Notice all the modern high tension power lines in the semi-distant background! Also @ 4;40 the casket miraculously has a lid again.....amazing, and just a few minutes later it doesn't....LOL!
Funny, ole Sarge needed to borrow a bayonet yet again. I wish my pickup was as good on gas as the truck in this episode since Sarge only but a little bit of fuel in it from the Jerry Can. I do own some Jerry cans and without a spout, I get petrol all over the place. All in all, I still liked the episode, nice irony of a symbol of death (casket) being used to save the living.
OMG...I remember parts of this episode like 50 years ago was yesterday!! The old lady chasing the coffin, down the hill, into the water, dragging it down the road and then Sarge SHOOTING IT UP! No other episode do I remember so vividly. Guess it made an impact on a 7 year old!
Poor Kirby. He has to be leading the squad in purple hearts at this point, plus all those hand injuries from holding a weapon with such a kick to it, like it was something docile. I imagine some of the injuries were real, because of the action of the bolt when fired. Like M-1 thumb.
Nina Foch was also in the Ten Commandments movie with Charlton Heston. She played Pharaoh's sister who found Moses floating down the Nile and raised him as her son. She also played a Roman citizen in Spartacus with Kirk Douglas. Two great movies! If you haven't seen'em watch'em!
It cost a lot of money to make them scenes and I know about The lead on the coffin. They had some young Jewish riders who didn’t consult with some of The gentle writers but most of the time they get it right Combat is a good show
Not one of the best episodes in this series. That coffin and the lid appearing and disappearing was ridiculous. It rolled down a hill and landed upside down in the water while w/o a lid, yet the body never fell out. Kirby is a better actor as an abrasive "smart-Alec" than as a suffering person.
@@brucealvarez9263 The body was back at home. That's why the mother wanted to take that right hand turn early on. There was not supposed to be a body present. But I get how someone would think there was, the way she was going cray-cray over the box.
@@RishayanPorMexico After dropping off Kirby, sarge came out of the aid station and had Caj tell mom that he had arranged for a casket to be sent to her home. Pay attention! He he.
@Legion 57 BI found her behavior troubling, especially risking her life to retrieve the casket from the torrent. But, remember she was minding her own business when it all started.
Music in ending scene always makes my heart warm.
Greatest line in the episode is when Kirby first gets in the truck, sees the casket and says “sarge you think of everything “
LOLOL!!!!
Sarge drew a perfect happy face into that coffin
gotta love the 60's :)

This is a great episode . Doesn't have to always be shooting action . High drama works too 👍👀👏

Jesus Christ, lady - it's a box! But then, she has no respect for the living.
I almost couldn't watch because of her

very good episode!Veryvery good..thanks
In the midst of war, humanity survives.
That is the same bridge that the private got stuck on during the Red Ball Express.
That looks like the same broken bridge in esp.5 with Clade Akins as a truck driver.....YES
This one had so many blunders , its amazing that it made it to copy
Even tho these are all fiction..they let me understand and know more about WW2
She's a great cryer!!!!!!!!!
At the end Vic tells her he had arranged for a casket to be sent to her.
Elle tres mechant! I have a good laugh here hahahha!
Oui , et moi aussi ..!

I'm confused. Does this coffin have a lid or not?
Was wondering that too when first saw it in the truck bed. Good observation.
Sometimes it does lol
@@motomark9736 the viewer has to "write in" his own explanation
With all that dieing, a casket might be hard to come by.
I'm sure nobody had enough $ for that.

There was no body in the truck when they first stopped it, nor was there a lid. The lid didn't show up until it was being dragged down the road.
The mother and son were on there way to get the body. Doesn't the caskegt have a hinged lid?

While coffin was first falling down hill it rolled over and NO body was in it. This was a very poor script. Lazy writing on whoever's part!!?
Sarge with his Rolex again
I wonder what name the I'd bracelet has on it!!!!????
Vic should have left the watch at home or dressing room!!!
They mostly all back then wore their personal jewelry.
"...the kid has a change too..." Great!
Sorry for my English.
Testing.
They should have replace the casket or gave the old woman money to by one in the allied held town.
Not!

They did replace the coffin.
Don't split up the episodes anymore pain in the ass
