- Jackie Chan is a true icon of Asian and Chinese culture. Over a 45-year-long career, he has carved a niche for himself as an actor, stuntman, director, and screenwriter, but also singer and formidable businessman.
After starring in almost 200 films, Chan has reconciled fans of genre film and Hollywood blockbusters, whilst bridging the gap between Asian and Western cinema.
Through film excerpts, archive footage and images, and an offbeat approach inspired by the visual codes of the golden age of kung fu films, this documentary will take a look back at the creation of a popular hero who has come to be an icon for China, and the entire Asian continent.

Thanks. I need this tribute. The back story of how he was part of the fray needed to fill the void left by Bruce Lee's death and how the HK industry adapted, how he rose etc was very inspiring and revealing. The heart of this birth story was how he rejected being a copycat of BL and he wedged in his own brand of self deprecating humour into his bread and butter stuntman experience for storytelling. Good stuff. Nice doco.

Great doc, but the needs to be proofed a little bit more before release. multiple audio errors and choppy and unintentional transitions between scenes.
Excuse me, he was born in HK, which at that time belonged to the UK and HK returned to Mainland China in 1997.

Chan is a Buddhist and has always wanted to be a role model to children, remaining popular with them due to his good-natured acting style. He has refused to play villains and has almost never used the "F word" in his films. Chan's greatest regret in life is not having received proper education, inspiring him to fund educational institutions around the world. He funded the construction of the Jackie Chan Science Centre at the Australian National University and the establishment of schools in poor regions of China. He has promised over half of his estate to go to charity after he dies.

Jackie must know by now, no matter how 'great he becomes' he'll never be anything of value to the regime once they're through with him.
