When this came out I played it for my ten person music theory class and there was a very loud twenty minute argument about whether or not that ‘jingle jingle jingle all the way’ part actually used the same beats and chord progression as the og song, and it has still not been resolved. I’m absolutely positive it takes instrumental inspiration as well as just words, but it was like a WHOLE thing lmao

Honestly one of the best Christmassy songs in the last decade. SO DONE with blah saccharine pop ballads and remakes of remakes of remakes of Bing classics. I was literally complaining that nobody has created GOOD new holiday music since Owl City when this came out.
When Felix says it’s Christmas Eve in the beginning in a very grungy kind of voice I take it as this is a song the song by the grinch himself because it’s very anti-Christmas all while saying merry Christmas
