  • Property access continues to be a challenge but I'm slowly chipping away at replacing and adding culverts to reduce the mud holes. Today's efforts spanned nearly 5 hours but great progress was made. I was able to put the John Deere 2032R with the 270B backhoe to work to trench in this big culvert. One major goal is to be able to get the mill to the back of the property without issue.

    "Small projects" always seem to get a bit bigger! Nice Job!! I laughed seeing the dirt packed previous pipe..... I've got lots of that!

      Nothing is ever easy. Haha. I have no idea where the other end of that pipe is but I suspect it’s packed full of mud too.

    Howdy Josh! Sounds like a plan to me. I have seen some folks put larger stone/rock at the uphill entrance to keep debris and most of the dirt/sand from getting in the pipe. make a tic-tac-toe grid pattern out of some rebar to keep the rocks from getting pushed into the pipe. Then again that would require buying or hunting for rocks... so maybe that isn't the best idea lol. Talk to Brock... he has lots of good sized rocks he'd probably give you for free! 😁Then again if you need the water flow fast for heavy rains that might not be a very good option. Forget everything I just said. Onward to part 2. Thanks for sharing 🤠

      Hahaha. So much good advice in here. Lol. I think I’m gonna use some fencing and a few stakes to grab the big stuff. Have also thought of digging a bit of a catch basin to slow the water down in front. Not sure what the best option is. I suppose I’ll find out soon enough. Before we put that 36” culvert in, a bit further up, I had a 24” wash out… Nature will certainly tell me if I got it right or not. Haha

    Thats some good thinking to get that together!!!

      I was thinking I was dead in the water. Definitely no easy one man approach. Not sure if two people could have managed to shove it together or not but I was thrilled when that gasket passed the first rib!!! Whew! 😅

    I'm not familiar with the term track hoe. Is that the same as a mini excavator?🤔

    How are you going to keep the pipe clear?

    • @HardyBrothersOutdoors
      @HardyBrothersOutdoors  8 місяців тому

      I think I’m going to run some fencing between two t-posts. Probably 2-3 feet in front of the pipe I wasn’t sure of my plan as I don’t know the water volume yet but I think that should work.

    its never fun keeping a drain pipe clean!

      I'm hoping this one will change the game for me. Will need to do some upstream work to keep that from just pumping trash and dirt into the pipe. Thanks for watching an commenting Adam!

      @@HardyBrothersOutdoors might wanna try some screen over the inlet that seems to help with large objects!

    • @HardyBrothersOutdoors
      @HardyBrothersOutdoors  8 місяців тому

      That's a great suggestion, I have some fencing that will be perfect that. I really need to see it when it's pouring to see what sort of volume I get. all in due time. :-)
