Great shout about sending the scouts to 'until finished' instead of 'ongoing'. Will try that now myself (Yep, completionist here).

I am playing the game on desktop, produced in 2008. And i can suggest for beggars like me to load leagues by regions. For example top 5 core leagues (england, spain, france, italy, germany) + scandinavian (Iceland, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Sweden) in my current save. If i want to change region - just add new leagues and remove olds, but keep core. Also it'll be nice to look at leagues reputation if you are trying to journeyman (changes are noticeable every 4-5 years). Good balance between realism and performance overall.

Amen! Someone has to be told that staff; even if that things are working like 5 versions ago. After the final update; I am gonna start a new journeyman - zero to hero type of save. Will include Top 20 Nations (as playable & loaded) with max detail level, based on Game Importance, FA Financial Power, Economic Factor, State of Development and Youth Rating:

I will try to have each nationality for each scouter (Brazilian to scout Brazil) and so on. Don't understand why people find so hard about scouting; makes sense to have a Brazilian - Brazil, having already 100% knowledge of his nation. Anyway, that Mac Studio is looking attractive (not mainly for gaming). Hehe
My scouts are set to ongoing and they gain knowledge just fine. Example: scout set to ongoing in Russia, Ukraine & Belarus - he had no previous knowledge of these but is now at 24%, 10% & 5% respectively.
Yeah it’s a strange one. In some saves it works and in other saves it doesn’t. Consistently finished works all the time and on some my other saves I just leave it as ongoing cos I never really cared about it.
Having lots of view-only leagues seems to make it easier to get rich by qualifying for the group stage of the continental competitions, because you get drawn against a lot of teams with a lot of bot players who have 1 aggression, 3 bravery, 1 determination and 1 natural-fitness. Even big clubs from view-only leagues with lots of real players (who are much better than yours on paper) seem easier to beat, maybe because of poor/mediocre morale and team cohesion. I surprisingly beat Bayern Munich and Athletico Madrid (from non-playable leagues) in the champions cup, but then lost 7-0 to Liverpool and 12-1 to Man Utd.

I play on the laptop . +-20 leagues . 7 playable (5 Europe 2 South América) and the rest view only .
Don't have the French league loaded . Maybe PSG are not as agressive in the transfer market ?
If the french league is not loaded then PSG is not aggressive in the market.
Back a few versions of FM ago, when I had a lower end computer, I paid a lot of attention to detail level. Now I've spent a ton of money on a near cutting edge computer (flight simulators are super tough on hardware, and that's my main hobby), I just load the leagues I want as playable and leave them with default detail level. But yes, that's a good way to load leagues yet adjust things to get better PC performance. Regarding scouting knowledge, that's interesting about sending a scout and setting him to "until finished". First time I've heard that suggested. Zealand recently did a video on testing whether scouts gained knowledge of new countries and the results were not good, but I don't think he used the "until finished" option. What I have always gone by is A) I only send scouts to countries where they have knowedge, and B) High adaptability seems to make a diffeence. The guy you sent to a new country in this video had an adaptability of 14. I wonder if his adaptability were instead 4 if he would have gained any knowledge? Also, in Zealand's test he found that it did not matter if the scout knew the native language of the country he was sent to, and if he didn't know it he didn't learn it. I think all these bits of info prove that SI REALLY needs to revamp the scouting system.

Scouting hasn't really changed since forever. Most people already know that you have to set all scouts to finished first. Thats just how the game has been, if you had been playing it for the last 5 years. The reason why you are hearing it for first time is probably because no one bothers to mention it. I used to in in my earlier scouting videos. And because I just treat it as a number I dont really care. Ultimately your scouting packages are the most important, followed by making the leagues playable. Not just loaded. They have to be playable. SI are aware that there is an issue with ongoing vs finished. That was raised multiple times but it isn't a serious bug, since the scout's discovery of players is actually a function of the packages and the playable leagues. Zealands test was fundamentally flawed.

Until competition ends. It has to be set to "ongoing" to remain 100% permanent.
Unfortunately, as SI admits, Ongoing can lapse for bizarre reasons. So you always have to check.
Honestly, I've never trusted the estimated speed as more than the most rough approximation. The game claims my Predator Heliax runs at 2*. But it's never taken more than a couple seconds to click a turn. And that's on heavy match days or deadline day. I play with all of South America loaded, MLS, Mexico, and most of Europe loaded, though nations like England, Denmark, and Norway, I have "View Only Below" a certain threshold. That will tick up over the course of the save as I climb the ladder. But I'll always keep at least the top 2 leagues loaded in every nation I want in the market.
The game does a really poor estimation of your rig speed. They are using estimated bench marks others post during the testing phases. So...erm...yeah. Not everyone optimises their rigs well.
I want view only for a few leagues in a journeyman save but then when I decide to move to that league I want to make it playable. This is so that the league itself has history. Is this possible to do without removing the league then readding it a year later? Without having an historical gap would be great.
A lot of people do that for journeyman saves including me, esp on my laptop. Historical records will be kept for the winners of the league and runners up. A season before you go to the new league you load the extra leagues. They become active when the second season starts.
I have done this in my Journeyman saves. Do be aware it is possible, not likely but can/has happened, for activating a league to cause database oddities or competitions added to be corrupted. Typically, I would rather leave all the leagues I might play in playable from start, and then drop leagues to View Only once my career progresses to where I wouldn't consider a job there anymore.

When loaning out players the main thing to consider is how competitive is the league he is playing in. If you’ve got a 20 year old at championship level, he needs to be a regular starter in either the championship or a league that’s equivalent. You need to consider your players adaptability (check coach/scout report) Plus you need to be sure he’s gonna get game time, so take note of who is in the team he’s going to and how regularly they are playing, and what form the player is in. If you have a GK you want to loan out and they’ve kept 5 clean sheets in a row, how likely is it your GK will get a game ? Also There’s no point sending out your trequartista/ inside forward wonderkid to PSG and he’s competing with Messi, Neymar and Mbappe for a place, all your player will be doing is keeping the bench warm. Also if he’s 21 or younger give him game time in your team if you can, younger players learn new traits quicker, so train the traits, give game time, then loan out.
So really what youre saying is that FM players need to invest in a expensive computer with a REALLY fast processor so they dont need to wait 10 minutes for the program to play games involving the 125000 international players in your save.
If you want to have more detailed information from the game, yes. How fast or slow; it's something personal.
No I am saying that you need to know what your system can handle, that way you can set things up for some interesting saves. I have a 15 year old laptop I play football manager on, and its set up to give me a realistic scouting experience with the limited leagues it can handle.
How do u scout a player further after your scouts have found him? Is it effective to just hit the magnifying glass that scouts to full knowledge? Ive heard some people leave one scout free to scout the players found, but i haven’t seen an explanation on how to do that!
In manual says 3-4 matches and you have nearly 80% - 90% all the info from the player.
A Ryzen 3900x has 12 cores 24 threads its not a 8 core CPU its a 12 core CPU, so did you mean you have a 3800x that has 8 cores and 16 threads.
