We played 2 today since we could. Happy Labor Day. Game 1 was at Vanderbilt and our 1st attempt at an SEC opponent. We went to Tennessee and had an excellent match up and an instant OT Classic. Too bad the refs thought I was short (I thought I was in) and I lost 35-36. I went up 14-7 in the 2nd and then Vandy kicked a FG to make it 14-10. I should have shut it down, but I gave up a pick and boom, 14-13 on another FG. They then put up to a 13 point 3rd to go up 26-14. My offense couldn't do anything in the 3rd. Then in the 4th, the floodgates opened, I scored twice and got a deuce to lead by 3 late, but my Defense was once again my Achilles Heal. They scored a FG and tied it up. We won the toss, went on D first and they gashed us twice up the middle in the spread Offense. UGH! So we got the ball back and scored back and I went for 2. Jet Sweep Pass.... I thought I made it. Zebras said no, and I was not allowed to replay it. So we fell to 2-1.
Nick Evers went 11/17 for 129 and a crucial Pick.
Gavin Garcia was 28 for 108 and 2 TDs
Durell Robinson was 16 for 90 and 3 TDs (Maybe I should have ran him more)
Cam Edwards was 5 for 30
Skylar Bell caught 6 for 62 (The others were like 1/2 catches for not too much)
Zakhari Spears 10 Tackles, 3 TFL, 1 Pass Defended
Jordan Wright 9 Tackles 1 Pick which was crucial
    D'Mon Brinson 8 Tackles, 1 TFL, 1 Pass Defended
    Cam Chadwick had 8 Tackles
    7 Players provided 1 TFL
So now we are out of both Top 25s. We are now 1-1 on the Road this year. Overall we are down to 9-6 vs FCS squads, 2-4 against P4 teams (0-4 away), 0-1 vs SEC and in OT.
We got 45 Media Points and 30 Coaches Points, so we are still top 25 to some, but not enough. Next game is against FCS East. We try to get our 11th win overall and 3rd on the season to get to 1/2 way to a Bowl.

Thanks! This is also my anniversary so it's been a crazy busy week! So sorry for some late responses!
Dang!! That sounds like a crazy game! That one would've been quite the game to go to IRL! Really would've got your money's worth in this one.
Sad that we weren't able to pull it out at the end but I feel like it was a solid call to go for the 2 pts in that spot. Offense and defense were having some ups and downs but you started getting hot late and tried to ride that momentum into squeaking out a win without giving them the chance to outlast ya. I can get behind that decision.
Sad that we fell out of the top 25 but I know we will be back soon 💪

@@ProblyNathan Not a problem with that. I was a little more looking closer since I knew I would be away most all of the week and wanted to continue our discussion.
The Vandy (and TV) crowd got an excellent game, back and forth. I would have enjoyed the game more if I wasn't playing it, but we all know how that goes. Win or Lose... but we came up on the short end of the stick. The decision was made mainly because Vandy gashed us 2x in the first half of the OT and I just wanted to end it since I didn't see us stopping them again. I don't regret the decision and would make it 100 more times out of 100. We'll come back from this experience a better squad and this should come to make us better against FCS East (as of the time of the game).

Also, congrats to your IRL team for whooping Florida in the Swamp this weekend. Huge win.

Right?! I was surprised they won in the fashion! I was expecting a closer game with us being away 🤷‍♂️

@@ProblyNathan Yea, I was expecting a better game (as a neutral), but was happy to see your IRL team whooping up. Especially since I don't think Billy Napier is an elite HC like everyone thought he was after Louisiana-Lafayette. Huge gap between UL-L and Florida... Now 2-0 after putting Florida A&M in their place. Next game is on ACC Channel, so if you get that, it will be nice. 3:30 start.

Second game of the day was against FCS East. Jonathan (our Mascot) was angry. I'll just let the numbers speak for themselves:
Passing: Nick Evers 9/10 124 Yards 3 TDs; Tucker McDonald 3/4 for 33 Yards 1 TD; Sammy McGuinness 1/1 9 Yards
Rushing: Cam Edwards 147 Yards on 7 Attempts 1 TD (13th best RB in Nation by Yards); Shaq McBath 120 Yards on 10 Runs 1 TD; Gavin Garcia 109 Yards on 11 Rushes 1 TD (Best RB in Nation Yards & TDs); Durell Robinson 108 Yards on 13 Carries 1 TD (8th best RB in Nation by Yards); Daniel Shaban 35 Yards on 4 Touches; Brian Toler 24 Yards on 6 Carries (Mostly Plunges) 2 TD; Rashaud Crow (1st and probably only game this year) 22 Yards on 3 Carries; Nick Evers 7 Yards on 3 Tries (I think he got sacked 1x); Louis Hansen 2 Yards on 1 FB Plunge late.
Receiving: Skyler Bell (Mostly on Jet Sweeps) 154 Yards on 11 Catches 3 TD (T-28 Best WR in Nation by Yards) - Independent Offensive POTW; Alex Honig 11 Yards on 1 Catch; Dajon Harrison 1 for 1.
12 players gained yards for UConn.
Defense: Quincy Bryan 10 Tackles, 3 TFLs; Nathan Voorhis 10 Tackles, 1 TFL, .5 Sack; Jordan Wright 10 Tackles, 2 TFL; Kaleb Stewart 9 Tackles, 1 TFL; Cleto Choi 9 Tackles, 6 TFL; Julien Simon 8 Tackles, 5 TFL, 2 Sack - National Defensive POTW; Liam Fuller 6 Tackles, 2 TFL; Malcolm Bell 6 Tackles, 1 TFL; Pryce Yates 5 Tackles, 2 TFL; Zakhari Spears 3 Tackles, 1 Pick. Perry Moorehead with a Forced Fumble (I could go on forever).
The 2nd Teamers gave up some points, but we did beat them in all 4 Quarters, so hooray.
134 Media Votes, 98 Coaches Votes for 3-1 UConn which puts me just outside the Top 25. Just keep on racking up the Ws and let things sort themselves. Only 2 more wins to meet the Contract Goal, 3 to meet my personal first goal of Bowl Eligibility, and 5 to meet the other goal of getting as many Ws as last year. We're off to Las Cruces next to take on the Aggies of New Mexico State where we try to even up our all time record against Conference USA foes overall and games not in East Hartford (Liberty was a neutral site).
(Side note: I am likely going dark for a bit since I have some Real Life business to take care of this week.)

😂 I can see that from those stats! The team went off!! Rightly so against and FCS opponent but still!! The rushing attack was lethal in this one....and when the rushing attack is rolling then not much else is really needed from an offensive perspective.

    • @ProblyNathan
      @ProblyNathan  Місяць тому +1

And no worries about having to go dark for a bit! 😁

@@ProblyNathan Thanks, that was the goal. Give Gavin, Durell, and Cam 100+ yards on +/- 12 attempts each to keep up their stats, but just enough so they don't get too much wear & tear so they remain fresh for future games. So Durell needed 1 more attempt, I wasn't concerned... the yardage was much more important than the number of attempts. It was nice getting Shaq a good performance for the future as well. He and Glen Volson will compete for the 2nd/3rd HB position, both of which are very key to our Offense. We are a true HB by Committee squad. It was also good getting Daniel and Brian into it as well... they may not get the ball as much, but at least it's something. Passing was done to make sure they didn't key on the run and was more to say.... HEY! We CAN pass if we want/need to.
Defense looked great until the 2nds came in, but that's typical of 2nd teams. At least the game was out of hand by that time. I'll take it, especially in this big of a win. I'll have to play again soon, just got back last night from taking care of some important things IRL...

3:23 RB Screen... something I need to put into my games as well. I'm always overlooking that play.
7:52 I've also noticed that putting double gunner coverage avoids the Roughing the Punter which is too prevalent.
13:22 Thank you, that's the play I was thinking of for the passing. A lot of my passes are that for now.
24:33 Another play I need to look at. Train Power Option to get the ball to the outside.
Longoria looks like the perfect guy to give the Jet Sweep. He could turn that into a Kick Return of sorts. That could be amazing.
At least the sweep of Georgia occurred. Great job. Not much to say here about this game other than a big roll of a lesser opponent. FCS East should be another big W.... then off to Conference Play. I just wonder what Sam Houston's gauntlet was to begin the season. I remember last year they had an awful OOC mark too. As it looks, it's a 5 team race with KSU and Liberty being the odds on favorites, FIU, Sam Houston, and Western Kentucky as the Tier 2 with Jax State being the wildcard. Let's see how many wins we get.

    • @ProblyNathan

I love the RB screen. I feel like it generally works well for us.
Yeah....roughing the punter is a killer....
That power option is amazing!! Idk why we have had such crazy success early with it.
Longoria does look amazing to see the field early and often. He should be insane for both special teams and jet touches. I look forward to seeing how he performs in the offense next year.
I'm very pleasantly surprised that we ended up sweeping the Georgia circuit. I for sure thought we were dropping one of these games. Our team has been firing on all cylinders so far. 👌

@@ProblyNathan I tried the Screen twice recently and neither time it worked. My pass blocking is too porous. Either a sack or a QB Hurry and fail. I'll have to try some more, against some other opposition. We'll see how it goes from here, maybe I just need to play it more. Same with that RPO Bubble Screen... works for a few yards, but that's about it for me so far. Maybe more I try both, the better I get. I also forgot the Train Power Option. Again, something to look at in future games.
I am looking forward already to Longoria on your game as well. I haven't sealed anyone up yet... close on a few players, but nothing yet as to commitments. Next week I hope to get some.
The Georgia circuit worked well for you. I am surprised as well, but thrilled. Was thinking 2-1 at best... I know my record so far at 3-1 is a surprise as well all things considered. I was shocked how well I beat Syracuse up. Next year will be the test though since I plan on going back to The Dome.

    • @ProblyNathan
      @ProblyNathan  Місяць тому

Yeah that could definitely be a factor....
I find that it really helps me gain more yards when I don't hit sprint until after I get past my blockers on both those plays even though they aren't "running" plays (I'm sure you already know that though)
I agree! Dude, I'm super excited for this recruiting class! I really feel like it has the potential to be an all-time great class for us....the amount of talent starting to desire to join our team is crazy considering we performed soooooo poorly last year.
Yeah I'm honestly very pleased at how both of our teams are performing early on in the season. I hope we can continue this momentum for the rest of the season!
I'm also interested in seeing how you guys do back in NY next year... I believe the team will be even better by then.

    • @mrmoose6619
      @mrmoose6619 Місяць тому

@@ProblyNathan I think it also depends on if it's man or zone and if the corner is sealed or not as to the outside plays. Just a play by play.
I also think my recruiting class, though lesser than yours, should be a great one for UConn. Just have to get the commits to start rolling in. Your class is looking really good.
I think I can keep the momentum on my side. I hope for 5-2 heading into the next bye. Granted, Northwestern will be a good test for us, but I think we have a team that will stay in it and possibly win. I'm looking forward to next year back at Syracuse. I hope I can quiet The Dome, but that's a year away. Right now, I want to get to a good bowl and hopefully win it.

Sorry I never saw this message till now! Yeahhhh I was wondering if I would end up blwoing out a lot of teams once we figured out the offense. I am contemplating increasing the amount of games per video to avoid feeling like you did not get to see a good game. I also will be adjusting some sliders to make the games better in season 3. I want this to be a realisitc rebuild and apparently we are just blowing out everyone lol. Let me know what you think!
