I think it's a great starter for people who are just starting with drinking whisky. When i have non whisky drinking friends over ill let them try this Adelphi blend
In my market this is half the price of JW Black, which I continue to enjoy. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and it sounds like time for me to pick this up! Cheers!
Bought a bottle of this about 6 years or so ago. Thusfar, the only bottle I was never able to finish, and I paid even less than you did. My palate definitely changed for the better though, maybe I'll give it another try. Thanks for the review. Awesome shirt btw, combining two of my favorite things!
Gotta love those 3 stripes! Yeah, this batch is quite good. I imagine many years ago, in the early days they would've had issues sourcing the consistent stock? Maybe? But this is a decent level up from most blends of that price.
Good on you for still liking the black label. It is such a point of reference whisky, due to its hugely recognisable flavour profile. Enjoying a Peat's Beast while watching this review. Not bad for 79 AUD
Fine review. Thank you, Phil. This is a fine Blend from Adelphi. Good quality for a decent price. There is also a peated version with 58 abv for 40 EUR. Cheers from Germany
Great review. Adelphi and Ardnamurchan are definitely a thing. There are some very early releases from Ardnamurchan now and their champagne cask finish one is quite yummy albeit youngish. There is a 4 bottle tasting pack floating around but not sure where it is available. I have added Ardnamurchan to my bucket list of distilleries to visit when (not "if" you truculent COVID virus) I go back to Scotland.
I've seen the tasting pack on mang auctions...still waiting to try and get hold of a bottle for the channel. Glad to know my brain wasn't leading me in the wrong direction.
remember seeing this in an early Ralfy video on recommended budget whisky when i was getting into it a few years ago. never seen it out in the wild so assumed it was long discontinued. its always good to have a sub £25 bottle in the cabinet as a reminder you dont have to drop +£100 on some limited single malt to have a good experience in whisky. some blends still punch above their weight/price point.
It sounds like a good bottle, but I've never seen it in the states. My current favorite budget-blend is Gordon Graham's Black Bottle; it's seriously-improved from a few years back. That being said, I have noticed some batch variation regarding it's level of smoke, but overall it's a decent drink.
This sounds like a great deal for the price! Not available here that I've seen, although some Adelphi was around 4 or 5 years ago. Different one obviously. Nice shout out on the Lot 40, it's a good one! (So is Forty Creek, by the bye.) Been mostly a Scotch drinker for a long time, just getting into my own country's spirits. Finally had the chance to try the much touted Alberta Premium Cask Strength. What a whisky! Insanely good, if you can ever get your hands on it it's worth it! (Only my opinion obviously.) Powerful $hi+ though, clocks in at 132 ABV. Thank goodness it takes (lots of) water REALLY well! 😁 Enjoyed the review, as always. Cheers Phil! 🥃 Marian 🇨🇦
Whisky in the 6 and Sippers Social Club have laid truth to how good Alberta Premium CS is. Trying to get it in the UK is an adventure to say the least. Lot 40 is wonderful. Managed to get a bottle of 3rd release CS the other day. Tried Signal Hill and wasn't a fan, but you can't win them all.

It's a great, well priced blend. Apart from some big rivals, it's hard to name a competitor.
Just bought one today. Surprisingly good quality at such low price 😮
It's so good!

A peated version at cask strength! Right, the hunt is on!

Absolutely! Couldn't agree with all of this anymore.
Great stuff!!!

I just picked up some black bottle yesterday. I used to drink it, but it disappeared from the market? Looking forward to trying it again.
It's a very decent drink!
Huh. New one on me too!
Worth the punt. It's got alot of charm.

( The Nikka from the Barrel should of course still be affordable, 6:34
around the world too I think. )
This is a very good point. My mind always jumps to Suntory.
Good to see you ''back on the barrel'' , @WW.
( as they say )
Ha - ha !
This is my barrel, there are many like it but this one is mine.
you should definitely try "aceo" botlings (caol ila 5 y.o., teaninich 5 y.o. known as smoky scot and glen cooper)
Is this a blended malt or seperate malt whiskies?
