The juror who held out was not supposed to be on the jury if he/she did not believe in the death penalty. Maybe a life sentence will force Cruz into obscurity. An execution might have ended up being a huge media event with candles lit and people praying and chanting. Cruz would have loved that. This way he will just fade away with no fanfare.

You don’t know if that one juror is 100% against the death penalty, she/he just saw one of the mitigating factors (factors that could be responsible for leading Cruz down the path to becoming a killer that were out of his control or “made” him become that way) as enough evidence to make him “less responsible” for the crimes, and therefore, in their eyes, not warranting the penalty of death. The person could be both for and against it, but in this particular case saw something in evidence that made them lean towards life in prison. If you ask me, he should have been executed the day after it happened in the most heinous and torturous way possible.

While in Florida, I saw a useless Sherriffs Department, a School System that hardly cared about educationing Students. Treated students as a number. I keep in contact with a few close friends in Florida. I will consider a few visits only after following the rules of reciprocating on weapon carrying between my State and Florida. Several ask if I would move back to Florida and I say NO!!!! Visits to NASA and Disney etc maybe. But Florida has gone from being a Conservative Trash Dump to a Liberal Trash Dump as a State!!! State Parks/ Campgrounds with algea in the Pools, Rich People that get away with being Predators!!! A drug and alcohol Garbage Dump!!!! I saw Bullying and hatred in the mid 80s and very early 90s. Only once a gun threat. Yes, Students/ punks getting away with too much at times. But there was only a 10 percent chance a mass shooting would have occurred. Thanks to the Monsters in the well known (even 30 years ago) corruption filled Fort Lauderdale area, Florida is hopeless in my opinion!!!! Start with Miami!!! I'm the type of person who sees the cause and effect of negative actions. As a victim of the manipulators in our society, and it's sad that I must admit that there are a lot of bad people who have professional tags that do it; that use passive aggressive strategies for the purpose creating a hostile environment that exists within a safe looking one, I must voice my opinion. When they have the upper hand, they'll use their position to psychologically bully anyone who is lower on the chain, and if another employee points it out, they get rid of that person. What frustrates them the most is when they cannot incite a good person into becoming insanely angry, and no matter how much they try to deny it, when people do identify them, they feel pit pressure that sinks right directly down into the pit of their guts. Sure, no one wants to take the chance of being shot and killed, but those people who manipulate? They'd rather face that fate, or cause others to be placed in harm's way than to be identified as being the real monsters. Have you ever met people who are like that? On the surface, they want to present the "nice guy or woman" image, but when they are discovered, they crawl into their little hiding hole while screaming profanities and searching for a way out. As difficult as it might be, and as tempting as it might be to lash out, I'm the type of person who simply will not lash out directly. I'm not a dangerous person. I've never killed or harmed anyone in my entire life. My goal is expose the really truly dangerous ones in our society. You know? The ones you trust around your children. In no way, shape, form, or fashion do I agree with what Nicholas did to those children, but I do think that it could have been avoided. The solution is simple: When you see a good teacher and/or a child that is being bullied in the school system, stand up for them. If that person never becomes violent, but he/she is constantly pointing out how he/she is being attacked, and other people can see it too, then that's when we need to come to that person's defense and speak out against it ourselves, and the violators need to be fired from their position(s).

And this is why I am against the death penalty. How do you know "god" who may or may not exist will even deal with him? According to BS christianity all you have to do is repent and you get to go to heaven. So by christian logic he will get to his reward far before you likely will should he repent. What a joke. Church and state need to get away from each other.

It is a true admission of wrong-doing and genuinely feeling remorseful; in other words, developing a conscious. I do believe that truly evil people will not repent because they have not and never will develop a conscious, even when they stand before hell.
