoy the journey. So far, so good. Long may this continue. This is just the start of something which I believe is going to be very special.

I am of the belief it's a deliberate tactic to let the opposition score as once they have a goal they sit back to defend their lead. We then just swarm them with attack after attack.
I think Lincoln tried the Charlton approach but unfortunately for them we were on our game with quick incisive passing. You could tell Lincoln looked knackered by half time. 82% possession at half time is an incredible stat. Lincoln defended very well as that quite easily have been 5 or 6. Amazing goal line clearance by their captain from Leonard's shot. I was impressed with Skubala post match - no making excuses about money spent etc. It was a great result versus a tough well organised team. I think Sincil Bank will be a bit of a fortress this year and they'll definitely finish in the top 8.

Great content guys as always, in my humble opinion, May was bought for his goals as an out and out striker, regardless of how much jay cost, he prefers I think to run onto the ball so play him just behind May possibly on the right because let's be honest, he can score from anywhere.

Thanks guys. What you said pretty much covered what I wanted to say, but do have a couple of things to add to what you talked about.
The penalty was soft. The problem was that the Lincoln player got the wrong side of Iwata(?) who raised his arms against the forward.
To be fair it was a good ball and run by the Lincoln players.
My issue with awarding the penalty is a general problem with the modern game. As soon as a player feels the fart of a butterfly on his shirt, he goes down like he's been shot.
There is no way Iwata's contact was enough to cause the player going down. I know this because I've seen a fair bit of rugby in my time and players HAVE to stay on their feet to score a try, and STAY on their feet after far harder impacts from defenders.
If I was a ref I would be booking players for bringing the game into disrepute when they con the ref! lol
My other point is the goal that Lincoln scored.
If you look at out defenders just after the shot is made, there are three in line between the goal scorer and Allsop. Ryan didn't even move because he was unsighted and there was no spread of cover. (paused at @7:39 )
Am sure I don't need to tell the players about this as Davies will have said plenty! lol
Any road, I'm becoming convinced that it's a good thing to let the opposition score early as we always win when that happens! lol
    KRO Forever True.

    Great podcast as normal.
My few points in no order are,
Again we concede an early goal!
Ryan Alsop l feel confident when hes playing
Alfie May was excellent. He might not have scored but he is fantastic.
When teams take a short goal kick why does a defender take it and play it to the goalkeeper?
Our left hand side at the back was caught out time and time again.
Finally....the way im feeling about Birmingham at the monent....anybody remember Trevor Hockey singing that song....Happy cause im Blue!!

ATB to a very decent Lincoln team and their fans for the compliments to us but our football quality and fitness levels were untouchable .... which is probably why teams are being instructed to 'come out of the starting blocks at full blast' because our capability and fitness level dominates generally as the game progresses through the 1st and definitely in the 2nd.

Am I wrong that last season many questioned if Stansfields best position was a 9? He was there because we didnt really have any other options there. Will be really cool to see him tried out on the wings, especially if it means May and Willumson can play their clear strongest positions

I noticed this a few matches prior, but I think we're playing in a more fluid system than most people think, I remember when Yokayama was playing (and a few matches without him) we seem to be, for the want of a better expression, switching the attacking player's positions around the pitch. Infamously, this was actually most well known to have been done by Sir Alex Ferguson on with the Ronaldo, Rooney and Tevez only they had the 2 wingers and number 9 role switching around when needed. We don't do this all the time, but I've noticed that we've been playing around with the idea. It's maybe something to look out for when we're going into the championship season?

Look at the penalty again. I think you'll see our defender (apologies, I'm not sure who it was) caught the Lincoln forward's trailing leg. I don't think it was given for the slight tug the defender made. The Lincoln player wasn't able to bring his trailing leg forward because he'd been prevented from doing so by the Blues defender... Penalty in my opinion...Keep up the great work...

I completely understand where you're coming from mate, but I think the reason why we're seeing it as a soft pen is more about the fact that worse fouls have been committed in the box where there wasn't a penalty rather than it just being based on that foul alone. There's also the fact of the penalty being heavily in favor in the pen taker, basically making it an 80% chance of a goal (when taken well) so you'll also need to think whether the foul itself is worth giving the team, what should basically be, a free goal. But I definitely get where you're coming from, it's just a harsh pen for the ref to give when considering those circumstances

  • @oldnblue

Not getting carried away, still early days imo, but in reality we are a class above the rest of the league
One small issue imo is a continued failure to convert pressure into chances, but then again we're scoring goals and winning game and the squad are still improving - or as Morpheus put it -

I don't think Lincoln were good I found them to be finicky play actors going down every 5m playing to the ref and not the game. That came back to bite them on the ass they got what they deserved nothing. And in no way is that a penalty the player runs across Paik, he doesn't change is run no pen good job it was saved.
