You often hear people talk about how calm Rybakina is, but few talk about how mentally tough she is. Her ability to stay ice cool under pressure and not get down on herself makes her one of the mentally toughest players in the WTA.

I agree. Paula is playing very well! But she needs to stop the looks, the dropping of the shoulders, and all the negative body language. That kind of disposition bleeds your confidence in matches. When she trusts herself just a little more, regardless of the scoreboard -- or a shot that went wide -- she will experience her true potential! Feel proud Paula!

Rybakina is just genuine! She was not in her form today but finally she found the way to win. This is the thing champions show us. Padosa looks like she is in trouble how to find the finish line though her specific skills are amazing‥

Congratulations Elena, за такую игру мы тебя и любим.?!

Rybakina reminds me of Iga at this tourney last year - challenged throughout, not always playing her best tennis, but when push comes to shove, she finds ways to win. Will be interesting to see if she can complete the Sunshine Double like Iga did last year. She'll have to play better, though, against some tough competition.

@@freakyfredy6597 They adapted to her and exploited her weaknesses. Rybakina is 23 and Sabalenka 24. Iga is 21. Last year, people joked that Sabalenka wouldn't ever get past her semi-final woes, and then she won AO this year after adapting her game. Great players can do that. Iga is definitely not as strong as either player right now, but she can adapt just as they did and potentially beat them again (she beat Sabalenka 3 times last year). I think she will. We'll see.

@@postive-vibes this is exactly what she is doing now, adapting to Barbara, Sabalenka and Rybakina. Of course she has an injury but do not think she lies at home playing PS5 (or rather reading books 😉)

If you are wondering how Elena won the second set and then won the match - Elena's winning game plan for this match was to return Paula's serves to Paula's backhand side, especially her second serves.
