    Great how-to video. This install walk-through was perfect. I managed to install the fan by myself in about an hour. I have installed a few fans in the past, but this was still a major time saver. Pretty much anyone can install this fan with this video. The fan is also amazing. The nicest fan I have ever seen. I wanted to replace an older fan that did not have a remote. Saw this on sale--and it had nearly a 5-star review with more than 1000 reviews. The 8 giant blades move a lot of air, with very little AIR noise. The motor is silent. The Breeze Feature is more impressive than it sounds- Genius idea.

    My Kensgrove 72" fan has malfunctioned after about 2 years. I find this video helpful to understand how to dismount it.

      Oh no! Sorry to hear that. I JUST purchased and installed this fan too, may I ask what part of your fan malfunctioned? It is good you 2 years out of it first, hopefully you can get some more.

    Great video.
    Just had it installed per video. However, when turned on, it rotates slowly back and forth for few minutes, sometimes moves in opposite direction. I have to switch it of and back on several times before it actually starts moving in the right direction. Takes a good 5 mins to get it to start moving like it's supposed to. I have paired it appropriately but still having the same issue. Any fix for this? Is this a motor issue?

    Well made video. I have the same fan but has a wall mount remote. Do you know if the hand remote will work with my fan. My fan has been up about 1 year. It works when it wants to. Just about the time I think I have it working properly it starts acting crazy. Fan will always come on but you never get the speed you want. We always want the highest speed most of the time. Most of the time it stays on low. Very disappointing because I love this fan when it works properly. I guess it time to call customer service. Thanks

      Unfortunately, the black remote from the fan in this video is not compatible with the original Kensgrove fans that include the wall remote. Sometimes issues on your version of the Kensgrove can be corrected by completing the learning process and calibration again.To do it with the wall remote;
      1. Cut off power to the fan using the breaker or the wall switch and wait a few moments.
      2. Return power to the fan.
      3. Within 30 seconds of restoring power, press and hold the "SET" button on the wall remote until the fan starts spinning. (Set button is found next to battery under face plate).
      4. Wait until the fan finishes self calibrating (The fan will spin up to 3 minutes in one direction and up to 3 minutes in the other direction).
      You can find the step by step instructions on the "Operations" page in your owner's manual. If this does not resolve your issue, contact customer service and they will identify what is causing problems with your fan.

      I could have written your post as I have the same fan with wall remote and the fan only does what it wants to do. Sometimes it will go backwards when turned on other times forward. The only thing that works as it should is the light and the on/off button.

    Any tips or tricks balancing? I can hear the fan clicking and swaying. What should be done to balance without a fan balance kit?

    • @TALCeilingFans
      @TALCeilingFans  6 років тому

      Balancing issues can be caused by 3 possible components: Blades, Blade Holders, or Motor.
      1.) Inspect the coupling/downrod/hanger bracket and ensure they are all properly secured and all screws are tightened.
      2.) Ensure the screws for the blades and the screws connecting the blade holders to the motor are properly secured. Loose screws can cause a blade to droop lower and cause wobbling.
      3.) Visually inspect the blades and holders for damage or defects. A bent blade or blade arm with the wrong pitch can cause changes in air resistance and lead to wobbling.
      4.) Test the fan without the blades. If the wobbling appears to stop while running the fan without the arms, you may need to install a balancing kit.
      For detailed technical support, warranty parts, and balancing kits please contact customer service at 1-800-986-3460.

    My fan doesn’t have a receiver... my room has a 2 gang light switch, does that mean the red wire is another hot wire? If I were to connect the blue wife from fan to the red wire in house would that work? Would that make it so the fan and the light or turned on/off by the two different switches I have?

    • @TALCeilingFans
      @TALCeilingFans  4 роки тому

      The model in this video can only have it's light controlled with the remote. However, most fan's with a separate blue wire as you describe can be wired to control the fan and light separately from a wall switch. The wiring in your home may differ, but generally there will be a black wire from the switch for the fan's black wire and a red wire from the switch for the light's blue wire. You can use the electrical connections instructions from this video for reference: ua-cam.com/video/Izr4rHWTyqw/v-deo.html

      The latest version of the Kensgrove uses a Samsung branded 14w LED that emits 3000k warm white light. Unfortunately, the color temperature cannot be changed. If you suspect that your light isn't emitting the correct color temperature, contact customer service for assistance 1-800-986-3460.

    Where can I order a new remote? I tried calling the phone number on the manual it just takes me to Home Depot and they say they can't help me. I have been unable to find it online or anywhere else.

      Home Depot normally places orders from us for parts like remotes. If you are having trouble getting an order placed through them, you can try calling our customer service directly: 1-877-902-5588. Hope that helps!

    • @TALCeilingFans

      The original Kensgrove fans (brushed nickel and oil rubbed bronze finishes) use a common white remote. Unfortunately, the black remote in this video is new for this year and currently only the Kensgrove in the new Espresso Bronze finish (Model# YG493OD-EB) is compatible.

    is there anyway to replace the light kit with something with a warmer look, i hate the white florescent light color

    • @TALCeilingFans
      @TALCeilingFans  6 років тому +1

      Unfortunately, the LED lamp is integrated into the Light Kit and cannot be changed to a different LED. Home Depot will sell an updated version of the Kensgrove at some point this year with a Samsung LED lamp installed instead. However, it is unclear if this LED will be a warmer color temperature.

    Hows the lighting? Is it bright?

    • @TALCeilingFans
      @TALCeilingFans  6 років тому

      All Kensgrove models currently being sold at Home Depot use a Samsung Branded 14w LED rated for about 1200 Lumens. That is sufficient for a 120 sqft. room, or about the size of your average living room. Essentially, the lighting is a bit brighter than your average CFL/Incandescent bulbs found on most traditional ceiling fans.

    We have a 3rd wire thats red in our ceiling. The fan only has 2 wires, white and black. What connects to the 3rd wire?

    • @TALCeilingFans
      @TALCeilingFans  6 років тому +1

      The 3rd red wire isn’t required for the installation and can be capped off with a wire nut as shown at the 1:32 - 1:45 timestamp.
      In most homes, the red wire is simply an alternate hot wire that is controlled with the on/off switch on the wall, while the black wire in the box is a hot wire that is always powered. You can connect the fan to the red wire instead of the black wire, giving you the option to cut power to the fan from the on/off switch.

      TAL International Rick We have installed the fan. We have the same issue..3 wires from the ceiling (bare, white, and black). We have installed the fan according to the video and the remote is not syncing.

    • @TALCeilingFans
      @TALCeilingFans  6 років тому

      If your remote is not synchronizing, you should first check the following;
      1. Remote has battery power: Ensure 2 new AAA batteries are installed correctly in the remote.
      2. Remote is functioning correctly: Ensure the Green LED Bar on the remote is flashing when the power button is held.
      3. The fan has power: Ensure power has been restored at the breaker and any on/off wall switches in the room that may be connected to the fan's outlet box should be in the “on” position.
      If the above list doesn’t resolve your issue, you should contact customer service for more detailed solutions. Call the number in your owner’s manual, or email service@tal-usa.com.

    Is there a built in wall remote that is compatible with this fan. The individual remote is nice, but built in is always in the same place and a cleaner look. Looking for something like this that will be compatible: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004MXQ2IU/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

    My fan will not sync!!

    • @TALCeilingFans
      @TALCeilingFans  7 років тому +2

      Before contacting customer service, check the following:
      1: Remote has 2 AAA batteries and lights up when the power button is held.
      2: Power is turned on at the breaker and any switches in the room are in the on position
      3: After power is turned on you immediately press and hold only the power button on the remote (do not press other buttons or wait longer that 30 seconds).
      The light will flash twice to confirm that the fan is synced.
      If your fan still will not sync, call 1-877-902-5588 or email service@tal-usa.com. They will troubleshoot with you to determine the cause.
