Love, love, you ladies. Thanks for being so open about your struggles with anxiety. I too struggle with anxiety and knit for my mental health. Also, I work in mental health and one of my greatest joys is teaching clients how to knit.
So wonderful to see you both!!! I think the ability for young mothers to be able to find time to knit is such an important outlet. I think if I were a knitter when my children were young I would have had an important, creative outlet and tool to handle the stress of motherhood.
I am a bag person too!! I got the plystre bag after watching your podcast. I just got a twig and horn bag. Glad to know I am not alone.
Oh my gosh. I want that hat, Instant gratification knitting.
Exactly the reason I started knitting. Wanted to get the heck away from my phone. Every day after school I sit at the table with the kids while they do homework and I knit so I can stay engaged with them. It's a lifesaver!
I was almost in tears listening to you both- I am a mom to a 4 year old and also work part time as a nurse. I make almost no time for myself and it is definitely starting to take its toll on me. I definitely need to start pulling my needles out when she is watching tv or playing legos for a million hours, rather than waiting until she is asleep and I am shattered. Thank you 🙏🏻
Kaet623 yaasss girl! You gotta take care of yourself. It’s important to show our kids that too! To show them that we are more than just mom and to be an example for them to do things for themselves sometimes!
I have had that shawl pattern for ages and you have just convinced me to knit it. Thanks for the tips on wearing it. That was what I could get my head around.
I really love the colors in that shawl, and I love seeing how you style it!
Also the end is my very favorite part
So thankful for you talking about how you manage knitting with "all dem kids". I only have two but I always wonder if other mums knit when their kids are around or whether it was a guilty pleasure I was indulging in and feeling silly about feeling guilty about doing around them. My kids are definitely interested in it and I think at least one of them will want to knit there own things one day (one can only hope!). I also agree that life without knitting would be very bad for all around me - knitting is my zen :-)
I had to stop this halfway through so I could make a comment. I kept talking back to you as you guys were talking. Haha 😊 I too have anxiety and can completely relate to everything said. As mom's we are always 'on' and that's what we need to do but I agree that knitting keeps me grounded and allows my mind to slow down. And to have time where nobody needs anything from me 😉 Oh and I'm a paper planner girl too! Love, love, love your podcast. Really look forward to when a new one comes out. Thank you for taking the time to do it. Feels like hanging out with super fun friends.
Erin Clayton 😂 we are glad to keep you company!
Good show ladies.
Style your knits a continued favorite of mine!!
I'd love to see some of your beginning knits. To watch you guys now it's like "wow I'm never gonna get that good, test knitting, whipping stuff up in 2 weeks (Mrs. Kat) can you give us newbies some encouragement? What's that way back project that's maybe a little embarrassing? But hey, everyone has to start somewhere.
Keep up the good work.
Thanks for the shout out!!!
xoxo
Tiffany Braggs yes yes yes to this!
Yay! My favorites
You two are going to cost me a lot of money today. How much was the roll top bag? Of course they are sold out. That looks so practical and not garish. A good bag for me needs to be pretty neutral and not bulky on its own.
I just found your podcast and binge watched it all (in reverse order) at work (I work in a call center) and I couldn't put my finger on why I liked you guys so much. Then I figured it out in episode two: you are interpreters! I'm also an interpreter! Very excited to find knitting interpreters! Do your colleagues tell you knitting is a bad idea because of increased risk of RSIs? I have been heavily discouraged by colleagues and professors alike, but I'm definitely not quitting knitting.
No one could ever tell us to stop knitting! 😂 collecting different methods of knitting can help prevent injury bc of the change in motion. Also doing the same stretches we do for interpreting before knitting is a must. And also remembering to take breaks! Yay for knitting terps!!!!
