    This was really helpful! A primary reason why I am extremely interested in the SCCP is because I am making the transition into cyber from 8 years of helpdesk and becoming familiar with the way in which ISC2 structures their questions will help me in my pursuit of the CISSP. My interests and primary focus is far more on the GRC side of things career wise. Thanks for the info.

      No problem, i also did the SSCP with the goal of doing CISSP soon! Good luck on your path :)

    SSCP, and CGRC are great certificates to begin with. I highly recommend that. These certificates demonstrate the skillset, and baseline of NIST - SPs. Although Sec+ is an entry level certificate and as today's date it only shows that you have interest in Cyber Security - sadly - it isn't a big thing anymore. SSCP, and CGRC are to go certificates. Good lucks guys

      Hi Do you recommend that one should just pass the ISC2 Cybersecurity Certificate (CC) exam which is currently free and then prepare directly for the ISC2 CGRC - Governance, Risk and Compliance Certification? Please guide as I was thinking of this path ISC2 CC + CompTIA Security plus then ISC2 CGRC - Governance, Risk and Compliance Certification and after enough experience prepare for the CISSP exam. Thanks.

    SSCP is not a beginner type certification. It is considered an intermediate to low level expert and the actual exam is more difficult to pass. So unless you have taken the actual exam, I am not sure how your qualified to say its a beginner type exam. The CC exam certification from ISC2 would actually be the beginner type exam

      Hi, I have indeed completed the certification last year :) but I also agree with you that it may fall into an intermediate category.

    I wonder if ISC² CC will be added to the DoD list for IAT level I or level II like SSCP

    • @tutuuo
      @tutuuo 10 місяців тому +2

      Sec+ is above CC. I highly recommend Sec+. CC will not lend you or a job nor will look nice in a resume.

      @@tutuuo Being a member of ISC² and having access to that professional network, will. And when you fully obtain CC you become a member of ISC² and can leverage your local chapter as a professional network.
      Having Sec+ gets you no access to a professional network to find employment, it's a $400 cert that *every applicant has* that means fuck all by itself.

      I am a ISC2 member and I need renew it lol. I guess we have different point of view but I would like to stick to "DoD Approved 8570 Baseline Certifications" Let me know if you find CC. Have a good day sir.

    Hello thanks a lot for the wonderful information.
    I have a question that i need your guidance and assistance
    I need to establish a path in cybersecurity but i don't know where to start from.
    have been told to consider security+ as the starting point.
    Kindly can you give a break down of the certifications (career Path) i need to consider to achieve this
    From beginner, advanced and expert levels
    Thanks in advance

      Hi, no problem! Do you have any previous IT experience? If so, then Security+ will be good to start from. If not I would recommend A+ by CompTIA. After this it depends where your interest in Cyber Security is as there is a lot of different roles which require different skills.

  • @vadivambigaramachandran8211

    I have around 5 years of experience in both network and cybersecurity. I am working in cybersecurity for a year now and just passed my CC from ISC2. I want to know if SSCP or compris security+ is good for my career.

    • @imentor__
      @imentor__  Рік тому +1

      Hi, so it depends. If its just to get a job then I’d say Security+ as its has a higher reputation. If it’s just to further your knowledge then SSCP will be more challenging for you given your current experience.

    If I already have the Security +, is it a waste of time to pursue the SSCP?

    • @imentor__
      @imentor__  6 місяців тому

      I would usually suggest you do one or the other unless a job is specifically asking for it.

      @@imentor__ If you wait until a job requires the SSCP or anyother certification, that advertisement might close up before you can reapply for that particular job. You need to be, "Proactive and NOT Reactive" in ones career. So its best to already have those certifications one might need in the future, don't you agree?

    • @imentor__
      @imentor__  5 місяців тому

      @gilgilbert5866 Yes, its always better to be proactive. However, this is more generic advice rather than looking for a specific job. E.g. SSCP is not as popular in the UK than it is in the US. Therefore, jobs in the UK mainly ask for Sec+, so you know to target that cert as a generic option if you’re not sure which one to do.
