Fr that sucks they abandoned him, and if they became friends Barnaby could’ve used his puppets and could have made some sick music videos with them. Especially the glow in the dark ones!
I think too many people are afraid of failure, but still cling on to ideas that are terrible since they never have the courage to try them out. I know many people that has talked about their wonderful business idea for several years, but never done anything with it. You went the extra mile, and maybe it did not work out the way you intended. You learned a lot from this, which never would have happened if it just stayed as an idea.
“I rewarded him with breakfast cereals after” that makes me so happy. Okay but just because it didnt go anywhere doesn’t mean it didn’t end up looking amazing and growing your skills.
that music video was insanely good. chop up all the "phases" of it into loops, have them loop on quirkily arranged CRTs in a gallery, and you have a magnificent installation.
I really enjoyed the sensation you were able to create by combining the musical and visual elements of playing with our senses of 'up' and 'down.' It's unlike anything I've seen before, so bravo! Glad to see you found a new life for an old project. Cheers!
You could stub your entire leg off - that box got some amazing footage. Barnaby Dixon doesn't think outside the box - he shakes the box instead. Love it!
As a middle aged dude with an engineering background, it is so good seeing Arts making STEM into STEAM. In an age of inclusivity, it is so good to see these subjects no longer segregated.
We need mistakes in order to learn. I'm doing some mindset courses at the mo, and the most powerful thing I've really learned is to make failure fun, and embrace it, before moving on :D
It really shows Barnaby's talent that my brain just accepted that this mouse can walk on walls first time i sawit and then a few seconds later I was like "wait a minute"
If I ever do anything 1% as creative as that, it'll probably be the best I ever do, and I'd probably go on about it all the time. Barnaby? "Nah; this was a failed attempt." You have so much creativity and tallent to realise your ideas that it is humbling. And so much humility about it that it humbled that humility. Hummhummhummbled. (There could be a song in that. 🤔)
Who needs the thumbnail to figure that out! Just getting a notification that Barnaby has uploaded something is all I need to know it will be something special 👍😊
That was incredible. Now just to lock that camera to the background completely and/or stabilize video. Plus block lighting from outside the box and just have small LED's inside. that will really sell the illusion.
“This project was a failure” Proceeds to control a puppet without fingers or strings. Have you considered something remote controlled or is that cheating?
I've been working non-stop on a stop-motion thesis film for the past several weeks, it's been really wearing me down but seeing your old work has motivated me again! Thank you for always sharing your creations, both successful and more experimental. :)
I hope you're not stressing yourself out too much. I just noticed the bags under your eyes. Please make sure you're resting up well, there's no need to push yourself to that degree
I just love these "random" videos you put out! They are always a good mix of interesting, and entertaining. I'm starting to think you could read the back of a cereal box, and still make it entertaining. 😄 Also you can never go wrong with Dabchick, and Matilda. 😊
This is very reminiscent of my all time favorite video from the channel, Turf, (2012), the reason why I got into barnabydixon; watched for the puppets, stayed for the creativity.
This is a message I needed today. Working on experimental animation projects and going slightly mental. I wouldn't call that a failure Barnaby, the footage is brilliant.
This was so sick man, don't let the band thing stop you from reaching out to other creatives, there are tonnes of cool collabs you could do that would benefit both parties. Keep it up bro!
dude, I love the stuff you do on your channel it's very mesmerizing and fun to watch and the zany wacky things you create, most of all over the past 2 years you've inspired me to get back into stop motion
this reminded me of that old stop motion short film with the metal puppets and the bones...if you had a thing for youtube short films you know what im talking about
That was truly stunning. I have never thought or seen a filming style like that! Its so cool. Watching your content always brings me back to the day where i'd puppeteer stuffies and hand puppets for my siblings and young family. It was fun and i loved seeing them smile and laugh over it. It was by no means professional or even anything grand, but just the subtle concept of the interaction made it great for them! XD
I love the inclusion of stop motion as well. The snail western was a cool experiment in the same direction that didn't really work imo but this was f'n brilliant!
I gotta say this is a pretty cool idea, letting gravity just do its own thing inside a enclosed space with the objects you put in. Probably get better results if it's mounted on a gimbal of some kind, keeping the setup stationary while allowing the object to be spun around on any of it's axis.
Cut to the band - sitting morosely round a single candle, heads in hands - muttering "I can't believe we passed on Barnaby fucking Dixon, have you _seen_ what he's up to?"
are you kidding me Barnaby? That was fantastic!! That little music video you put together could have easily been a Keane video for all I knew, great work
jelly frog dances rent free in my empty skull that's a fact.
He better start paying rent or hes out

Yeah, I wouldn't call that a failure. That was awesome! Every time I think I'm done being amazed by you, you go and do something like this.
Thanks my dude! :D

same lol

When he was born, Morgan Freeman narrated dabchick's birth!

Ah, ah, ahhh. Not supposed to look.
If this had been appropriately explained to me when I was younger, I might've stuck with more with my physics studies lol

Well. Whoever 'that band' is... Their loss.
Imagine if that band had stuck with you: They could be bragging that they have the exclusive honor of having something made by you!
Is it just me or is Barnaby sounding increasingly like Dabchick these days 🤔
They're merging!
It was always Dabchick

What a lad, feeding a stray mouse for being a lab *mouse*
If that bit with the robot thingy had scary music you'd have some good horror movie starter kit.
I think you might be onto something with "gelatin puppets". The way the gelatin frog moved was surprisingly natural
Damn, I was not expecting those amazing creepy stop-motion creatures in addition to the camera trickery. This is hot.
