Maybe if doing individual ships is hard to get info on, you could do videos on the navy of different Gundam Universes. What ships there were and how they were altered during the events of the series overall.
Its interesting to speculate how quickly the Federation would've won had the Minovsky Particles not been discovered by Zeon. Heck, if the Federation had caught on early enough they could've switched gears
No, the Federation has always been corrupt, and doing just that would mean someone has a brain that is against the powers in such places. Think Russia, and you'll get the gist of the Federation.
Thanks kakarot!!!! I really love the space battleship in the gundam universe, hope you can do more of these ship video! I wish bandai can release these ship model kit.
Heaven knows why they'd bother with all those mega particle cannons when we know machine gun fire of high enough MM can work just as fine, if not even better for consistency.
Out of most Gundam series, I think Seed have the most warship battle. And also archangel has a one of the best design, since it allows Strike to stand on the ship and recharge battery at the same time.
Just don't look to close at the battles from the non HD SEED, I have started to make 3D models of the ships for 3D printing and well you can see where the art budget was spent, not on the Drakes or Nelsons.
I have feeling Archangel design actually borrowed from SCV-73 Blanc Rival instead of SCV-70 White Base It's bridge design identical to Archangel than White Base bridge to Archangel ua-cam.com/video/xOnItVnyKwc/v-deo.html
zero X I agree you on this one, not only the cannon is on top of the leg area similarly. The fin is also on the bottom of the ship instead of the top like white base.
You know I'd like to see the development history of SEED's EA ships. They do have some on-screen evolution from the beginning of SEED to the end of SEED Destiny. Not sure how much documentation on them there is though.
Practically none, sad to say. We do not even know when they were first introduced. Or even if they were from separate member state space navies. As the Earth Alliance wasn't even formed till right before the start of the First War. Before that, the Alliance was mainly known as the Sponsor Nations, as they were the ones who put the money forward to construct the PLANT Colonies.
Not really. Originally they were designed entirely for space combat. It was only when the Minovsky Flight Systems were simplified and becoming cheaper that Salamis Class ships would get such a flight system. The old naval style of the ship only helped in that particular. Though that said I wouldn't be surprised if they did had a Salamis variant that could be used on water. Since many Salamis Class ships were built on Earth after all.
the good old sally class cruiser, im supersized the federation didn't keep at least some of the 0083 refits around, sure their anti ms capability wasn't all that great but one paired with two clop class would make up for the clops lack of armament
my understanding of the Salamis class is that it was like a battleship in WW2, they were built for a conventional type of fighting that was obsolete by the time they were released, like the Battleship the Salamis class was overshined by the Mobile Suit, the One year war equivalent of Naval Aviation. were it not for the development of the Mobile suit, and the Zion's better designed Musi class, the original Salamis might have done considerably better.
I think the original Salamis used the cargo bay for storing and deploying mobile suits. They probably used the rest of the ship for storing smaller parts and food, similar to a how a u-boat does things. It wouldn't surprise me if they had to unload the suits to bring in the goods, distribute those items throughout the ship, then load the suits back into place. Being a quartermaster for a OYW Salamis has gotta be hell.
Huh, could have sworn the main cargo bay for the Salamis Class was forward right behind the bow launchers. It is under that hatch-like thing behind the forward most gun turret. I remember seeing an old cut-a-way lineart from some sourcebook that someone showed me that areas of the ships labeled and such.
excellent video. i truely like the spaceships in gundam. I would like to see some of the Flagships, their history, combat achievements, engagements and so on.
I always assumed the opening in the bottom of the Salamis was a cargo bay door and the GMs were simply carried in the cargo bay instead of an actual hangar
They should have gotten Anaheim Electronics to redo the Salamis design. Cause all I remember the Salamis is it exploding after Zakus and other mobile suits just absolutely blasting them to pieces.
I always loved how the creator of Gundam used real life history as inspiration. In ww2 you had the debate between air craft vs battle ship in terms of power in navel conflict which was rendered moot when Japan attacked British held south east asia. The japanese planes fought a brit battle ship and sunk it marking the end of naval power being only about battle ships. Just look at any modern navy today and you will not see a battle ship just missile boats and carriers for the real teeth of the fleets. Just like in the UC time line you don't see navy ships without MS being used as the ships are just sitting ducks even with the fancy new guns.
I hope you do more eps on ships. Personally I would like to see an ep explaining the Pegasus line during the OYW. I was surprised when playing G Generation Genesis how many similar ships there was compared to White Base. Blanc Rival, Grey Phantom, Thoroughbred and many others. I think Albion would count too?
I love these development history stories. I'm wondering can we have one about the history of Inovades and the complete story of Ribbons Almark and it types? This could be interesting since we know Ribbons Almark was present when Aeolia Schenberg.was around
U mean E.A Ray? Cuz i dont think aeolia ever met ribbons, according to wiki aeolia were put to sleep on year 2101, while the 1st innovade were created on year 2185. EA Ray was the base model for ribbons n other ribbons type
enjoyed this video, brother recommended you to learn alittle more about gundam ^^ very interesting. Got question for you though, if you were in charge of zeon military what mobile suits would you concentrate on? Such as ground combat, aquatic combat, and space combat. To me i always thought zaku II and gouf would been best for ground combat. For aquatic operations hard to say since a lot of them were good ms exception of zaku marine time. As for space...I say the gelgoogs. I didn't choose dom mainly cause if remember correctly they were expensive and eventually replaced by gelgoogs. Been awhile I haven't delved in gundam in long long time.
@@alluringming They have Anti-Air Machine Guns. The Origin version has four double-barrel versions up front and a couple further single barrel versions around the superstructure of the ship.
The reason that the Federation spent money on mobile suits, and not the Navy, was mentioned in several One Year stories: Zeon decimated the Earth Federation fleets, and invaded Earth in a "blitzkrieg" that was only successful, due to Zeon's mobile suit force overpowering the obsolete Federation forces. Tanks, infantry, ships, etc. were no match against mobile suits. That should answer your question about why the Earth Federation chose not to spend resources on a space fleet, in favor of mobile suits
The fact that the Federation held on at all is kind of insane. Like, automation and computers might reduce the crew size of such a large ship to well below the numbers required for comparable historical naval vessels, but you're still losing huge numbers of personnel and vast amounts of war materiel every time you lose a light cruiser. And that's not even discussing the immediate collapse of morale when word gets out that the Zeon equivalent of a fighter jet can destroy a light cruiser with one shot from any angle, while point-defense fire simply bounces harmlessly off its armor.
I really wish the nelson could be more widely adopted. So the federation could basically field mini white bases throughout the earth sphere without endangering their pegasus-class and not needing as much escorts as the columbus-class. especially after they got mega-oofed by Gato.
Here is something for your next question of the week if it interests you. Boofire191 did a video on whether or not Newtypes could survive in Evangelion's universe and the answer he reached was no. I was wondering if you could answer whether or not a mobile suit pilot could survive/thrive/win in the Evangelion universe. It just seems like something worth looking into.
This is part two that I thought up while pondering my own question, but could a mobile suit defeat an angel in Evangelion? To be clear, when I say mobile suit I mean any machine that a regular person could be trained to operate so no Newtype or Cyber Newtype machines, no Seed Mode or Trans-Am, and no superpower computer stuff like the EXAM, HADES, or ZERO systems. For an example, let's say EVA-01 was replaced with the RX-78-2 for some reason, Shinji had the knowledge of how to pilot it slapped into his head so he didn't have to waste time learning the controls, and he was deployed to fight an Angel. Could the weapons of the original Gundam produce enough firepower to breach the Angel's AT-Field and damage or destroy the Angel?
So this is something I imagine absolutely no one has thought about, but what do you think those yellow blocks on the RX-78's front and rear skirt armor are for? It's my personal belief, going off the mechanical detail behind them on the MG Gundam 2.0 model kits, that they are radiators of some kind which were either omitted or downscaled and internalized on the GM's skirt armor, but were brought back on higher performance suits like the GM Custom, Powered GM, and GM Quel.
I hope you make more Development Explanations of other Warships too like for Example the White Base Class and Her Sister Ships and Also Other EFSF and Zeon Ships...
If ever the was a 'grunt' capital ship, the Salamis was it. It's actually lowkey one of my favorite ship designs in Gundam. It's just so...realistic.

Salamis Kai (0083): Watch how it's done
*blows up*
Salamis Kai wearing sunglasses and having mobile suit bodyguards: Amateurs
Were gonna need a video on the Musai class Development History now.
The Salamis is just like the Arleigh Burke of the Gundam Universe, both are decade years old designs that remain active service for a very long time
Maybe if doing individual ships is hard to get info on, you could do videos on the navy of different Gundam Universes. What ships there were and how they were altered during the events of the series overall.
Brilliant, I am looking forward to more videos on similar topics from the UC timeline.
Dude. What an awesome video, im am so hyped for more!!!
awesome video!! waiting for the magellan class now
Excellent work on this as always kakarot 197
Ship development in gundam hmmm 🤔 Interesting hope to see more soon.
I do enjoy your channel keep up the awesome uploads. I like how you dig for info.
Because gelgoogs
@@FLMKane
That sounds like a chicken and egg dilema but we're looking at the chicken here so I don't see why you'd bother.
I'd be game for more videos talking about the warships of Gundam.
Love your development history, please make more :)
I have feeling Archangel design actually borrowed from SCV-73 Blanc Rival instead of SCV-70 White Base
It's bridge design identical to Archangel than White Base bridge to Archangel

zero X
I agree you on this one, not only the cannon is on top of the leg area similarly. The fin is also on the bottom of the ship instead of the top like white base.
I'm a fan of warships in UC Gundam. Thanks for shining some light on this lass glamorous part of the lore.
I perfer the Magellan
Thank you!
Will this video explode....we'll see
Just like the salamis cruisers in Gundam.
Holy shit, Ships!!
Man, Ships from the Gundam never get enough love..
Thanks for this.
This was cool and I would definitely love to see you do more on ships and other military vehicles.
Now i need to see the Clop-class cruisers of londo bell. #EFSF #ECOAS
10:03 Now I see why they look like seaworthy vessels. Because they are actually designed to go on water.
Would be awesome if the made a space rts like battlefleet gothic but with gundam
the good old sally class cruiser, im supersized the federation didn't keep at least some of the 0083 refits around, sure their anti ms capability wasn't all that great but one paired with two clop class would make up for the clops lack of armament
The development history of Wing Gundam Snow White prelude. Please
Ya like jazz?
my understanding of the Salamis class is that it was like a battleship in WW2, they were built for a conventional type of fighting that was obsolete by the time they were released, like the Battleship the Salamis class was overshined by the Mobile Suit, the One year war equivalent of Naval Aviation. were it not for the development of the Mobile suit, and the Zion's better designed Musi class, the original Salamis might have done considerably better.
Ah yes the salamis a battleship on space with jets quite an interesting choice for a battleship
Just like in the UC time line you don't see navy ships without MS being used as the ships are just sitting ducks even with the fancy new guns.
that seem to have been commen around that time
"cough" spacebattleship yamato
I hope you do more eps on ships. Personally I would like to see an ep explaining the Pegasus line during the OYW. I was surprised when playing G Generation Genesis how many similar ships there was compared to White Base. Blanc Rival, Grey Phantom, Thoroughbred and many others. I think Albion would count too?
I think it would be hard to explain Considering we not even see the original titular ship of the class yet... The SCV-69 Pegasus
@@trollinoakenshield9822 sorry I mistaken the person interviewing Aeolia being RIbbons
from the Trailblazer Movie
right the person interviewing is EA Ray that's why
enjoyed this video, brother recommended you to learn alittle more about gundam ^^ very interesting. Been awhile I haven't delved in gundam in long long time.
or downgraded them to heavy destroyers so they could become half-decent escort ships.
How are point defense systems on these ships? They dont seem do well against mobile suits but from what i seen they dont see have them.
@@alluringming They have Anti-Air Machine Guns. The Origin version has four double-barrel versions up front and a couple further single barrel versions around the superstructure of the ship.
zeon: MS carrier musai
Fed: 2:40 menacingly
The reason that the Federation spent money on mobile suits, and not the Navy, was mentioned in several One Year stories: Zeon decimated the Earth Federation fleets, and invaded Earth in a "blitzkrieg" that was only successful, due to Zeon's mobile suit force overpowering the obsolete Federation forces. Tanks, infantry, ships, etc. were no match against mobile suits. That should answer your question about why the Earth Federation chose not to spend resources on a space fleet, in favor of mobile suits
I just love the Clop and Salamis class.
You know one of these days I am going to see about writing my own fanfiction story about the Nelson during the 0083 Era.
Props to the designers, both in universe and the real world for picking Salamis over Thermpolae.
Be interesting to see the development history of the Gelgoog/Galbady models and the MS Flight Platforms used in both atmosphere and space.
What I love about Gundam is that they had tons and tons of money to spend on the war!!!!
That was a good history lesson 👍
I hope you make more Development Explanations of other Warships too like for Example the White Base Class and Her Sister Ships and Also Other EFSF and Zeon Ships...
8:42 why this has very fire music tho 😭
What about the evolution of the Magellan class battleship
oh nice... something i sort of suggested..
after all the ship did appear in OYW up to Victory
If your cargo bays are tall enough to fit a mobile suit it's not hard to turn that into a hangar
