Hey Jim, those white 'multi-cart' Super Famicom carts at the start are empty carts that you would take to kiosks back in the day and load up games on to them. You can overwrite games too, the whole idea being that it's much cheaper than buying regular individual carts. I think each one could hold 5-6 SFC games on it. I remember buying unlabelled ones in Japan just for the surprise to see what the previous owner had loaded onto it all those years ago.
I remember the times when these games cost $ 10-15 and no one chased them. Collectors you are crazy! It's so good that now there are emulators and you can safely play your favorite childhood game without spending THOUSANDS of dollars on it.
@@MadPanicGaming I had about 1500 games and 25 consoles in my collection for 2017. Then I realized that I would become a hostage to these boxes. After all, as a child, we did not buy these games for the boxes? At the moment, I have already sold more than half of the collection. But I continue to play my favorite games on the emulator. Yes, it is not always the same thing. The original hardware is perceived in a completely different way. But I am categorically opposed to spending millions of dollars on the plastic.
It’s interesting how expensive the mega drive has gotten over there. I’ve found on U.K. eBay over here really good deals on complete Japanese Mega Drive games. The import scene was big here back in the day so shops would import a lot over. Love how well the Japanese look after their stuff tho. I got a Super Shinobi 2 and it looked that new if I didn’t know better I’d say it was a repro. Great video as usual.
That's thing with collecting MD games, they'd be much cheaper if you could find them loose, but those cases are built to withstand a nuclear blast so you pretty much always find them complete and in great shape, which is precisely what collectors want.
@@MadPanicGaming yeah they really are well made. The fact (apart from no hang tabs) they are also the same style of box across regions means they look uniform on a shelf. I do love the little Sunsoft boxes tho. A retro shop owner I know told me that back in the day they thought their order was wrong until they opened it as the box of their Batman stock was so small 😅
Thank goodness for emulators, and hacked translated roms! I enjoyed playing retro games on my Raspberry Pi, but I love seeing these retro games in physical cartridge format.
Super Potato is quite expensive on the rare games but still....the price jumps over the last 5-6 years are crazy... especially Mega Drive or Neo Geo.... I recall buying Battlemania Daiginjou for around 400$ with a friend at Mandarake in Osaka in 2016... only for PC Engine it seems that the rise in prices hasn't been that devastating.... although lol at Shinsetsu Shiawase Usagi 2 costing 14k yen.... and it is somewhat funny that Renny Blaster costs around 40k Yen since I entered the PCE hobby in 2002....
Hey Jim! Thanks for last handful of great top notch vids. Production value is epic! BUT clean you lens or time to update cam? As the clarity is way less sharp than vids like this a year or so ago. Really hard to see prices on most even on my 55inch tv even at brighter lit hard offs.
I know everyone rags on super potato but it’s a really special place to visit and there are decent priced games to be found - just the rare ones are very overpriced haha
@@MadPanicGaming the amount of options the game has seems fantastic. No port since seems to have had as many options. Hope we both able get one eventually but it really has shot up.
JIm, you've always done a good job of managing your money and you know where to search to get the best possible deal you want for a specific video game, but out of curiosity - how often do you usually save your money to buy a title that will always remain expensive. Do you buy a moderately priced game maybe once a month or maybe once every 6 months when it comes to buying something that may be a little on the expensive side when it comes to your own personal video game tastes.
These days I honestly don't purchase any big stuff for myself anymore, only for other people. I've slowed my collecting down to a crawl at this point, typically picking up some cheap stuff and a new Switch title here and there when I feel like it.
PREVIEW They are, The Nintendo Power Flash Cartridges. Satellaview are the one's that look like gameboy adapter, not sure why they are so expensive but the one before them looked like a review copy of a hutson soft game.
These prices are ridiculous, people paying that much just to sit on them, hoping their value continues to climb, the games themselves never played. The average collector is being priced out of the collecting market, one game at a time.
@@MadPanicGaming You are indeed, a lot of other collectors put them in plastic and have them graded, never ever to see insertion into a console. Even common games are starting to be graded and sealed in plastic.
Expensive games at _Super Potato_ ?! Naaaaw, lol. That glass case is more like a museum built to mock my destitution. "Oh, you want nice things gaming peasant? Too bad!" At least they're graded, mostly CIB, and you know you'll get what you pay for (if you agree it's worth that much.)
Yeah, you definitely can't say there's anything deceptive about how they present their games. This is why I invoke the image and music of The Million Dollar Man, I can imagine him buying up all the games and laughing in my face.

Thanks for the info! I really had no idea.
I’ve got one with Famicom Wars on it!

I agree with you there. Unless you're a hardcore collector with disposable income, emulators are a blessing.

“Everybody’s got a price. Hahaha!” - Million Dollar Man Ted Dibiase
6:51 Renny Blaster is an awesome game 👏😎. I also like how you slowed down the Elm Street music at the very end.
Dream games in these Money Case…These are pieces of art.

Love the Ted Dibiase music on your expensive game vídeos haha
It just seemed so fitting
Your videos bring me much joy! 😊🔥🥳
Happy to be of service

Rare video games are investments, not for playing. 🙂
wow holy hell those are some expensive games! seems like the neogeo stuff is back up to where it was originally, lol!

Oh, and Metal Slug 3 is my favorite too!
Zombie blood vomit canon, enough said.
Love it. Hopefully lockdown unlocks by March so I can buy some of it.
Fingers crossed

Precisely
Always wanted the Dreamcast Super Street Fighter 2 X. I got lucky in that I got Dreamcast stuff when it was current but that was one I missed out on.
It's missing from my collection as well. Maybe someday.

1:57 anyone knows what games those are? The ones with the dragons on the cover. Looks cool.
Macross on sfc is one that i like to get .
It's a damn fine game
Looks like you're gonna need a 10k kid's game box option Jim 😳Sweet vid! Always cool to see what games are expensive in other countries
Hmm, not sure how many millionaires watch my video though.
@@MadPanicGaming 😂
Can someone tell me where the background music is from?
That song at the beginning is the 16-bit version of Ted Dibiase's WWF theme, and for the rest of the video is the Mario Kart Wii channel music.
@@MadPanicGaming thanks so much! I love your videos!
Those prices are out of control
Ouch, that Serial Experiments Lain for 600 bucks... xD
Super Potato is the VGNY of Japan. They seem to over price their inventory marginally above average going rates.

Super Potato prices give me palpitations
I saw Ted DiBiase on the thumbnail and I immediately knew where this was going. 🤑
1:47 satellaview carts - with rarer games

Why are those Switch games in the case so expensive?

I guess I'm an oddball then, because anytime I've bought an expensive ass game like this, I play the hell out of that thing before shelving it.
