- Because this is National Safe Boating Week, we'd like to introduce our Outboard Hydraulic Steering Lock, a low-cost, easy-to-install product that could extend the life of your hydraulic steering cylinder(s) and make trailering your boat a safer experience. In this video, Phil demonstrates how quick and easy it is to install the locking clips on your cylinder. No tools are needed!
Special thanks to Marine Max (www.marinemax.com/) in Pompano Beach, FL, for lending their equipment and facilities for this video.

Let me just say, I wish I had a boat with an outboard motor. I would use this all day. I’m stuck with my Malibu two XL, but I love it
What if it stick steer on a mercury and the steering rod only comes out one side of the cylinder cables on the other what you got
How do these clip onto the 2010 mercury 40hp 4strk efi motor? Ours only has one side on the hydrolic steering where it could clip. The other side is just the hose connected. Sorry dont know how to explain well hope it makes sense
If you can fit both clips on the same side that would be ideal, otherwise it may only require one clip.
but only one side will make the motor tilt one side, how to keep it in middle
Can someone help me figure out... How do you keep the tiller of an outboard locked in the center? How do you keep it from turning when motoring? Can you use these while motoring in the water? Im trying to figure out how to keep an outboard locked in the center while motoring.
Our hydraulic steering locks are for keeping the motor straight while trailering only. They are not to be used with the boat in the water.
Why can't they be used in the water? @@SeachoiceProducts
