I think what the song is highlighting is that religion is confusing in general. Like why would god make people who think like you? Who are as devout as you? Only to make them Buddhist or Muslim. I’m guessing your a Christian. He’s simply stating the the inner thoughts we all have. Which religion is true? Who’s got it right? Why are there so many options? Why do bad things happen regardless of god? Why is the only answer to this found by subscribing to one of the many different religions institutions? It’s not a song to slander god really. It’s more of a song of self belief and self reliance instead of giving into dogma. Like you can still believe in god, it’s just that gods not gonna hold your hand in life. He is throwing us to the wolves, and it’s up to us to figure things out and not rely on institutions, and false prophets
