Your layout is a lot more childproof than other layouts for good reason. I’m happy you haven’t got caught up with detail to the point he can’t play on the layout. Your layout looks nice and is just part of the room. The white looks great.

Thanks a lot! Yeah between making the layout Kid-Friendly it’s paired well with the less-detailed semi scale stuff I have. I wanted to strike a middleground between the more classic postwar toy-like setup and the detailed realistic modern scale stuff.

The white trim looks so clean! I would definitely connect those parking tracks to the main lines eventually. - Ryan

Nice layout update Mike! The trim looks fantastic around the edges. And the rock wall / face turned out great! Always enjoy your updates!

Thanks so much! I used to have to avoid filming sections of the layout because of how rough it looked.
      Really sharpens things up!

Looks good I like the ideas . Will the pvc keep the trains off the floor . I glued a few wooden barrels on the table by the dangerous turns for the kids

No, they’re not really tall enough to keep trains from toppling over. My intention was just to finish up the look and make it durable. The rounded edge makes it easier for my son to get stuff on and off the tracks.

Awesome update. Love the trim and great job on the rocks! What did you use to paint it?

Thanks! Just some rustoleum hammered finish stuff I had in the garage from a different project. Didn’t seem to melt the foam too badly.

That looks so good, where did you get that board? Was it hard to bend around the curves? That rock face came out really nice, good idea to use a Dremel to do some carving.

Got the board from Home Depot. Friend of mine that has a buncha woodworking stuff at his home suggested using it. He was kind enough to cut the boards down to the right width and round the edges. It was a little tricky getting the bend right around one of the turnaround sections but after securing enough points down it’s pretty close!
