Squamous cells can handle a lot of friction, which is why they are present in areas like the vagina and the outer part of the cervix (for penetration), and in the esophagus (for food working its way down the throat). So it's easy to remember that if it's an area that gets a lot of friction it will most likely be lined by squamous cells.
