"I want you guys to have new content every week." This is a man who cares about his fans. Thank you Jay Leno
He does indeed!
I'd like to second this thought from charleetho: Thank you, Jay, for taking the time to do this! You even motivate me to get out and change my oil, rotate my tires and wish I had the odd automotive gem in *my* garage. :-)
Such a great channel, I enjoy every video !
Very well said! Love every video he makes, such a legend.
I was thinking the same thing- Thank you Jay for loving your cars, and your fans alike. I appreciate your time
I knew Peter Monteverdi from the time I made my apprentice at a well-known luxury Hotel at the Bürgenstock (Switzerland) where he often spent the weekend. Great guy and excellent car.
Sounds like some great memories 👍
'Jay: 'As you can see, it's not particularly clean under here''
Motor: Shines back
i was about to say that his cars are show ready
Ha ha. Yes, exactly!
I think he's thinking of all the fingerprints and road dust on the black trim panels and the quilted bit inside the hood. They probably even wiped down the aluminum and chrome before they started filming and Leno was just still feeling nervous about it. I would be willing to bet that he wants to steam the guts and detail everything under the hood whenever he shows a car just because the guy seems so passionate about the collection and cars in general. Still, I think we all know they wouldn't be out of place at any car show. Hell, some of the stuff that putts down the road at the Woodward Dream Cruise in Detroit some years is 75% rust and 25% grime
Quite. Compared to everyone else's cars it's immaculate.
I love Jay's enthusiasm. It's like when you were young and the kid next door wanted to show you his baseball card collection. He doesn't just get excited about super rare high-dollar cars. He enjoys all of them and always points out the positive aspects of each vehicle. It's good to see someone like him taking care of these cars, enjoying them and sharing them. Thanks Jay.
Watching Jay's videos and listening to his stories is like hanging out with a friend you never met. Thanks Jay !
I would love to hang out with Jay and see his huge collection of rare cars in that big garage of his.
mike brabant I wouldn’t even need to see all the cars. Hangin’ out for a week or even a day and just enjoying the environment and life lessons would be awesome
It really is! Great way to explain it, its like soul food
"Uncle Jay"
I love it
Man, seems like we have Enzo to thank for a lot of things... Lamborghini, Monteverdi, Ford GT40, ...
So glad Jay drives his cars! Cars need to be driven.
Hahah, yes!
Thank you Enzo for the Pontiac Fiero Enzo 😍💕
Lamborghini’s origins are murky. We don’t actually know what happened, despite what the internet thinks. I’ve read that Bob Wallace said it isn’t true, and that Lamborghini thought he could make a profit.
Thanks Jay, I remember seeing my first Monteverdi, I was 14 years old sneaking a look of my dads new issue of Playboy (1975) where they did a feature of european exotics. A beautiful side shot of the Monteverdi, 512 BB & a Lancia Stratos was burnt into my memory forever. Although I didn't remember a single girl in the issue I remembered every single car the featured. Thats when I realized I was truly a car guy.
You did a great job filming that video by yourself. 👍
Just Jay and one of his cars, that’s all we need!
:)
Right on!
Alright man!
That and the woman who designed the new Acura NSX! lol
@@bobjohnson205 She deserves to be slapped for the pig's breakfast that she served up as the new NSX.
I love these "one on one" videos. Feels like I'm standing next to the car while Jay gives me a personal tour of it.
Same! totally agree
Yeah I also really like how personal these CV-19 videos feel
Pretty impressive he's filming his own stuff - keeping it low buck and he definitely doesn't have to turn a profit on this, just his passion for writing and making these videos.
These 'Covid versions' feel like Jay is an old high school friend showing you one of his beauties.
I love all the historical references and appreciate seeing the underbody of the cars irrespective if a garage princess or daily driver.
Thanks Jay !
Robert, I have to completely agree with that. Jay's 'One Man Show" is very personable and gives about the same information minus the supporting cast that comes to visit occasionally. It might take Jay a bit more time investment due to the lack of help but the results are still very worthwhile. I like it.
"Grandpa, what did you do during the Covid Pandemic?"
"We had the great Jay Leno to get us through tough times"
true facts
Jay you rock! A lot of rich guys own nice cars, but jay knows about cars!!! He is a true gear head/ car guy! You understand and know car talk! Thank you Jay!!!
:)
so true. So many millionares with car collections who don't even know how combustion engine works.
sdry so true!! And to have as many cars as Jay has and he knows everyone of them!!
If I had the money to pay to learn as I go, I'd know alot. But he earned it
He started off a mechanic before he started doing comedy
Jay is the type of guy who would change his own tire on the highway with his wife in the passenger seat not letting anyone know continue to their dinner with friends and not even mention it. Now you show me another celebrity that would do that. That’s because Jay is a normal dude that just happens to have incredible talent in comedy and obviously smarter then most people. Thanks for keeping it real Jay.
“A Plymouth Roadrunner that went to school in Europe.” Love that!
that went to the best european plastic surgeon, I'd say... that thing is gorgeous...
Love that Jay!
I appreciate Jay sharing his collection as he does. He's a great steward of his collection.
This car's profile is fantastic. I mean, the whole car is gorgeous but that profile, wow.
agreed
Too much rear overhang for me.
@@GiggyBob I can see that, but I kind of like the overhang. I think it balances the car out a bit, perhaps on purpose for weight ratio.
The rear roofline sort of reminds me of a cross between the 1965 Mustang 2+2 and the Dodge Charger.
Looks similar to a jaguar xjs to me.
I always loved the Monteverdi, from the first time I remember seeing one in Classic and Sportscar magazine, here in England, when I was a kid. I thought they looked fantastic, and with that big Chrysler lump up front, (I've always been a big fan of American muscle cars too), what's not to Love. Like Jay said, you were getting all the advantages of a big torque, big hp and reliable American V8, but with handling and comfort of a European GT. I also remember you could pick up a good usable example for £10-15K back then too. Oh, how times have changed. It's crazy to see the prices of a lot of these type of cars now, which, until a few years ago, were still accessable to the average person. It seems that a lot of Jay's cars were bought many years ago, and what an investment. I know his collection is purely about the love of machinery and driving/riding and not about profit, but I'd love to know how much it's worth now, compared to when purchased. His McLaren F1, and the Miura he got for free, although it had a seized engine, are just two examples, which are now worth an insane amount of money, compared, to say, a couple of decades ago.
Jay, Just me and Taffy my dog really liking the solo “pandemic” episodes.
Pat
PLYMOUTH ROADRUNNER THAT WENT TO COLLEGE IN EUROPE!
I love it 🤣👌
Good call
I would have said finishing school, but, yes, great analogy
Brilliant analogy, that anyone can understand.
I'll almost be sorry when you go back to the old way of doing the show, I really like this more intimate format.
Me too. It’s like we’re in his head with him listening to him thinking
Hear, hear!
Agreed!
I agree, feels even more like we're just having a 1-on-1 chat with him
Usually if/when he puts the car on the lift, I'll get some asmr tingles. They will be missed!
I went in a Monteverdi in the very early 70s, that was at the London Earl's Court motor show. I guess this is the same vehicle.
Thank you for this video. I always like it when you say “Let’s take it next door and put it on the lift!”
That is an interesting car! Just when you think you have seen it all, Jay pulls something like this out of the hat!
:) agreed!
Thanks for the history, Jay. Beautiful car, and a great shade of red.
:)
Jay, As soon as the engine sound in the intro came on... my interest perked up!!! This incredible car has all great features of sensibility. Gorgeous and smart!! Love this car!! Love it! ♡♡♡
Man, so appreciative that Jay keeps making these during this crappy year! Binge-watching these is a pleasure.
1952 different color and car
The Monteverdi sign still is on the outside of the building where i think they started building the cars. want me to take a picture of it ? its not far from my place..
Please upload it!
Please do.

Jay actually reads the comments! What a stand-up guy!
Agreed!
The "C" pillar looks like a cross between a first generation Mustang and a Vega!
Awesome car!
I see that. Also, the headlights look a little like a 260Z.
I was thinking the same thing about the looks.
The taillights and rear panel resemble a fancier Volare
After all is said and done, I love this car. All of what Jay says hits home and my other favorite is Tim Allen's "COPO" Camaro. Balance, purpose, beauty, and reliable function are all key.
Almost a dream experience would be to "be" in the garage and feel what guys in the day felt at the time. Growing up in the 70s, later had a '74 Z-28 with a bored 402 from a Chevelle SS and a Hurst 4-speed that had a mismatched flywheel and shook itself to pieces but it was fast and loud... I was young.
Graduated to a couple of 5.0 Mustangs that were fast in the day. My favorite was a '91 Notchback for 11k off the floor. Went to Formula 350s and hopped them with SLP as the handling was and is still great with WS6.
My '05 GTO was the most underrated, understated. At 400hp with the tricky 6 speed, it sounded awesome, had torque to spare, got great mileage on the highway, was comfortable, and reliable. A true sleeper.
Jay, you are a true Vehicle Philosopher Supreme. My heroes have expanded beyond George Patton and Carroll Shelby to include you.
My late Dad had a collection of Kodachrome slides from car shows from the 50s when the cars were only 20-30 years old. I cherish them. Preserving history guarantees the feeling never dies. To VHP!!! May you live long and happy.
I much prefer when Jay is by himself, usually the guest(s) feel compelled to be "entertaining", which they're usually not.
agree. i just tried to watch one with a guest and the guests spend so much time trying to sell the car and sensationalize things. i just like to hear mr. leno do his thang. i know its not practical long term but i do enjoy these more so than with guests.
Mr. Leno, i think you're doing a splendid job. You're one of the car world gems.
Indeed!
I agree
He and Scotty Kilmer.

+Art Vandelay Are you OK, mate?
Really happy to hear you use it frequently. I hate people who buy cars just to look at them. Thats not what they were made for! Keep em coming!
Thanks Jay,
Weirdly enough, I like these one on one videos, you sound almost sad to not have company, but the general tone and balance of the car tour is very focused, smooth, honest, enjoyable.
Thanks for the inspiration and keep on trucking!
"It's a dirty engine." My engine should be so dirty! I was blinded by the shine of the engine when the hood was opened. I love the color better than the yellow. I wish i could get a better view of the paint job. Nice car!
lol it looked pretty damn clean to me
Jay embarrassed by the rust on the exhaust crossover of the intake manifold probably...
I had never even heard of Monteverdi - lovely looking vehicle, sounds nice too...thanks for sharing it with us!
Yeah well it's Swiss actually. Nothing italian about it
@@yvesnyfelerph.d.8297 They used to be in Binningen. The former production location was turned into a museum. I have been there long time ago...
Motorhead -- you know . . . the Rainbow Room . . . Lemmy . . .
Never heard of a Bizarrini too, but if its Italian it always looks great
Bitter 412
The carburetor induction sound is sweeeeet!
Always loved Monteverdi’s. I used to stare at them in the automotive yearbooks. So special in design and filosofie. Never seen any in real life. I would love to own one and take a trip down the riviera. Dream car.
I love getting to see unique cars like this. I also loved getting to see the underside. That’s a part we rarely get to see on these cars. Thanks!
Agreed! :)
Jay,
Your passion gets portrayed in all of us who partake in your dream. Thankyou for all you do to make motoring history and your museum avaliable for all to see. Your a true patriot and saint. If America could give knighthoods you sir would definitely have one.
Jay has always been one of my heros, & the stories he told, like the car he bought with no windows, he was in high school,
it started to rain, only to look outside to see his parents covering his car with a tarp. That just rings in my heart.
Love these videos, particularly this Monteverdi, my favourite so far. What a beautiful well sorted car. Cheers Jay, brilliant.
This is the first time I see this car and I hear about Monteverdi. I love getting this kind of surprises.
Thanks Jay!!!
Love these less well known automobiles. Absolutely beautiful
Same! :)
I always chuckle when Jay mentions the ash trays and says "ah everybody smoked back then"😁
Young people can't believe it when I tell them that in my youth I didn't know an adult that didn't smoke.
People smoked in airplanes, restaurants and grocery stores. I don't miss that.
@@grantrichards4950 I do. Light a cigarette now and people look at you like you've got the plague.

Travelling Europe was all the rage, many beautiful cars not readily available in N. America.
This beauty rolled around different exotic countries.
Great memories, thanks
Many thanks for showing this lovely car Jay . I recently started to restore a Dinky toys 375 and found out quite a lot of information on these . Seeing as the laced wheels are a tad difficult to replicate ,I’ll stick to using some Mopar magnum wheels off of another 1:43 scale Mopar! ... Jay -- I hope one day you get to show the sportier mid engined - HEMI - Monteverdi called the ‘Hai’ - which is German for shark ( not Japanese for yes..... ! ) and that’s definitely a Mopar starter motor LOL !
Imagine having the means to make all of your automotive dreams come true. Jay really is living an incredible life.
Jay wants to “make sure we have new content for you guys so you don’t have to watch reruns.” 🤗 Does he love us or what?! #Humility and brings out this gorgeous beautiful wunderschön Monteverdi! So low and long and wide - so simple yet strong. Thanks Jay - we love you too brother! 💙🙏🏼🏁
Loving the pandemic episodes of Jay showing us all these wonderful cars. Jay's passion and knowledge shine through. Imbued with his personal stories and anecdotes, these episodes are wonderful entertainment. Thank you Jay
One of the best channels on UA-cam. Thank you Jay for your love of all things mechanical!!
The design is from Carrozzeria Fissore, a coachbuilder from my hometown Savigliano (one hour drive from Turin, in the north of Italy). The english pronunciation could be "Phissore" (in italian the "e" is pronunced like you read the "e" in "death")
One of my favorite videos he's ever made. Just an honest love for a true work of art. Thank you, Mr. Leno
One of my favorite cars ever, thanks Jay for taking the time to share this one.
Stay well Friend.
Jay this format is awesome! This video is awesome. So informal. It feels personal.
Thank you for continuing to produce episodes during the pandemic. You’re the only constant in an apocalypse. 😎

He gives us a break from the MSM Apocalypse Fatigue campaign.
It’s really nice taking a ride with you, under produced feels more personal, we should’ve went to In n out 🍔
Never heard of the Monteverdi. Absolutely beautiful piece of art. Thanks for the video Jay and showing us your great collection of cars.
Many thanks, Jay. I remember seeing beautiful Monteverdi cars in the R&T and C&D as a kid, and thinking, wow, they look so cool, what are they? The funny thing is that I was lucky enough to see many of the well known super exotics of the day up close at dealerships in suburban Philadelphia. But I never saw a Monteverdi, and I always wished I had. It's really nice to see such a pristine example on the road. I'm sure I'm not alone when I say thank you for keeping the faith for all of us who remember the incredible cars of that era.
It reminds me of a 240Z. I love this car that until today didn’t know existed. Thank you Jay.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who saw that.
Good old Enzo making friends and rivals everywhere he went.
So we must thank " IL COMMENDATORE "" for Monteverdis and Lamborghinis !! ! 😀

Benito M Gómez Contrary to popular belief, it’s never been confirmed if that whole spat between Ferrari and Lamborghini happened. I dunno why it’s spread around like it’s confirmed truth. It’s a plausible story imo, but we don’t know what exactly happened, if anything at all. Lamborghini’s origins are murky.
I’ve read that Bob Wallace, Lamborghini’s test driver, said it never happened, and that Lamborghini thought he could make money from this venture.

Jay, how about an episode or 12 about all the memorabilia at the garage and all art on the walls
Absolutely agree !
Thank you Jay for finding and preserving such incredible cars! Love your channel!
I sold this Monteverdi to Jay through his lawyer many years ago. It was a superlative GT hybrid. I have opened a museum for manual transmission exotic modern classics in Jacksonville Florida dedicated to cars like the Monteverdi High Speed 375S .
Thanks Jay. Made my evening in this pandemic stay at home time.
Who wouldn't like to see Harry Metcalf and Jay Leno visit each other's garage?
Harry would graciously concede that Jay's collection is probably the best private collection in the world. But l think if you got Iain Tyrell to talk Lamborghini then l would give the advantage to Iain. But Jay is passionate and knowledgable about so much and it doesn't stop at cars.
It’s subjective. If your interests are bookmarked by 60s sports cars, 80s nostalgia and the latest press cars only, then Harry, Iain and a mere fraction of Jay’s
fantastic productions will entertain and educate you; but for me Jay stands head and shoulders above all other YT enthusiasts because of the diversity and depth of his interest in all vehicles however new or old, however many wheels and however popular “in the day”. Keep up the great work all !

This is one of my favorite cars in Jay’s amazing collection. An amazing amalgamation of American and European strengths. Saw a beautiful automatic version on Sotheby’s for $320,000. Out of my price range, but one can dream...
Very cool!
European strengths are engines. American engines need huge capacity for power and are consequently dreadfully inefficient. European classics are not for proletariats but neither was/is any high end cultural token
Been watching for a while, but this is my favorite. Thank you for this and all your videos.
Love Jay's videos, always a real treat to watch.
I live in Basel and was excited when I heard the company came from here. Googled it, and the museum is 1.4km from my flat! But unfortunately now closed for good :( . The cars they did have, have gone to the Verkehrshaus der Schweiz in Lucerne. O well. Great looking cars though.
Thats a pity. Verkehrshaus is an amazing museum though :)
I love these videos they're so calm and peaceful.
Jay, these self made videos are great! Your enthusiasm for these cars comes through. Thank you for sharing your collection.
