According to preliminary investigations by the UN Human Rights Office, the children's hospital in Kiev was directly hit by a Russian Kh-101 missile. This is the conclusion reached by experts who have analyzed video footage and directly examined the damage on site, according to Danielle Bell, the head of the United Nations Observer Mission for Human Rights in Ukraine. She calls this "one of the most egregious attacks we have seen since the invasion began".
The staff had brought the young patients to safety in the bunker shortly before the attack on Monday, she said. Otherwise, the number of victims would have been significantly higher. According to her, two people died in the attack.
All 600 children hospitalized there were taken to other health facilities. The hospital, where many children with cancer and other serious illnesses were treated, had been badly damaged and could no longer be used without extensive repairs. The World Health Organization (WHO) office in Kiev showed the situation on the ground on Platform X.
