I'll bet the outtakes are hilarious. People who work with this team are rather fortunate. I love history but adore the finds of archaeology even more.

Harold came within a hair's breadth of being the greatest English King of all time. If only it hadn't been for those gung-hos in the shield-wall that fell for William's feigned retreats! 1066. What a completely incredible year, start to finish

I think Harold and his troops may have succeeded if they weren’t exhausted. The fast March they did to get to Hastings needs to be applauded just for itself. 🙏🙏🙏👵🇦🇺

I have an ancestor that fought in the battle of Hastings. And William the Conquerer is a distant cousin.

I wonder how old this episode really is b/c Mick is dead. He's been dead for a number of years, now. If I remember he died shortly after finding out the show was cancelled by the network.

Why only 3 days? It's not going anywhere.

It was the structure of the Time Team show. They would arrive at a site with all their crew and kit and then work for 3 days to see what could be discovered and resolved. On occasion they worked alongside an ongoing proper dig, but most often they would have the self-imposed 3 day limit to add a bit of drama and excitement for the viewers. When the show first started out it was rather slow and tedious but as each season progressed we, the viewers got to know the members of the team and the technology (and money to support it all) increased the production quality. It was (and still is) a much-loved show in Britain. It was cancelled eventually but has since been revised by the fans who now support it directly.

I'm sorry. I don't understand a country that venerates a presenter over someone who has credentials. That's all. I don't get it. Why not applaud the scientists?

Credentials are not the be all and end all. Tony is a very good communicator and scientists aren't known for their people skills. They do what they do best: archaeology. He does what he does best: presents the latest science to a curious public. I see no problem here.

Absolutely love Tony, I don't think anyone here on this squad is unhappy or unappreciated, so , I see no merit to your comment.

i dont understand why you decided its just one country.
im a patreon. Im not in the UK nor from the UK that means i PAY to make time teams episodes, even though i dont even live in the country its made, and tony was a treasure to this show.
his ability to goad and prod the various experts outside their comfort zone and really show their great personalities and skills, was a real coup for the show as a whole.
i feel sad for you that youre so close minded..

Who is stopping anyone from applauding the scientists? A narrator or presenter usually does have credentials of some kind. Tony Robinson is in fact a respected historian in his own right. Often they have degrees in communication, journalism, etc. that enable them to translate and summarize technical data into language an average layperson can understand. Tony Robinson isn’t taking anything away from this production or from these scientists, I can assure you. This show was popular for decades and has been revived by crowdfunding, again with a presenter. I’m sorry if YOU don’t understand it, but obviously millions of people do.
