- Ike & Tina Turner were an American musical duo active during the 1960s and 1970s, consisting of the husband-and-wife team Ike Turner and Tina Turner. Rolling Stone ranked them No. 2 on their list of the 20 Greatest Duos of All Time.
Beginning in 1960, they performed live as the Ike & Tina Turner Revue, supported by Ike Turner's band the Kings of Rhythm and backing vocalists called the Ikettes. The Ike & Tina Turner Revue was regarded as "one of the most potent live acts on the R&B circuit". Their live performances were a musical spectacle in the style of James Brown and the Famous Flames.
The duo's early recordings, which include "A Fool In Love", "It's Gonna Work Out Fine", and "I Idolize You", became high points in the development of soul music. Their later works are noted for interpretive re-arrangements of rock songs such as "Come Together", "Honky Tonk Woman", and "Proud Mary", the latter of which won them a Grammy Award in 1972. The Turners' professional and personal relationship ended in 1976, and their divorce was finalized in 1978.
Ike & Tina Turner were inducted to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1991. They have two singles inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame, "River Deep - Mountain High" and "Proud Mary".

I am!!🙌🏾🫂
Én ! Örök kedvenc marad Tina ! ❤
Me, always and forever love Tina ❤
Rest in peace Tina Turner. Strong, smart, independent, and damn sexy. What an incredible human being. Setting a great example of getting away from an abusive relationship and having the courage to go out on her own.
We have lost an icon and Heaven has gained an Angel.
👏👏🖤

This comment made me shed a tear, for real.
My favorite Tina ❤
As a huge Jimmy Barnes fan from his home city, Glasgow, I feel like I owe her an apology on his behalf for letting her down...the World missed an amazing duet through his alcoholism... RIP Goddess of music!
He didn’t want her recording this song because he KNEW she was a force to be reckoned with ❤️ RIP Mrs.Tina your talents will NEVER be forgotten
First song of hers I ever heard. What a voice. What an amazing brave lady. R.I.P Tina ❤
This is the first song that I also remember by Tina Turner. RIP Tina Turner. You were "Simply the Best
Ditto,on the radio in about 1973/74. Couldn't agree more with the two comments above.
Me 2...1st song....the rest is legendary history. RIP Tina and Ty for all the good vibes baby 😢😢😢😢😢
Dito, I was thirteen , german, and this music was so different from german music, I loved it from the first second I heard it, she was an iconic, beautiful person, outside and inside🙏🏻🖤😢
That voice, that energy, such stage presence. Tina Turner truly a phenomenon of human talent and incredible ability.
She put 💯% into every performance!
Would you describe your bush as being that of a nut?
ain't shi without BIG MAN THANG AKA Ike the MF Turner
She was scared of Ike, the loser.
She had to otherwise she'd get her ass beat by Ike
@@freedom281 Yes, and his presence here adds diddly-squat! No vocals, no guitar solo. He wouldn't leave her alone. She's well away from him now!
Thats was music . Not the shit today
This song is 50 years old and still hits the world . R.I.P.
…. she still hits me
Her energy in stage is unmatched to this day! She didn’t need 10 back up dancers she could hold it all on her on 🙌🏾she’s the real queen of performing 🙌🏾🙌🏾
🙄
@@LortsJailsusWhy the face? What do you disagree with about the comment?
Tina most of the time had back up dancers. It’s okay to have dancers
@@Imxel21 Yeah the Ikets used to be famous
Are y'all watching this? nothing needs to be said here, Tina simply was the center of attention and the straw that stirred the milk and Ike knew it.. Tina's voice and those dance moves are electrifying, mesmerizing and spell-binding, I cannot get enough of watching this video.. what a gift and treasure God gave us in Tina Turner, RIP Tina... Well Done!
Right Ike knew it the didn’t even want to work with him they all wanted to record with Tina. Who could not love a woman as amazing as this 😢

One if my favorites as well. I love Bob Seger's version, too. She was definitely QUEEN OF ROCK N ROLL !! ✨💜💜💜✨🎶✨🎶✨🎶😇✨💔💧✨

They had great musical chemistry…a shame he was cruel to her
They made some GREAT music and this song is AMAZING
She's acting out the pure swing of the entire song so perfectly, This is fkn Aweseome!
I love her dancing at the start and throughout 😍😍 so captivating!!
What an absolute banger!
I know I'm an old fart, but I grew up with this music and there is absolutely nothing that can compare these days...dare you to prove me wrong
Espressive and talented singer rip
@@andrewbrown7789I won't. I agree with you wholeheartedly.
The sound Ike gets out of that acoustic guitar is amazing.
It’s miming . But she is singing live
I think he's actually playing it, just percussively and not melodically. All those strumming sounds at the beginning aren't on the track.
Say what you must about Ike's personal life, and a lot of it may be true, but he was an amazing musician... Played the first Rock & Roll song. 🎶Delta 88🎶
@@chopper9170 Rocket 88
His guitar was not acoustic, but only in appearance...
Thanks dad for exposing me to this music. In the backseat of the car in early 80's you pick this up as a kid.
Rest in peace Tina we will still dance to the nut bush in Australia 🇦🇺 Never let it die
Probably the very first dance I did, when I was in grade 3..... ever lasting memory.
Guaranteed to be played at an Aussie barby! 👍 🇦🇺
The whole country is a nut bush . Glad I left many years ago
Wow Tina's on fire. She actually wrote this song. Beautiful 😍
Her foremer husband played(here)very bad in playback...she insted sung well indeed and she had huge sense of rythm when she sang and she could dance too even if she wasn't a professional dancer
Every artist should be in awe of this woman's performance, strength and power. Just incredible. RIP Tina 🙏❤️
Her dancing is absolutely inimitable, hypnotic.
Such a psychedelic style
Raw animal beautiful
This kind of energy NEVER dies. She’s officially transitioned into her eternal form. God bless you Tina! I discovered your magic in 2001 when I was 18 years old “River Deep Mountain High” was my light bulb moment ❤️❤️❤️
Time flies don't it
Simply the best..
Rest in Peace Tina
🙏🕊❤
*her raw voice was just something to behold*
Original, strong, and talent beyond measure.

This was the song. Tina always love rock and Ike wanted always wanted soungs like proud Mary. This was the song where she was finally able to do her rock thing. Seeing how happy it made her 1:08 that pure joy of feeling free for even a minute is priceless. Her tormentor is still beside her but she has this minor victory and She’s loving every second of this song!!!
true, but Ike let her ger writing credits
Rest in peace, Tina. You were an icon and your music will live on.
Heard today Tina passed away Wednesday, 2023 tears rolled from my eyes of the news. You will be so missed. Fly high to the other side Tina, Anna Mae ❤ Thank you for the wonderful music we will always have, and memories that go with them. We love you Tina.
She was electric ⚡️!!!! That third bass drop was 🔥🔥🔥🔥
I just found out about her death and I'm so sad. She is my role model, for me she was the strongest woman in the world. Rest in peace dear Tina, thank you for your beautiful and wonderful music.😢🖤
This song is PURE ENERGY!
Tina Turner rockt im Himmel 💗
50 years ago this year. She was 33 when this video was made. RIP Tina and you'll always be simply the best. ❤️❤️❤️😭😭😭
Rest in peace Tina Turner. One of the best to ever do it. A True Legend!!
You go, girl, and she did ! Remember that song when it first hit me in 1973!
this was my "initiation" with the german TV show "Disco 74 from Ilja Richter" or so... I never had seen something like this before... was sitting in total awe watching this powerhouse of a black woman with the sound of black music... - changed my life....
A true legend has passed. Her beautiful voice will always live on.
She doesn’t stop moving lol. I love this woman.
A song with pure energy, and it makes Australians do a line dance 😉
Us Aussies claim Tina!!! It ain’t a Aussie party with our nut bush!!!
I'm not from Australia (I'm from Ohio, USA), but I have done the Nutbush line dance.
I love how Tina sings "thats all you get in jail" and sings it directly to Ike
🤣 I said, the same thing! I wonder if he gave her hell for that, later? 🤬
@@TheMartinDuggan I know right lol how she empathized jail n looks right at Ike lol love her

She always looked beautiful, Ike always looked crazy!.Rest in heaven beautiful soul 👑❣️👑😢🙏
Well to me it was Tina who looked crazy, in a delightfully sexy way, and Ike who looked somewhat demented - in a crazy way!
She was music ! Four years old when this one came out and daddy played it all the time, never get enough of it until today and probably until my own death. Thanks Tina, wherever you can be now, be peaceful.
Tina was on FIRE!! Pure energy!!
One of the greats! Thanks Tina for getting so many parties started and rocking with this rock anthem.🧡❤️RIP beautiful lady. X
Great freaken song if u can’t get up n dance she’s num 1 of all time
Tina Turner aka Anna Mae Bulluck was not "one of the greats". She was the greats. The Queen of rock and roll.
Her voice and aura were so unique, I can't think of anyone in music history like her. Thank you Tina, we lost you yesterday but we'll always have your music.
Her Energy, Her Voice, Her Dance Moves and Over All Talent Was Impeccable, Ike Also R.I.P 2 them Both!!!
Damnnn, Ms. Turner sounds as mesmerising as she did during these recordings. Now that is a person worthy of many awards.
Tina was the one of the most riveting live performers in rock history. She earned every inch of her legend.
That voice, those moves, that stage presence. How could any performance top this?
So powerful, so energetic, so heavenly fueled.
This is the song Brian Johnson first sang when he auditioned for ACDC .... I can see why he chose the song .... It has an ACDC feel to it
*it's a shame Tina didn't write more songs. this was a banger! even today*
Tina wrote "Black Coffee" covered by Humble Pie and Beth Hart.
The Queen of Rock and Roll…Royalty… your work is done go soar with the Angels where you belong
Just watched movie about her (made in ‘93!). She was as transfixing as Elvis as a performer. Totally immersed in music and commanded your attention on the stage.
And this is live !!! Now that’s talent 🎉
Rest In Peace 🙏🏽 Ike & Tina Turner
Tina represented in so many ways🙌💞Grew up listening to hear, love her!! Queen Tina👑❤
One of the Blueprints❤ rest in peace to a legendary icon

RIP Tina Turner. Your music was truly magical, and this song an absolute classic. Your gift was your your music, which will live on forever.
I heard that song for the first time half a century ago. I was a kid and I started dancing. Tonight I selected that music one more time to discover she is no longer with us. RIP Tina, people will keep on playing your songs for ages to come, long after I will have gone too.
My God, she is extraordinary!
Probably the greatest female performer of all time. Badass raspy voice and so much charisma and energy! Queen!

R.I.P Tina, you brought joy to generations of millions ❤
Tina was like a female version of Otis Redding. Her energy is unparalleled.
My heart is breaking the queen of rock has gone Tina Turner god bless her RIP but she'll never be forgotten
She was singing at Ike about alcohol and jail. What a woman one of the hardest heaviest funk tracks ever. Props to Ike for his talent he was brilliant but had hard hate in him.
Queen of Rock'n Roll - Ruhe in Frieden ❤
What shocking news! There’s a Tina sized void in all our hearts from this day forward! May God comfort all those who love you, Tina. You will be seriously missed by everyone!❤❤❤
Wrote about her hometown Nutbush , Tennessee. One of the greatest music entertainers in history. She passed last year. When she was 70 she was still extreme high energy concerts with her version of Credence Clearwater Revival of Rolling on the River. Young backup dancers had a tough time keeping up with her energy.
Ike is one of the greatest musicians to have lived and Tina is amazing
Annie Mae Bullock(or Anna) born in Nutbush, TN...came a longggg way! According to her movie documentary, it was not an easy road either. So saddened to hear about her health issues. I know with the health issues, it can change our appearances, but we will always love Tina for all the great music she gave us, and that we still love. Best of everything to her! She deserves it. ❤
I am here!! It is great. Lovely Tina
RIP TINA TURNER.. FOREVER IN OUR HEARTS 💕 ♥ ❤ 💓 💖
She came and did what needed to be done ❤
I'll always admire her for continuing to take care of family first. Ike's son from previous relat. is in a nursing home. She didn't visit him, but she paid for his nursing home bill. She really loved those boys ♥️. RIP Mrs. Turner. I'm going to keep praying that I can forgive people and just LOVE. Thanks for showing us by EXAMPLE.
Pure lengendary power!
