I'm quite sure the drill is part of a 'gritty' part of the song and is meant to sound unnerving rather than enjoyable at that moment. Surely it's more that people like the dark atmosphere of that part of the song as part of an experience? Like watching a horror film for a thrill etc.

The crosswalk sound in Australia is so nice. Here in Belgium you also have like a sound, but that sound gives you stress and you will feel like your life depends on how fast you walk across the road... or is it just me?

That's because he wasn't the star of the show (even though I never watched an entire episode of the show)....also, he looks different now because it ended many years ago and he wasn't so big as he is now so he hadn't someone telling him what to do with his public image, he hadn't released Ocean Eyes on Soundcloud (if that story is true).
