This episode was genuinely insane, i genuinely thought that this universe's Simon actually somehow managed to conquer the crown but i think this episode is just hammering home the point that the crown's curse can't be dominated without some sacrifice in return.
That's what I was thinking too, I guess prime simon is really unique cuz of the thing betty did for him, the crown is really powerful, I think that in any other circumstance simon would had grow old and die like winter king did
Well, if Simon gets a crown that has been rebooted, he can always make a wish that doesn’t result in his insanity.

That's something i really love about AT, the show really enjoys its tragedy and irony.
Finn and Minerva never learned how much martin loved them and how what happened in that day.
Simon became sane again only to lose Betty.
He didnt lie when he said he conquers the crown but the curse remains only separated proof when bonny turns back
i find it interesting that they kept the detail of simon being so used to the cold, and ice seeing as he spent so much time practically frozen that he doesn't shiver with BAREFEET on the ice
Ice king is not exactly evil because he doesn't really realize what he is doing . Winter king knows what's going on . Not only that he knows how it feels to be trapped in the crown , yet he chooses to keep Bonnie in that state
yet he still treat her nicely. Like, as if PB and adventure time world in general arent crazy or wacky
What so interesting I have always viewed the crown as an allegory for mental illness, what’s so great is that the twist of winter king just pushes it off on others he never overcame it he just found a way to make it some one else’s problem, which I feel really kind of hits different when people say oh just get over something like depression or anxiety I think this is a really great depiction of how “just get over it.” Never is the right answer to mental illness
Considering the whole scenario, it is possible that there is some truth in the lies sung by the Winter Wizard. Apparently his story was the same as simon's until he became the Ice King, in his song after the part where he describes his anger he says that he won the crown by force of will, what I think happened is that the Ice King in a moment of rage and insanity killed the Marceline of this world, which was enough trigger for him to recover his sanity long enough to at least idealize how to transfer his curse. After that, he creates a child Marceline to try to make a fresh start with her, but he can't trust himself and he can't trust that he won't hurt her, so he locks her up, keeping her, or at least a shadow of her, safe, safe from the world and above all from himself.
I feel like in this universe he couldn’t protect her during their travels since it shows them in his song early on but after that it was rage. He created an ice Marcy and gave her everything he couldn’t have given her from the original timeline and has her safe in his winter wonderland. I saw a theory that this might have been a wish from Marcy to prismo and it monkeypawed into this. He was aware that helping the candy queen instead of just knocking her out would interrupt where he’s at mentally
@@TrillFreak in naruto, they lock evil on a person sacrificed for it. That person wont die, but live with the evil essentially a walking nuke. Community as a whole then usually shunned that person (since its a walking nuke and bcs that evil destroyed the city long time ago). I felt the same comparison with this simon. He transfers his craziness to PB but he still treat her well and acted like playing some games, knowing she bears the 'evil'. A little narcissistic, but calling him evil is just too much

There's an Ice Marcy that's seen in one moment, and she melts away when The Winter King dies.
Does this imply that Marceline never became a vampire in this dimension, and perhaps The Winter King made Ice Marcy to cope?
Either that or Marcy was shocked by what he did with PB and ran away from him.
I think there’s several things that could have happened. Whenever Ice Marcy was on sceeen, she had her axe bass- like the ACTUAL bass, not made of ice. We don’t know how WK got it, but either Marceline did die in this universe and that contributed to Simon’s “snap,” or Marceline found out what he was doing to Bubblegum, they had a falling out, and then he somehow got the belonging.
It’s kinda hard to gauge the timeline of what happened in this universe because Ice Marcy (who WK portrayed as young little kid Marcy) was holding a bass she was meant to get from her demon father, which is wayyyy down the line. Maybe she died at a young age, maybe she died at an older age, or maybe she’s not dead at all. All we know is that WK remembers and misses her. Idk I think it’s kinda interesting

Somehow, he was at least more cunning than orginal Simon. He came up on idea that to conquer that madness he has to convert that madness on someone else.

Maybe in that moment in the original series, when he snaps out of the crowns possession, and Summons, Betty. Instead of doing that, he moved the curse.
Something I adore about Adventure time is how effortlessly it introduces the wildest ideas without needing to fully explain itself. So much of the worldbuilding is built out of other characters going off and having their own adventures which are never fully explored, our view into Ooo is a tiny vignette which can never truly cover how bloody massive the world and its stories are. What was up with the ice Marcy? What lead to the Ice King escaping the madness? Was it a random thing that Ice King did on a whim and decided not to undo? Or did he manage to figure it out fully whilst under the curse? Was the whole situation just 100% him projecting the madness onto Bonnie, or did he deliberately swap personalities with her? Where are Finn and Jake in this Universe? How did Winter King instantly recognize Simon, implying a considerable understanding of the multiverse? Though PB understanding the difference between our Simon and WK makes sense, I'm pretty sure she knows at least a bit about the multiverse. So many questions, and they all have answers that you can come to in your own time. It doesn't feel the need to explain itself too much when the audience can fill in the blanks itself. I like that about it.
I am so strongly confident that this versions of marceline is either wandering around a vampire somewhere or died at some point considering that replica literally has her bass

ice king was actually in the process of becoming more functional and respectable before he was effectively eradicated in the finale, mostly through cultivating healthy relationships with those that he used to torment. even though he did some messed up stuff, ice king was never actually a threat and was already halfway to the winter king's more lucid, put-together and capable state without completely abandoning his morality, repressing his trauma, and scapegoating his psychological anguish on someone else like winter king did instead of reaching out to others and finding healthier outlets to cope. even if he never reverted back to simon i could see ice king gradually evolving into a better version of a quasi-winter king within the 12 year time skip.

I did see the whole episode, but I honestly don't see how making someone go through your own disorder so you'd be free would be possible. So, honestly, I'm only taking the "conquering the crown through willpower and effort" metaphor. I like to see it that way, personally.

I'm reading it as a neurodivergent person dealing with their disorder in a healthy way, because it speaks to me and because I think fits Simon himself, who I also read as a metaphor for losing your mental disorder. My friend and I agree that "Part of the madness" would be us if we stopped being neurodivergent. Now normal, but feeling like something's missing.

I honestly think that Simon and Bubblegum are wrong.
*I Think Winter King Did Break Through The Madness Through Sheer Force Of Will.* But since the crown was made by an elemental with Extremely Rare components, it required something Extremely Powerful set up to properly delete/store the Madness. And since such a thing wasn't set up before hand the madness went into the nearest vessel, which was Bubblegum (probably during a kidnapping (which explains why Candy Queen thinks She & Winter King Belong together)).
They probably think otherwise because they know what terrible things the Ice King can do and assume he did them.
This also, explains why his reaction to Candy Queen and the general subject of her madness.
The Winter King embodies the side of Simone that Betty never spoke up against. His selfishness. He's sane, but he had no problem manifesting his will despite the effects it had on someone else.
