Hey Ameriie just wanted to say yesterday I went to the hair salon to get my hair done nicely for the holiday. And the stylists were playing your "All I have" Album and that made me get my life in the process Lol. It was the best experience EVER. My question to you is do you ever sit and do your makeup while listening to that album truly the G.O.A.T!!!! Love you had to come support you and say Happy Holidays 😘!!!
I’ve never read Crime and Punishment, I’ve always meant to. Flowers for Algernon, what an incredible book. Took me by surprise and made me cry too... and I was 27 ha. Americanah is the one Ngozi Adichie I haven’t managed. I tried to read it and it just didn’t work BUT I had just read Ghana Must Go and they have quite similar themes so I must head back. Half of a Yellow Sun is one of my favourite books of all time. I need more books in my life that make me want to shimmy. Lol.
Love that your TBR also include classics and books you have read in High School! It reminds me of 2018's "Book Riot's Read Harder Challenge". One of the 24 bookish challenges is read an assigned book you either hated or didn't finish.
Hi Ameriie , I ran cross your Channel today. You are my favorite artist. I love your music. It still sounds great until this day.I hope that you return to recording someday. You are truly missed.♡♡ New subscriber
Ahhh yes, I recently reread flowers for algernon! I remembered seeing it all the time in the library when I was in middle school. I’m 22 now & yes, I cried. Such an amazing book.
Great TBrR list! Both VICIOUS and AMERICANAH would be fun to revisit. And NOS4A2… I've been wanting to read that. I'm thinking about re-reading Baldwin's "IF BEALE STREET COULD TALK" since it's being made into a film, and I also want to re-visit THE GOOD EARTH by Pearl S. Buck. Sidenote: That shade of blue- is it a cerulean?- looks amazing on you! Have a Happy Holiday!
Great video! Still waiting on your Korean skincare routine. Also, have you considered doing a video on movies that you wish were books? I have a laundry list 😁📚
Ameriie, I am your biggest fan! I have been following your craft since 2001. I had no idea you had a channel, Thank you so much for connecting with your fans. I am about to binge on all your videos. oh and congratulations on your new bundle of joy.
I fell in love with so many books by pulling them apart either in high school or uni. If it's taught right, it's so satisfying ^_^. I haven't read The House of Spirits but I've read other books by Allende and loved them so have been meaning to read it at some point. AND I still haven't read Americanah but I need to, the shabby chic thing... Love this video.
Hi,Ameriie I just ran across your Channel today. You are my favorite artist. I love your music. It still sounds amazing after all these years. Thanks i hope you return to the studios and provide us with more music. You are truly missed.♡♡♡♡
If you haven't read The Alchemist by Paulo Cuelho... Will Smith recommended it and it's still a top read... Also just watched your Talkin to Me video need that outfit😆😆 Happy Reading
I'm the same way with the Harry Potter series. I keep rereading the first couple books and stopping. I recently realized that I just need to jump into the ones that I haven't read so many time so I can be refreshed on all the later details! Also, I'm putting on a Read-A-Thon in March this year focusing on rereading, I'd love to have you join us! It's meant to be a way to help people set aside the time to reread!
Congratulations Ameriie on your pregnancy! I was so happy to hear your good news. I pray your pregnancy and delivery go smoothly insha Allah (God-willing)! 축하해요! Love 😊😊
I read The Picture of Dorian Gray at some point earlier this year, but I've forgotten most of what I read, so I think I'm going to make that a goal for 2018, too. There were a lot that I'm sure I missed the one and only time I read it, as well as just being genuinely confused by one chapter, that I think I can benefit from a second (and third and fourth, etc.) run-through.
Also, YES, to Harry Potter! Girl, I've been trying to reread this series since May of this year. Made it through the first two, and then got stuck on Book 3 (still am). Hoping to finally finish reading at least Prisoner of Azkaban near the beginning of 2018...
Love the video - lots of good books! :) I read Flowers for Algernon for the first time this year and I loved it so much! It was heart breaking. I also did a reread of The Picture of Dorian Gray this year. It's one of my all time faves! I"m reading NOS4A2 right now!
Hi Amerie, I saw on one of your previous videos that NOS4A2 is one of your favorite novels. Me too! Not sure if you saw but there is a t.v series adaptation of the novel. I hope it's as great as the book!
I have Americanah on my list to reread eventually next year too. I want to get The Thing Around Your Neck, Purple Hibiscus and Half of a Yellow Sun first. But I just can't get over it. I read it at the beginning of 2017 and its literally stuck with me all year! The audio version of it is excellent as well.
Also, I read Harry Potter for the first time in my 30 years this year! I was robbed of my childhood, I know! I feel the same about starting at book 4. I read Half- Blood Prince so quickly, it was a blur! LOL. Definitely on my list to reread next year as well starting at the Order of the Phoenix.
Vicious was definitely one of the best books I have ever read, a book about anti-heroes and the making of villains. Over time I have gone back to it and just like myself sink into this once again. Then I heard that there was a sequel coming in 2018 and I was over the moon.
I really want to reread Crime and Punishment too! I don't remember a lot of the details either, but one thing I do recall is a scene on the street where a mother forces her children to dance for change from strangers. And it gave such a strong sense of the desperation of someone stricken with poverty. It'd be fun to buddy read with you if you want! Haha, you totally need a copy of The Picture of Dorian Gray with a better cover - get the black and white Penguin clothbound edition with peacock feathers. It's gorgeous! Americanah is so amazing! I want to reread that too. I also need to read her books on feminism. I totally know what you mean about being wrapped up in reading Station Eleven. If you want another good post-apocalyptic literary/poetic read I'd recommend The End We Start From by Megan Hunter. It's a debut novel, really short about London being catastrophically flooded but it gets so much about the meaning of family. I loved it and want to reread that too.
I want to re-read The Nix, Tell the wolves I'm home, and Little Fires Everywhere. I'm in love with your channel! Hope you post a faves books of the year video. You should also post some snippets of the new music your working on 😍
DONNIE BRASCO UNFINISHED BUSINESS..Every memory every embrace everytime my time my eyes hit the page! lml you get it! Nothing like loving you! smh, you are just wonderful
Books Beauty Ameriie oh and when you reread house of spirits I think Eva Luna also by Isabella Allende should be on your next read....have you read the poisonwood Bible by Barbara kingslover? And funny thing about the house of spirits, the movie that was made was not only white washed but was so awful. Oh jeepers, it cause a huge commotion and I thought it was portrait of Dorian Gray as well, I think it's one of those mandala effect things, cause I know many who thought the same.
I got my list and I am checking the sites to see where I can find the best buys!!! Hahaha!! I think Ameriie we need to buddy read. You can pick the book. Thank you! Happy Holidays and BeBlessed!!
I really need to read something by Oscar Wilde because his quotes are some of my faves, as well as Americanah!! You know, we're organizing a re-read-a-thon over at Merphy Napier's channel sometime soon at the beginning of 2018. You may be interested because many of us are eager to re-read old faves and books! Join us!
Wow Amerie you're such a beautiful strong independent female artist who really love to read books 📚 so much got special skills and everything so congratulations on your first new born baby 🚼 I'm so happy for you and maybe you should read a children book to River ....... Being a great mother starts with presence not presents so continue doing your thing and keep up the excellent work gorgeous 😍😍😍😍😍
Beautiful as ever and thank you for the recommendations. My list: Why I'm No Longer Talking To White People About Race. - Reni Eddo-Lodge Swing Time - Zadie Smith The Underground Railroad - Colson Whitehead No Place To Call Home - JJ Bola Origin - Dan Brown
Why I'm no longer talking to white people about race is a fantastic book! I really appreciated it, especially as a Black Brit, I hope you enjoy it too. 😊
On a level, yes, but I vaguely remember there being more to that-other themes-when we had to dissect it. Just want to dive back in and see all the layers.
Ameriie Thank you for replying to my comment. I hope you enjoy it reading it. Russian Novels are amazing for their complex depiction of the human mind. I'm actually just starting on it as well and the psychology is impressive. You are also correct with the use of symbolisms and layers too. Would love to see you review and read more classic lit in the near future if possible.
Good thing I work graveyard shift because I have a new video to keep me occupied!! I think I want to start re-reading Harry Potter as well, but I get overwhelmed thinking about it. Plus, I feel like I'm missing out on other great reads. We'll see. BTW, you slayed that red dress from the last video on the gram 😍😍 Just like I knew my girl would 😎😙🤗
No baby girl what you just did was dropped your music career and I just found out that you a youtuber. Why Amerie, you make good music so why did you stop????? Why!!!!
+Amari Harden Lol you're such a newbie. There are things behind the music industry you would not understand. Yeah you're right, her music was really good. Maybe too good?!? And she's drop dead gorgeous. You really think the industry will let someone have the total package?!?! Think about it. 👀👀

I'm OBSESSED with V.E. Schwab! I plan on getting the new printing of Vicious since the new cover is pretty much my aesthetic
Was trying to find out what you were doing these days because I was so obsessed (still am) over your music. You had the vibes and the voice! ❤

N0S4A2 was probably the first book I got from my library solely because I thought the cover was cool and I ended up loving it.
Hi Amerie, I saw on one of your previous videos that NOS4A2 is one of your favorite novels. Me too! Not sure if you saw but there is a t.v series adaptation of the novel. I hope it's as great as the book!

Isn't the Main theme for Crime and Punishment basically what the book title says: Crime and it's eventual Punishment?
On a level, yes, but I vaguely remember there being more to that-other themes-when we had to dissect it. Just want to dive back in and see all the layers.
