- Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson stood behind a lectern after the worst statistical game of his career. In a 33-17 home loss to the Dallas Cowboys in Week 1, Watson posted an 8.3 total QBR and averaged 2.6 air yards per attempt, both career-low marks. He was indecisive, his downfield targets were erratic, and he was sacked six times as his offensive line struggled.
In the aftermath, Watson was asked if such a performance could shake his confidence.
"Hell no," Watson answered. "I'll always be Deshaun Watson, regardless of whoever else says otherwise."
Watson, at least the Pro Bowl version who the Browns hoped would catapult their roster to Super Bowl contention, has failed to appear since the franchise traded three first-round picks to the Houston Texans and gave him a fully guaranteed $230 million in March 2022. It goes back to what Dustin said about certain teams having a culture of success and the Browns not having that. Every time this team gets a small taste of success they think they arrived and they fall apart the next year. There’s no culture of winning here and they just think winning like ten games and making a playoff appearance is good enough.
The culture of success is nothing more than the front office making the right decisions and the coaching do their job. To improve they need to start over again.
Hunt had 102 yards rushing for the Chiefs. 2nd week in a row being the games leading rusher.....starting for the 2 time superbowl champions but wasn't good enough for the Browns they only put him in to pick up an inch to a yard and he did it every time and everything they asked and the paid him back by cutting him and claiming he lost a step...he'll probably win a superbowl and he deserves it. yes I question coaching on grading player skill assessment,player development,and putting team in position to win. If the defense quit on the team because of the offense then that shouldn’t be the nfl they still getting paid millions to perform

GBush continues to ignore facts. The Bills were a playoff team before they drafted Allen. The Ravens were 9-7 when they drafted Lamar. Also both teams traded UP for their guys. The Bills went from 21 to 12 to 7 to get him. The Ravens went from #52 to #32 for Lamar.
He’s a massive Baker hater. No matter how much he balls. He’s such a clown.
The Browns also have never developed a QB. Josh Allen or Lamar Jackson on the Browns under Haslem, Berry and Stefanski would have turned out just like Baker. I can't even be optimistic about the potential for a top 5 draft pick next year because I have 0 faith that they can identify and develop a QB of the future.

Watson can block form himself, he can't run the routes and catch the ball and he doesn't play defense. The Browns issues are deeper than 1 player. This is the result of an analytics built team. No chemistry.

Coaching staff blows. Jerome ford avg over 5 yards a carry. Had 1 carry in first 3 qtrs.
Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson have not won a super bowl. Not to mention Winston has been cut from multiple teams. So now he is the answer. You all reaching. The line hasn't changed. Winston going to experience the same problem.
Vets will play hard for DTR. You could tell when he played the steelers last year how much it meant to him.

Yes this has been my main question. Why is this a full team implosion. Again some will say its because the O is not doing anything and the D is on the field too long. There is truth to much of that. However, especially in that WAsh game multiple passes were overthrown with WRs wide open that would have been blown coverage TDs. And some were caught as well with even Ward looking confused. Seeing many Joe Woods "was that your man or my man moments" in combo with no consistent pass rush and containment. Always get beat on the ends and ALWAYS on a jet sweep.

The defense has its issues but those are mostly correctable. However you can see it, whenever the team in a 2 score hole, they quit. Both sides. Wrs arent running hard to get open because they know the ball isnt coming to them, defense is tired because the offense just went 3 and out for the X time in a row. The problem is DW. The film doesnt lie. Guys are open. He's also taking sacks for no reason. I saw plays where if he just passes the ball its a good decision because everyone was open. Instead he runs and gets 3 yards. The man is averaging more per run than per pass. This is worse than rookie qb level stuff. You cant be year 5 of your program and have this. KS might really let this man get him fired. Maybe thats what he wants idk.
Deshaun Watson is going to go down in Browns history as another failed quarterback. Except worse because of the draft picks they gave up and money they spent on him.
I agree with GB about the defense....to a point. Expecting the defense to only give up 10-14 points a game will probably wear thin after 5 games. I know it probably shouldn't but a poor low scoring offense is going to eventually affect the defense to some extent. Winston needs to start next game.
The biggest issue is the Browns need a new owner. At this point who really has any faith in the rebuilding process and future drafting with Haslam as the owner.

I hear G about morale. And in a perfect world, morale wouldn’t affect athletes. But it does. Imagine being a defender for the Browns and seeing, over and over and over again, that the offense does nothing. Of course that will affect how the defense plays.

Bench deshaun after sunday, make him trade sweats with chubb on the sideline if he even wants to be out there at all. Let jameis play this season, give DTR a shot the last 4 games if that doesnt work. Jameis will be gone next season. Trade Coop for OL, Draft an OL, cut deshaun eat the 86 mil, we are revuilding post deshaun even if he plays out his entire contract on the roster. let DTR play next year if there isnt a better veteran option. If DTR improves significantly give him a baker level APY contract. No point in getting a hugh draft pick QB if we dont have an O line.

The collapse of the Browns is on the shoulders of the owners, front office and coaching. They wanted Watson, the front office brings the players in and from what I have seen not very well. The coaching was very good last year but not this year.

deshaun is a problem but isnt the only problem the O LINE is a big problem along with playcalling. this late in the season its hard to want to do anything. being apart of a failed orginization is worse than not playing at all, Theres 31 other teams that could treat you better and elevate your play.
