Im going to try this…I like that meatloaf, a piece of it comes on menu item #82 which I order at my favorite VN restaurant here but I like cooking my own favorites too. That plate you prepared looks very simiar to #82! Thats a nice knife you’re using too…. Now I’m hungry!
Hey there Fish sauce Mama ♥️ Just planted a few of my rooted Thai Basil! I have more rooting and I'm gonna pick up more from grocery store when I go again. What other Asian herb plant can I try to root? Have you done a video on making Pho? I'd love to know how to make it right. ♥️
Not FSM but I love Thai Basil and want to give a little warning based off my own experience growing it. This year I have a real problem with Downy Mildew. I'm pretty sure it came in on an Emerald Tower basil plant I got from the nursery and looking at the way that plant grows it's no wonder, it's really compact and shades itself. Anyway, it got on my Thai Basil right away and just started destroying it from the bottom up so I cut the stems down, leaves off, and treated with copper. It's incurable and I know it's still present but we have hot weather here so I'm just trying to keep it at bay with the hot sun on my side along with watering the soil not the leaves, and pruning for better air flow. Just giving you a heads up because it seems to really like basil and given cool nights and dew will take off faster than you can imagine. My lemongrass, peppers, and mint are doing great but they say the spores can live up to eight years in the soil similar to tomato diseases so I guess this is my new normal growing basil now. Prevention is key, not treatment after signs show up. It likes cool wet nights and water on top of the leaves, any leaves touching the soil or fallen / yellowing leaves should be removed to the trash not compost.
You are absolutely right on Ben. Yes I got hit pretty bad this year. I am out of copper spray but in the process of treating this downy mildew. To have to chos all short and remove all leave, in the trash and spray with copper and let it restart. In the meantime, I am growing in pots with new soil away from the problem areas. I have holy basil right next to it but seems to to okay so far. Pretty sad that I don't have much basil this year but still trying 😁
Mary, here's my Pho recipe. ua-cam.com/video/pM4yXfDJgik/v-deo.html You can totally do pepper mints, vietnamese mint, fish mint, lemongrass, just put them in water and they will grow roots.
Hey Mitch. Do you mean this recipe? ua-cam.com/video/9ERm1s9sBNM/v-deo.html this is salted fish meatloaf. I used the whole fish but there's grounded kind you can use. I can't think of other kind right now that I usually make meatloaf with. I do sometimes do mushroom meatloaf and ground fish meatloaf.
That Southern accent is very unique but that is an authentic Vietnamese meatloaf recipe.
Will be making it tonight. Thanks for sharing.

Hey Melanie! Have you ever made it with fermented fish sauce? That’s how I usually make mine. I will try try your recipe one day and let you know.

@@fishsaucemama oh yes, I always make the salted fish meatloaf version. I never knew there were so many versions.
I didn't see add nuoc mam in this meat loaf, is it ok to add some?
I think it's a bit strong to add, but a bit won't be an issue. I just prefer not because it should be salty enough for me
