The duality of man. The ideal end is either 1: a grueling, desperate final stand against seemingly overwhelming odds. Dig in your heels and fight to the last. Or 2: a brutal offensive into an oppressing fortress against well planned and heavily fortified defenses. Once more into the breach.
The worst part is when you spend the entire game doing something like this and then your team successfully defends a point before it ever gets to your super fob and it was all for nothing lol
A very good example how super fobs must be built. The only miss on your side is actually manning the defenses with the whole team, not just your squad + a few blueberries.
Super fobs generally don’t actually help a win 99% of cases, and doing it on the last objective is madness. By the time they are attacking the last point they have rolled through each objective (because your squad is digging) and have hundreds of tickets. Like in this video. They just very often aren’t worth the cost of having a full squad away from the front lines.
@@TheOtherOtherAccountmany players don’t know what a super fob is. I agree that 99% of times we see a super fob it’s a pathetic picture. The FOB in the video isn’t perfect either. They should be not only placed with enough tickets to fight back, but also preferably in a location with buildings (industructable structures) to not suffer too much damage when the enemy commander figures to use an artillery barrage. The defence also must be assembled around the FOBs blue circle, not 5 steps away from the HAB. And the defence must be manned by the whole team.
@@deusvult7721 Plus, there need to be several 'strongpoints' and not just one circle around the objective. If your whole team is in the same place, 2 machinegunners and an IFV can surpress your whole team and you can never fight back, and one arty strike will flatten everyone
The middle white building is the original building, a sort of watch tower thats hard to assail because of its interior being cramped and favouring attackers. These fortifications usually also have an earthen outer wall or palisade. They are quite common in most of northern europe, from Scotland to Estonia. The stone walls were added later as a more reliable first defense and to enable the castle to hold more personnel and materiel. I think it also got additional star fortress like fortifications even later on. I dont know if it was used in WW2 but i doubt it. Either way now youre the ones adding the newest fortifications to it.
Bro we had castle built up last week with layered defenses, and entire barb wire perimeter, it was glorious. And we stopped them at the abandoned factory and the enemy never saw it :(
In other words, the castle was so intimidating that you broke their will to fight from just the rumors of how great the defenses were! They could see it on the horizon and were like "Nah, F that we lose here instead"
Super FOBs can work, but requires the whole team to be on board. Also, it can't just be the last point because then it diverts resources away from the rest of the fight. Moreover, if the rest of the team isn't attriting the enemy, then you'll get what happened here where the enemy will roll you over with numbers.
I really enjoyed this video, so I'm going to sub and leave a like. Not because I liked it, but because I am Australian. I heard something about emus and that you were building a super fort to defeat them. Seriously though, great video, thanks for uploading. Cheers and have a good one mate. *P.S, my grandfather was in the army when that happened and he was 'volun-told'. He said he didn't join the army to kill birds, so he did what all Aussies would do; they instead used it as an excuse to get pissed every night. Then the Australian government pulled the plug and offered a bounty to farmers for every bird they killed which did the trick. Moral of the story; if you want an Aussie to do something, offer beer or money for beer. It works every time.
A great way to make make fortifications good is for OWI to allow us to build during staging phase, and give us the ability to dig actual trenches (though engine limitations may keep that from being a thing). Being able to build dynamic trench lines and AP mines would be awesome as hell, and would give a whole new dynamic to the invasion game mode
this only works in Belaya Tunnel. Have a hab inside those small tunnels, get machine guns and small bunkers at the part of the tunnels that lead into the room inside (which will have the hab and radio) and put barbed wires so that enemies can not get close. It is literally impossible to capture. Have your whole team stationet there too and you basically win the game.
Why is it called a spade you ask? A spade is better at cutting through compacted soil and creating more precise holes. Shovels are for shallow holes and moving dirt. (paraphrased from Google result for Lowe's lmao)
I love the fact that you have built a super FOB but in the end it became a big target for basically anything that the enemy could throw at it, like all those mortar attacks must have been so easy to call in by the SL's, I bet the enemy team at the end just shook each others penises and screamed "GG's!!!" not knowing how much effort has went into building that SFOB - but hey, it was fun to watch, probably fun to be there in the moment and as a bonus: Jumbo Jonsen really did have stayed in the game without disconnecting - I call that success!
d00d, in the early days we would make SuperFOBs like this all the time... Then Arty came along lol I wish they would nerf the damage done to Buildables. Just knock them down half way or something!
Can you imagine being one of those aussies and seeing the absolute beast of a castle 😂 bruh I’d be like hell naw pack it up we’re leaving screw it if we lose
Fortifications aren't useless if 1. properly manned. 2. Not a coffin The problem with super fobs is that they take way to long to make and are never strongly defended enough or well thought out enough to withstand a heavy assault Part of it is because it is human nature to want to fortify yourself into a little box and shoot outward. This leads to encirclement, bombardment and ultimately the toppling of the fob. And on the other side of the coin you have a squad super fobbing on invasion and their defenses are so widespread that cannot be properly manned by 50 men, nonetheless the 9 guys who built it. Before enough of the team spawns in a number of things happen to topple the defense, be it a breach in the wire, a clever proxy/radio kill on the hab while the defenders are out of position will render a super fob dead. All that said, fortifications are best used when placed thoughtfully in key locations that are likely always going to be manned or placed in such a way that they don't cutoff escape routes. Blocking lines of sight but not blocking paths of movement, breaking up open space to minimize the effects of shrapnel, etc.
You could build like crazy in Post Scriptum, but ever since OWI/MA took over the game and renamed it to Squad 44, logistics got gutted more and more with every new update.
Been interesting watching the Ukraine war and the prevalence of drones and missiles that are able to intercept missiles. Trenches are back and the development of energy based weapons may push it back to needing a huge energy source could push it over to castles.
Incredible. Combat engineer is on the final flag helping build this useless monstrosity instead of hunting enemy attack radios and mining the roads to help deal with enemy armor. Thousands of build and ammo, plus a full squad at least, far, far away from the relevant flags helping the team. Superfobs are always a mistake, but doing it on literally the last cap in what I presume is an invasion game, means that you're banking on the enemy gaining tix for capping the advance flags...putting your own team in an even more precarious position.
Super FOB on last point gives you alot of time to build and cuts down on logi run duration, which lets you build much faster, every shovel is needed. But yeah, as we all know, this kinda fortification doesn't work against modern military firepower
Well done Super FOB. The problem with most Super FOBs in Squad is theyre built by kids who grew up playing Minecraft. Its just garbage stacked on garbage. No pushed out defenses so your HAB immediately gets proxied. Weapon emplacements pointing nowhere with no concern for field of fire arc.
The largest fortification is useless if it is not manned. I have seen so many superfobs fall in minutes because nobody was manning the defenses. Edit: oh my god, is that a vehicle pit made out of hesco?
superfobing is usseles, 1 artillery barrage and its over, your just letting them take like what, 400 extra tickets by capping those flags before getting to you?

So much time WASTED.
This, plus when nobody mans the defenses and the place folds immediately
This is why nobody builds defenses or does logi runs- it's too common for it to never get used or get destroyed instantly and do nothing
