- Rail America's original property, the Huron & Eastern served the "thumb" area of eastern Michigan. The original lines of the railroad were former Pere Marquette, which was recognized in the railroad's initial paint scheme. Geeps 100 and 101 are shown in 1989 on the ex-PM line between Elkton and Bad Axe. The 201/204 are shown in 1991approaching Reese on the ex-PM, then crossing over the ex-TSBY nee NYC Vassar-Munger line acquired earlier in the year. After picking up more cars, they reverse onto the NYC and are shown negotiating the wye at Denmark Jct. and heading west on the now abandoned line to Saginaw.
WOW, this is amazing footage! Thank you! This is like one of those "dream come true" videos. For years I would think that footage like this exists somewhere, will they ever share it? And here it is, you shared it! thanks a million!
Holy shit 1:18 ace checker is flying!! I never see trains go that fast on these lines anymore.
Those Huron & Eastern units look nice. I love Michigan short lines.Good video well done .

Those GPs were beauties. I remember them well.
Great film to video conversion! Love it! Thanks for sharing!
The GP9s are long gone, but the 201 and 204 still work for the Huron & Eastern today, though with different numbers.
Was this RA's first ever shortline?
I believe so, yes.
Any railway footage from Standish, Gaylord & Omer?
Pat French never heard of it
@@fmnut They are Michigan towns.
@@PatFrenchLeafsFan1 try my Detroit & Mackinac and Lake States videos, I think there's something Gaylord and Grayling in there.
@@fmnut Good for you!
Is that a s5t on 100?
I think it might be a Third Generation Prime-920, which were known for having their 25 bells play 247-250hz or a low B. These horns managed to play the intended S-3L chord better than the S-3L itself. It could also be a very early S-3L or S-5T that has a 25 playing the correct B note.
It’s an S5T.
@@theark-la-missrailfanthis must've been late fall, early winter, or late winter for the 25 bell to be playing a B instead of a C.
