this was one of my favorite tracks off that Christmas compilation. her vocals, the harmonizing. i didn't know what it was as a kid, but it was mesmerizing.
This song was written in the 1500s and shows a part of Christmas that the people of the modern era apparently want to forget: that the birth of Christ caused King Herod to order the slaying of a lot of babies. I can see why it's not played in the malls to get people to buy more stuff.
It's a very haunting melody, and this version really brings out the pain. It's supposed to be from the point of the view of the mothers whose children were either already slain or are about to be slain. It really is a contrasting mood compared to the more upbeat songs like "Hark the Herald Angels Sing" or "Deck the Halls".

One of the most incredible renditions of this song.

Nice song. Weird video.
This collection of short videos, although nice, is inappropriate for this carol.
