to the person who asked where to get books when your library doesn't have them: there are a lot of great online secondhand bookshops now, i use abebooks, thriftbooks and betterworldbooks! you can find great stuff on there for super cheap, even new-ish releases!

Agreed! I would also check out Half Price Books (they have physical stores and an online shop) and Book Outlet (for U.S. customers as I heard shipping is expensive for international orders) for some drastically marked down books. Or even Goodwill sometimes has a selection of popular and classic books.

Paperback swap is also a free book swap where you basically exchange with other people! You can put up books you want to get rid of and seek out books that others post.
Note: This is totally online and via mail so it can sometimes be easier to find stuff depending on what you're looking for.

@@Aggrobea its not really about that, im not really bothered for harry potter not having gay characters and all that bc Rowlings publishers probably wouldnt allow her that back then. But the thing is J.K. Rowling is now claiming that a whole bunch of characters were actually gay or people of colour all along so that way she gets to be called super progressive and gets all this praise when she didnt actually include any clues about these characters being this way so kids couldnt look up to these characters as like omg look at this great person being just like me. Get it, she gets the queer and diverse audience backing her up without actually losing conservative audiance. Its a money making technike and shes not the only one that does that.

There have been more of them lately but just imagine growing up and never being able to picture yourself as the hero bc they are decribed as a super pale blonde person. Not that there is anything wrong with being that, its just that pretty much every main character is very pale, probably has straight blonde or brown hair and is straight.

I mostly subscribed to this channel because it was nice to see someone fangirl over a book series I'm obsessed with which is Six of Crows, instead of the typical Cassandra Clare and Sarah J. Maas. And I haven't been disappointed since subscribing. I love your humor and the fact that you promote going to the library, you and MynameisMarines are like the two main booktubers who highlight the greatness that is the library and ease the pressure to buy books. Cause even though I do collect books, it more because I'm a big re-reader. But I usually borrow from the library first and then buy it if I love the book.

OMG! I love horror soo much (particularly Stephen King)
Here are some character-driven horror books
If you want a kind of dystopian psychological horror book go for "The Long Walk" The plot is basically 100 boys walk until there 's only one left. It might sound cliché but keep in mind it was written before 1974.
Another psychological horror that is oh so good is Misery. A writer gets kidnapped and is saved by his number one fan (who is also a little cray-cray), there are only two characters in this book and they evolve so realistically.
In both those books, there is no supernatural.
Two delicious paranormal stories are Carrie (classic), and firestarter.
If you (for some reason) want an *Extremely*, and I do mean extremely gore book I would recommend Desperation. It has killer spiders, coyotes, buzzards, snakes, crazy killer cops, possesions, demons, cult sex and a whole bunch of murdery murders (like a lot).

Cindy, a really good book that's character driven and contains some horror elements is The Diviners. It's set in the 1920s in New York during prohibition and focuses on a diverse cast of different characters with supernatural gifts, and features some pretty hair-prickling paranormal horror.

I stopped buying books I haven’t read unless I can’t get it from the library because it’s so infuriating to spend money on a book if I end up not liking it; plus we don’t have the space. We’re lucky to have an amazing library system too.

I know the Harry Potter scenario is not the best case of good representation, and that you were being lighthearted in that remark, but ohhhh boy, maybe you've not read the Throne of Glass series by SJM, she fucking brutalises, makes a black woman go through a CRAPTON of sexual violence and be murdered to further the white chosen one protagonist's storyline and give her something to wangst about, in Acotar, the two POC slaves wear slave collars and one POC high lord is of course exoticised and a predatory bisexual stereotype. The rich alluring land of spices is actually called Bharat, which is the name of my country. POC don't exist, but their clothing and customs are appropriated by the white folk. And honestly??? as a brown woman, I'd take the tacky representation in Harry Potter, re: someone calling the two Indian girls the "best looking" in their year, over what sjm serves us anyday.
This comment comes off as being pissy af and believe me I am not, the HP series is a mess in its own way, but I just have a special bond of hatred in my heart for SJM.
