Mark Williams - Liam Highfield I UK Snooker Championship 2016 I Frame 8
Mark Selby - Liam Highfield I Welsh Open 2016 I Frame 3 - Спорт
The most outstanding demonstration of world-class safety play within a single frame of snooker that I have ever witnessed and genuinely entertaining as well. Well done Ryan Day!
If Selby or Higgins pulled off that Ryan Day comeback everyone would be raving about it, every credit too him 👏👏👏👏👏
for real tho
@@stephengeorge4058 can’t have it put back when needing snookers, miss rule doesn’t apply

Wanted to watch a few mins, stayed for the whole thing. Amazing play by Day
wow that was awesome ! Fu really didn't do anything wrong , but Day did what he had to !
the first shot he made in this video was completely wrong. He put the black in front of the pocket instead of putting it safe. Or he should have put another color safe. But not that silly shot.
@@AngrierGorillaBit harsh I think. He was focused on the cue ball and almost got the snooker
@@lucas29476 yes and it was almost succesful, but the choice is wrong. When you are ahead and the opponent needs snookers, putting a color safe is the best choice. Especially with 3 reds still on the table, putting the black safe means almost another snooker needed
Hey fu too....🤣🤣🤣
That shot by Mark King might be the best shot I’ve ever seen. Honestly
When Hawkins and King started their match they both had hair
I play a lot of snooker. Ryan Day is without doubt ranks as in the top 5 in the world for that period. He played a great game.👍👍
Thank You for posting non edited snooker.....thumbs up
Well done, Day.
Proud of you.
I LOVE snooker when frames are like this. Ryan Day 100% DESERVED to win that, epic frame, what a great player.
Fu meistert die Defensive einfach Klasse. Er spielt überlegter und ruhiger.
The real craft of the game.
Great video. My favourite kind of frames
Great player, Ryan Day ❗
all that effort from mark king i thought he was gunna win that frame 😂
He won the following frame so won the match & tournament - so he was happy
sdrtcacgnrjrc was a cracking effort nevertheless. i bet Hawkins was shitting bricks lol
+Danny Flint absolutely!
remember admiring the persistence, but thinking he wouldnt really make it happen. But he did.
It's 4AM and I am watching two players named FU & DAY. It figures.
Thanks a mill for sharing this.
great fights! ty for sharing
Nice compilations. Really interesting situations
Or situacions 😁
that shot at 30:05 is incredible
Easily the best shot of Mark King's entire career.
@@henrikhyrup3995 Brilliant, only a pro could make that shot.

It's not. Mark King is a sucker.
love this 💕
at 40:05 it's Mark Williams' shot if Highfield did in fact hit the red.. you can see at 40:12 though it's Liam taking it on? If he did hit the red, how has Mark asked him to play on??
Edit: I realised that Highfield must have taken his shot as the replay was on screen.
Mark Day's win was epic.
Do you mean Ryan Day or Mark King?
@@rs-qt1qg he might mean Mark Selby or Mark Williams 🤣🤣
Yes, Too bad Ryan Fu lost
Liam Williams and Mark Fu were epic too

Pretty interesting sittewasians.
I swear Marco Fu has always looked the same. He has not aged.
Best tempament in the game I say. Certainly has a great poker face.
Wow tough battles!
Awesome Game Playing
Awesome Content
Well done 👏👏👏👏
Truly extraordinary play - highly entertaining.
(Well worth a Like-n-Sub! Thanks.)
Ryan Day; underrated player
Apologies if I am being stupid here, Selby vs Highfield, free ball situation. Selby pots the brown as the "red", pots the yellow, but the yellow doesn't get re-spotted, then pots the green? I'm confused, I thought a free ball acted as another red-colour scenario followed by potting the colours in sequence. Or have I missed something entirely??
With no reds on the table, the brown free ball is in place of the yellow. The referee incorrectly called '1' as the break, which confused things, but the scoreboard correctly showed 2 for the free ball brown (in place of the yellow), which then had to be followed by yellow, green, brown, etc.
Zonda17Cinque thanks for explanation! The ref call of 1 did confuse me greatly.
I think he realised his mistake as he called 4 after the yellow went in, but chose not to correct himself before the next shot so as to not affect Mark’s concentration
The green grass from home is an excellent all round player as he's from Gwent in Wales Tom Jones and Ashley maducks STOBART driver
Selby Highfield match the cue ball was tight to the cushion on first shot on the yellow. Every miss the queue ball was about 1cm from the cushion and highfield told him to move it.
That scream at 36:00 hahaha 😂
21:16 this is me and my friend everytime we play pool, only we are both trying to knock the pink ball in..
😂
Great
around 20pts comback is pretty good. Also Hawkings vs King game audience had their palms reddish and sore after 5h match
The snooker team should play that music when they bring mark out from the curtains into the arena green green grass from home tom Jones song yes please let's hear it for Mark Williams
fu missed that snipe on the red, and after that well, snooker after snooker. rip
Great frame by ryan

Anyone know a way for me to be notified of Snooker matches so I could watch them on livestreams?

Marco Fu never learned how to get out of snooker, so he's at the end of the rankings
Why didn’t Barry Hawkins just pot the pink? He had ample opportunity to do so as he was ahead by 20.
Is there a part 2
Bless Willy
Very interesting, although I don't know what a situaction is.
Does anyone know why Olivier Marteel took so long to call the free ball? It was very obviously a free ball
In the last clip, the Selby/Highfield frame, Selby potted the brown as a 'free ball' for the score of 1 (equivalent of a red ball) then potted the yellow and moved onto the green. Shouldn't that yellow have been re-spotted for him to pot again? Or are the rules different when they are down to the last 6 colours?
54:09 for the shot in question
The thing is, as you said, they're on the colours. He nominated brown as the free ball, which in that case is worth 2 points as the ball he has to hit is yellow. Once he pots the brown, the brown is respotted and he continues clearing the rest of the colours (the next being the yellow ball).
He was awarded 2 points (53->55), however the referee made a mistake and said "one".
Edit: In fact, you can hear the referee say "two, sorry" just as Mark is getting down on the shot at 54:33.
@@CroPukyBro I missed the ref correcting himself. Thanks for the explanation 👍
in the last clip Highfield had the ref move the yellow ball further away from the cushion than the initial shot. It was almost tight to the cushion the first time then at least half an inch off after that. In the end it didnt make any difference but snooker players dont usually try to gain an advantage like that they are usually pretty good at getting the balls back in same spot
41:30 Highfield attempts to swallow the remaining balls in an effort to win the frame
Great comeback from Ryan Day. The late Eddie Charlton used to grind down opponents in a similar way.
So what is the rule if a situation like King/Hawkins went on for hours or even days ?
Day's game was a nightmare for fu...
Fu was like "f u, day".
Oi oi oi wait, good to see manners are present
can someone explain to me (i know next to nothing about snooker) what was going on in the first clip? Day couldn't catch up there wasn't enough points left, what was the win condition? what would "4 snookers" do?
Getting a "snooker" is basically not leaving a direct shot towards the ball he needs to hit (so it's hidden behind other balls or in some extreme cases behind the cushion in the corner of the pocket). In order to come out of snooker the player usually has to play a shot with heavy spin (in order to spin past the ball blocking it) or via cushion. The more cushions required in order to get the correct angle to hit the correct ball the more difficult the shot. Each successful snooker (opposite player not able to hit the correct ball) will award (atleast) 4 points and an option to let an opponent to try the shot again from the same spot (from the hidden spot).
You can't be snookered by a cushion. Angled yes but not snookered
Could Funhave just broken the brown green blue setup, conceding a foul but making the table much less friendly to getting snookers?
I was wondering the same thing a while ago, so I looked up the rules. If a player fouls, and the foul leads to a board layout (table layout?) that the other player doesn't want, then they can have the layout reset to what it was before the fouling shot.
no, in a case when a player fouls intentionally, the ref can call a miss even if there aren't enough points on the table
No that’s not the case. A miss cannot be called when snookers are required. If there aren’t enough point available on the table, a Miss can’t be called.
A little confused as to why Highfield didn’t roll up to the yellow on the last frame without using a cushion. Wouldn’t it have been safe?
I'm a bit confused that Selby played brown as free ball and potted a yellow from it the next pot should have been a yellow again....or am I missing something
@@kartikeyarana995 well, basically the brown counts as a yellow. So instead of 27 you end up with a possible 29. So you’d take the order of colours as normal once the free ball is taken.
@@VINNIEJONES10 thnx for the clarification, much appreciated 👍
10:39 That "oh, dude, you're annoying" face.
So why didn't the ref call him for deliberately missing? After all the rules of snooker are so strict it seems everything is a foul. 🤷🏼♂️
I am certain there have been more dramatic nights in Belfast!?
Can we just take a moment and look at the word situations.. it's spelt with a bloody C, situacion.. now that's truly interesting.
When he had one of those shots on the red, Fu should have maybe considered getting the white ball to hit through the brown green and blue balls.
At 39:45 ish with Williams and Highfield, Highfield missed the red and hit the blue! It is quite obvious he missed it because you can even hear the sound of the ball hitting the blue, therefore if he hit the blue ball after the rebound off the red you would have heard the red being hit, the white ball would have lost momentum and barely have enough inertia to hit the blue but the blue ball moved significantly. I call a miss!
51:47
That was way off the original cue ball’s position
WHAT IS A SNOOKER???? Haha thus just popped up in my thread and I can't stop watching but this first game, I have NO IDEA what's going on 🤣🤣🤣
A snooker is basically where you can't hit the ball that's "on" (I.e. that you're legally supposed to hit first) because of an intervening ball. If you fail to hit the ball "on" your opponent gets (a minimum of) 4 points
@@tg92277 ohhhh...hey cool thanks man!
51:03 original position, 51:56 replaced - really quite a lot further off the cushion!
9:11 he's asleep!😂
For the 2nd one, the commentators seem to be talking from a dual carriageway. Or sounds like it!
51:00 - 51:45 ref moving the ball the wrong direction! Highfield could have shown some sportsmanship there...
👍
38:10 Complicated shot
In Shelby’s, why didn’t Shelby hit a color after the free brown ball. He went straight to the colors after that free ball.
A good situsshishun to be in.
What happens in a snookers required stage, if your opponent fouls and leaves you snookered from the object ball..?
@uygk
In that scenario, you have 2 options. You can either play the shot yourself or put your opponent in to play.
can someone explain to me why selby just didnt make the red initially? he was only behind 13 right/ 31-44. why was he doing a weird shot
that red was very tough, not guaranteed at all. Plus he needed the green to clear up, so he tried to develop brown and green with that shot. The choice wasn't bad imho, he was just a little unlucky fouling the brown
i get the idea of playing pool or snooker.. i play it too from time too time but ... where the hell are their beers ?
you need to get back to the eighties for all that
Funny that I'm getting out now to buy beer to play tomorrow 😁
Admired like Antonio Banderas
What would happen if at 7:10 Marco Fu would deliberately disturb the coloured cluster instead of trying to hit the red? Would the balls be rearranged since the "miss" rule does not apply? He would lose 4 points, sure, but then he would make the table less snooker friendly. What's the rule in this case?
@@ChucklesMcGurk Thank you. Wow...I've never heard of this rule.
I think if you play a shot that's deemed to be unsportsmanlike the referee can decide to award the frame to your opponent. Plus the players have too much class to ever do anything like that.
Any purposeful foul can be deemed as a lost frame, you cannot purposefully foul in billiards, or even 8ball or 9ball pool for that matter. It goes against the sportmanly conduct of the game.....
After reading the "foul and miss" rule carefully I think it would be applied if the referee is satisfied that no real attempt was made to hit a red. So balls could be replaced and so no point!
@@adrianwright8685 it wouldn't under that law you stated. Any deliberate foul by the player is a lost frame. Hate to be that guy... I've played semi proffessional 8ball pool and Billiards for about 15years now, we alternate refs in games (So if we are not playing we ref someone else's game on a different table) so we have to know the rules, albeit any player of any sport should know the rules anyway.
I'm 99% sure you misread the context of the "miss and foul" rule.
And some people don't like Ronnie Osullivan....
If this is Part 1, where is Part 2 ?
38:50 was a clear foul and referee did miss it. It was a push
Correct me if I’m wrong, but if it hit the red (which it did) it’s not a foul, right?
10:22 - Hallett needs 3 snookers not 5
No disregard to Fu but Day's performance an was O'Sullivan level performance.
Can anyone explain why Highfield need to take a short from same foul position again and again in last match
that was just a bad shot from fu the first one on the black. Always go for the pot!
I'm surprised by how many players wear wristwatches on their left hand. I would find any watch annoying when cueing, let alone that giant one that Fu is wearing.
green day vs foo fighters
why did the yellow not go back after selby potted it, as he potted a free ball (which was classed as a red) which then went to the next colour, to which he would of then had to go for yellow?
Yeah -- that confused me as well.
I wouldn't think it's that hard to spell the title correctly.
Nice, come to join with billiards WTF shoot
loyalty snooker.
You spelled the word "situations" wrong in your title.
why on earth did not Marco Fu put the black (or another color) safe... this puzzles me even now.
mentally he did not think he can lose the frame
Ca someone tell me what happens when the cueball gets surrounded by other colours that physically prevent the cueball being able to hit the target?
In an impossible snooker the player has to play towards an 'on' ball with sufficient force that it would have reached without the other balls being in the way. A foul but not a miss.
@8:00 why can't he opt for respot and get Marco to take the shot again
Because in the snookers needed phase of the game - I'm no expert but that's what the commentator said
