It was good to see that there was no serious physical injuries from the fight. Mama Genki despite being in poor health was trying to protect and calm Gentaro and little Kintaro was trying his best to lighten the mood with his entertaining rope swing. It was good to see them getting some tasty vegetables for lunch. 🙋♀️🦍🇬🇧
Brave little Kinny! Genki putting her arms around her son was touching. She’s very smart. Momo floated over wooden house like a butterfly! My heart would of floated out of my body if he came after me😂But it isn’t over until Momo stops pressing his mouth!
Like black lightening...he slithered...the ripple of his fur made it look like fur-fur. I would've needed it to soften my landing cuz my heart, mid beat would've just stopped if he was coming 4 me
There is no way Momo will let Gentaro feel that he is #1 he's schooling him as gentle as he can! There can be only 1head of this family! Momo you're doing a great job ! My heart goes out for Gentaro though! Hopefully he gives it up before Dad has to hurt him!❤

Gentaro’s crying is what got me all emotional. When Genki come behind him, and wrapped her arm around him, making him sit down. I thought for a second, he was going to put his finger in his mouth. How Momo stared into Gentaro’s eyes was so intense. Momotaro was showing Gentaro he was serious. I think, Momo would never physically hurt Gentaro but he will have to show his power and authority and this is why Gentaro needs to move on and make lovely baby gorillas with Annie🙂

Момо никогда не допустит второго лидера в группе. Непонятно, чего ждет зоопарк: Момотаро может в любой момент убить или покалечить Гентаро. Тем более, убежать Гентаро не может из этой тюрьмы. Почему-то все считают, что Момо очень милая горилла, но эта горилла обладает огромной силой и никто не знает, какие планы у него в голове. Зоопарк это знает и за столько лет не подготовили для Гентаро новое место.
Definitely tell Momma Genki isn’t her self, She’s looking frail and not acting like herself, She wanted to run after her husband and trying her best to intervene but she just couldn’t keep going. I’m really very Concerned about her. But Little Kentaro was definitely trying his best to stop Daddy from hurting his Big brother. Baby Boy has a Heart ❤️ of a Lion 🦁 but he’s still so tiny compared to Daddy and Gentaro. I Do think Momotaro was holding back and was scolding Gentaro for Something, But he didn’t really go all in on Gentaro, I wonder if Because Genki was trying to grab Gentaro and was screaming at Momotaro, got his attention because he stopped and was looking at poor little Frail Genki as if he didn’t want her upset , But I’m just so impressed by Baby Kentaro’s Bravery , He’s so precious and just wants everyone to Love each other. Poco se de sentimientos de animales, pero veo actitudes y ver como Kintaro (un renacuajo) intenta separar a dos "monstruos" por tamsño, es algo que encoje el corazón. Only a Silverback can teach his son what boundary lines are, which in turn teaches him how to fight to protect himself in the future. The father gorillas do this in the wild.
Interesting that at 17:54 Momo looks back and sees Gentaro behind him, then he gets up and lets Gentaro have the tire and the rock that he was sitting on. It seems like a deliberate gesture from Momo but I'm not quite sure what he was thinking at the time.
I think Momotaro knows that Genki is sick and doesn’t need to be stressed so he is disciplining both boys more these past few days. Of course I could be totally wrong 🤷🏾♀️

Some didn't think he'd get them.. even some accused the zoo of pulling them when he was in human care🙄🙄🙄. That's the stupidest thing I heard...No patience!
If this was triggered by Gentaros treatment of Genki, then clearly Gentaro's "you are just a kid" pass has expired, and by his size and behaviors it should be. It looked like, when he realized dad was very very serios and he could not escape Gentaro put his hand out to his fathers mouth in submission, and got it bit a little anyway. But that did put an end to the fight. When Gentaro pushed his way past his father we got to see Momotaro's top gear.
I was waiting yet for Momotaro's patience to run out. This is when the species coordinator is "asleep" (as at case of Higashiyama Zoo too with Kiyo). Gentaro is over 11 yo old, he should be living with his own family, in another zoo/group. I hope, he will be a "breeding male" and not in a bachelor group. Great video, many thanks!
Silverbacks shouldn't be with a female until they are at least 18. The bachelor group would really benefit Gentaro and teach him socialization in a safe group where he can't be too badly hurt. In the wild he would be in a bachelor group at this age.
Male gorillas typically go to a bachelor's group first. Then, they receive a mate when their more mature. Male gorillas normally don't stay with their natal troop in zoos before it's dangerous for the other members of the troop (the tension between father and son can be intense as the son matures) and to prevent incest. Fatal accidents have happened in enclosures like this before. Genki's mother was actually killed by a young silverback. These aggressive displays can get out of hand and gorillas have died from the fatal wounds received during this rough housing before.
I wish I knew way more about gorilla behavior would love to see the answer to some of the actions I observed of the ofter family members when that fight happened was interesting, to say the least. They are a fascinating lot to watch.
Wow -- Genki reaching out to hold back Gentaro. I think that's the most amazing thing I've seen her do. It's fascinating too because in so many of these situations that I've seen where the silverback suddenly decides to discipline a member of the troop, it seems like it usually ends with the entire troop retaliating against the silverback and chasing him off. It makes me think that gorilla troop dynamics may have evolved that way over the millenia as a way to keep the silverback's power in check. In means that the silverback has to really pick their battles carefully and when they do finally decide to react they know that they need to get their point across quickly, and then get out of town before the whole family starts in on him. So in this situation i would have totally expected Genki to retaliate against Momo but the fact that she instead chose to restrain Gentaro is fascinating and shows that she has a lot of insight into what's been going on. Gentaro has been staring down Momo for the past few weeks now but you'll notice that after the fight it was Momo who was doing the staring and Gentaro was looking away.
You still underestimate the awareness of these creatures. The situation was serious but unlike when frustrated Haoko unjustified attacked Riki and (later) Momoko or scolded Toto (!!) there was no need to drive the silverback away. Momotaros reaction was very measured, he just did enough to put Gentaro (who obviously sometimes just can't help it when the hormones get the better of him) in his place. As they check for wounds and reflect what's happenend they will learn from this experience as they did after the brawl in spring and avoid getting in an open fight even more.
She wasn't restraining Gentaro, he was cowering from his father and trapped in that spot. She was protecting him from Momo. She couldn't reach Momo so she grabbed the one she could. Momo was just doing his job though.
@@lizzyyork Does it occur to you that she might have been doing both -- trying to restrain and protect him at the same time? She might have felt that restraining him when he was in such a vulnerable spot was protecting him by preventing him from doing anything to escalate it further. Motivations are usually complex, rarely black and white.

That's one gorgeous silvery chest 😘. 9:45 I believe Genki's antibiotics 💊 are given with her special diet. 10:55 🤭 And silvery sculpted buns of solid steel! 11:27 Uh oh! 😮 Momo reached his limit. A fight? Eh these are more of a severe 🔥 scolding. 11:52 Blessed her heart, mama 💖 Genki held onto her son's waist, and little brave 💙 Kintaro wasn't letting go of his dad's leg either 😳. Afterwards the usual happens. 15:54 Gentaro, and 16:51 Momotaro evaluate and nurse their wounds, and look remorseful. And then things are usually calm again 17:45. Well disagreements between a father silverback 🦍 and teenage son are gonna happen in this space challenged enclosure until Gentaro is moved. Reluctant to say it, but I am sure the keepers have the antibiotic ointment always readily available 💁, and can directly apply it to Momotaro's and Gentaro's small hand bite wounds if needed
First and formost I hope Genki does not get pregnant again and I wish they would hurry up and finish the other enclosure and move Gentaro and put Kintaro with him please before someone gets hurt. Gentaro is getting big really big and will probably start defending himself more
Dear Japanese viewers and friends of Momotaro family, please tell the Kyoto Zoo that we are worried about Gentaro. He needs to go to a nice enclosure of his own and get a mate. ❤❤
They explained the problem one time not too long ago. Other zoos have to agree with it. Also not enough money to build bigger gorilla enclosure here. I think space may be a problem too. Very complicated. They may build a smaller enclosure just for Gentaro I think they said if necessary
Gentaro would be off and starting his own family and being the troop leader in the wild. I believe that is ridiculous saying another zoo “owns” him or and of these guys. I’m sure they are all in the silverback conservation program. Whichever zoo they are at is who is his KEEPER at that time. Swap them around if needed so conserve the critically endangered breed, but stop with “I own this one” crap. They also need to breed to release to the wild or semi wild situation because breeding them to stay in zoos is t helping the wild population.

Gentaro is always naughty, and now he is maturing fast. Gentaro tries to initiate play with Momotaro, but as Momotaro never had a father figure to learn and play, he takes it in a different sense.
That's what I feel, Gentaro sees his father playing with Kintaro and his mother giving Kintaro so much affection. I think even though Gentaro is showing his strength, I feel that he's just graving some attention from his father. It's got to weigh on his heart and his heart hurts. I remember when I felt the same way with my parents, me being the youngest of 4 siblings before me and I was an unplanned pregnancy , their hopes was a boy. My parents only thought of boy names and no girls. They took over a month to name me and only to take the name off of the Kleenex box. My whole family didn't want me, I did everything for attention like my sister's. My baby book is still blank to this day and there is only 4 pictures of me but there are home movies and loads of photo albums of them. My parents both had cancer and passed when I was young. My Heart is Completely Broken. I feel Gentaro is only looking for Love.
Are they able to see the sky? That place is so claustrophobic with the grill all over the top and the ground is cluttered with so much junk and rubbish no wonder the tempers flare out.
Gentaro would be great at an Aussie zoo with all that beauty, but then again I'd want them all down here and Genki could have her teeth seen to bless her. Our vets are the best 💚💛
Whatever happened it wasn’t at Genki. Momo came out of the box going to the left and the next thing you know came Gentaro, Momo from the right and Kintaro from the left. That makes me think whatever it was he did to Momo. I love Gentaro, but you would think that Child would know by now doing things at Momo, he’s only gonna take so much. Gorilla today, did you see what caused it? They were behind all that stuff and you couldn’t see. I feel bad for all involved, Momo doesn’t wanna do that, but Gentaro would test the ❤patience of God.
Kinny and Genki are amazing. They tried to help Gentaro, although he probably started it himself. We still take up for the people we love. I just hope Gentaro is ok.

Yep, this is going to happen more often than ever before. Gentaro needs to be moved asap. Momo will kill him. He'll be a full-blown silverback in Dec at age 12. I think Gentaro's left hand got bit during the last brawl. Real gorilla fights!

@@sowhat7472 Ummm if you think Momo doesn't know how to fight at 23 you are very nieve,he could kill Gent in 2 secs if he wanted to,he is giving him lessons and he is being gentle about it.Gorillas fight by punching like humans,they bite,usually biting places or limbs that they need the most to get the upper hand,they do bite the back a lot when they can get to it,don't think they don't know how it's bred into them to be able to protect their troop or another male will take over that troop if they don't win and then he will lose them all and be cast out.
Gentaro is too big to mess around with Mama Genki now. He used to annoy her after Genki gave birth to Kintaro because he was a naughty boy, and he knew she could not chase after him. Now, King Momo has to keep him check because Gentaro is grown now. ❤
Im more than sure, that momos patience reached its limit gentaros and ki.taros treatment of mom genki, is very wrong smacking her around l the time in front of fT mo, especially now that she is quite ill, and stressed out has forced dad to put gentaro into submision mo has been very patient, but its time to show these 2 boys whos really in charge mom genki is sick and should not be getting abused by them any longer😢😢😢

Only a Silverback can teach his son what boundary lines are, which in turn teaches him how to fight to protect himself in the future. The father gorillas do this in the wild.
Interesting that at 17:54 Momo looks back and sees Gentaro behind him, then he gets up and lets Gentaro have the tire and the rock that he was sitting on. It seems like a deliberate gesture from Momo but I'm not quite sure what he was thinking at the time.

If this was triggered by Gentaros treatment of Genki, then clearly Gentaro's "you are just a kid" pass has expired, and by his size and behaviors it should be. It looked like, when he realized dad was very very serios and he could not escape Gentaro put his hand out to his fathers mouth in submission, and got it bit a little anyway. But that did put an end to the fight. When Gentaro pushed his way past his father we got to see Momotaro's top gear.
I was waiting yet for Momotaro's patience to run out. This is when the species coordinator is "asleep" (as at case of Higashiyama Zoo too with Kiyo). Gentaro is over 11 yo old, he should be living with his own family, in another zoo/group. I hope, he will be a "breeding male" and not in a bachelor group. Great video, many thanks!
Silverbacks shouldn't be with a female until they are at least 18. The bachelor group would really benefit Gentaro and teach him socialization in a safe group where he can't be too badly hurt. In the wild he would be in a bachelor group at this age.
Male gorillas typically go to a bachelor's group first. Then, they receive a mate when their more mature. Male gorillas normally don't stay with their natal troop in zoos before it's dangerous for the other members of the troop (the tension between father and son can be intense as the son matures) and to prevent incest. Fatal accidents have happened in enclosures like this before. Genki's mother was actually killed by a young silverback. These aggressive displays can get out of hand and gorillas have died from the fatal wounds received during this rough housing before.

I wish I knew way more about gorilla behavior would love to see the answer to some of the actions I observed of the ofter family members when that fight happened was interesting, to say the least. They are a fascinating lot to watch.
Wow -- Genki reaching out to hold back Gentaro. I think that's the most amazing thing I've seen her do. It's fascinating too because in so many of these situations that I've seen where the silverback suddenly decides to discipline a member of the troop, it seems like it usually ends with the entire troop retaliating against the silverback and chasing him off. It makes me think that gorilla troop dynamics may have evolved that way over the millenia as a way to keep the silverback's power in check. In means that the silverback has to really pick their battles carefully and when they do finally decide to react they know that they need to get their point across quickly, and then get out of town before the whole family starts in on him. So in this situation i would have totally expected Genki to retaliate against Momo but the fact that she instead chose to restrain Gentaro is fascinating and shows that she has a lot of insight into what's been going on.
Gentaro has been staring down Momo for the past few weeks now but you'll notice that after the fight it was Momo who was doing the staring and Gentaro was looking away.
You still underestimate the awareness of these creatures. The situation was serious but unlike when frustrated Haoko unjustified attacked Riki and (later) Momoko or scolded Toto (!!) there was no need to drive the silverback away. Momotaros reaction was very measured, he just did enough to put Gentaro (who obviously sometimes just can't help it when the hormones get the better of him) in his place. As they check for wounds and reflect what's happenend they will learn from this experience as they did after the brawl in spring and avoid getting in an open fight even more.
She wasn't restraining Gentaro, he was cowering from his father and trapped in that spot. She was protecting him from Momo. She couldn't reach Momo so she grabbed the one she could. Momo was just doing his job though.

Does it occur to you that she might have been doing both -- trying to restrain and protect him at the same time? She might have felt that restraining him when he was in such a vulnerable spot was protecting him by preventing him from doing anything to escalate it further. Motivations are usually complex, rarely black and white.

Well disagreements between a father silverback 🦍 and teenage son are gonna happen in this space challenged enclosure until Gentaro is moved. Reluctant to say it, but I am sure the keepers have the antibiotic ointment always readily available 💁, and can directly apply it to Momotaro's and Gentaro's small hand bite wounds if needed

They explained the problem one time not too long ago. Other zoos have to agree with it. Also not enough money to build bigger gorilla enclosure here. I think space may be a problem too. Very complicated. They may build a smaller enclosure just for Gentaro I think they said if necessary
Gentaro would be off and starting his own family and being the troop leader in the wild. I believe that is ridiculous saying another zoo “owns” him or and of these guys. I’m sure they are all in the silverback conservation program. Whichever zoo they are at is who is his KEEPER at that time. Swap them around if needed so conserve the critically endangered breed, but stop with “I own this one” crap. They also need to breed to release to the wild or semi wild situation because breeding them to stay in zoos is t helping the wild population.

Gentaro is always naughty, and now he is maturing fast. Gentaro tries to initiate play with Momotaro, but as Momotaro never had a father figure to learn and play, he takes it in a different sense.
That's what I feel, Gentaro sees his father playing with Kintaro and his mother giving Kintaro so much affection. I think even though Gentaro is showing his strength, I feel that he's just graving some attention from his father. It's got to weigh on his heart and his heart hurts. I remember when I felt the same way with my parents, me being the youngest of 4 siblings before me and I was an unplanned pregnancy , their hopes was a boy. My parents only thought of boy names and no girls. They took over a month to name me and only to take the name off of the Kleenex box. My whole family didn't want me, I did everything for attention like my sister's. My baby book is still blank to this day and there is only 4 pictures of me but there are home movies and loads of photo albums of them. My parents both had cancer and passed when I was young. My Heart is Completely Broken. I feel Gentaro is only looking for Love.

Whatever happened it wasn’t at Genki. Momo came out of the box going to the left and the next thing you know came Gentaro, Momo from the right and Kintaro from the left. That makes me think whatever it was he did to Momo. I love Gentaro, but you would think that Child would know by now doing things at Momo, he’s only gonna take so much. Gorilla today, did you see what caused it? They were behind all that stuff and you couldn’t see. I feel bad for all involved, Momo doesn’t wanna do that, but Gentaro would test the ❤patience of God.
Kinny and Genki are amazing. They tried to help Gentaro, although he probably started it himself. We still take up for the people we love. I just hope Gentaro is ok.

For a big man, Momo is very fast! Glad the fight was calmed by Gink and Kintaro (a brave little man to try to hold his father off of Gentaro. And Mom for pulling her big son back. The look on his face was very saddening.
