I have to say I like both versions, I've never heard the older one but those strings at the beginning are just awesome! Plus the wallpapers/pictures... Nicely combined ^^
the music for the air combat really is outstanding, the whole setpiece of watching a radar screen is really well done in tone and aesthetic. Compared to X-com: ufo defense 1994, they really lived up to legacy and improved upon this feature.
Has a very "no guts, no glory" feel to it. I have the most recent build version's theme and love it. This makes me want to fly a real F-16 doing strafe maneuvers, inverting, dodging missiles, and defending the planet Earth shooting down UFO's heroically from the skies.
I feel like combat songs never quite fit air combat, it always has drums and a lot of bass, because yk, gunshots and explosions, but in air combat the first explosion is usually the last as well, so punchy instruments don't quite fit. Now this, THIS fits it just perfect. It has the energy of a combat song, but instead of being punchy and with a lot of drums, the bass is made by strings, which do capture the movement of aircraft, long turns in a fight, fast flybys, and the continuous mobility of the aircraft. This is an underrated gem. Let's hope we'll get the same, or even better, from Xenonauts 2.
Hi, thanks for the kind comment. I always try to give a different touch to my tracks in regards to mainstream games or soundtracks in general. Why sound like all the others when you can give a different touch ? I'm glad you like the feel of AC1. I hope you'll enjoy the soundtrack of Xenonauts 2. Air Combat 2 was quite hard to compose in regards to the first one, because it seems many people loved the first one so much... I had a little pressure, ha ha...
@@aleksiaubrycarlson Hello! It's been quite a while, an I just got my hands on Xenonauts 2. And I have to say, great job with Air Combat 2! It has a much more different feel to it, yet keeps that high-speed adrenaline from Air Combat 1 AC1 has a feeling of an UFO interception, "We have just made contact! And we have no idea what we're fighting against", while AC2 has a feeling of "chasing a target", "We know exactly what you are, and we're gonna make it *your* problem", which overall matches what I've felt from the game dialogue so far Again, amazing job with the track, my favorite by far and on par with the first one! (Even though I'll always have a little bias towards AC1, I'll be honest haha) Eagerly waiting for the tracks to be released separately!
the game where it is harder to harpoon the whales than net up the fishes (except for flesh eating piranhas and psychic freaks)... i don't know i may be wrong
+SuperGoliath56 I find it much harder to fight ground troops than to shoot down UFO's. But that's because I'm kinda horrible at turn-based, RNG games. At least late game, I'm pretty bad. Early game is pretty easy, just largely repetitive.
Mjr.Bleeder Its been so long since I last played the original XCOM: UFO Defense. So I can't really tell if Xenonauts had more stuff to research or not. All I can say about Xenonauts is it had good pacing with technology if you were downing UFOs and surviving to scavenge them. (I had a problem with landing ships mid-game, so many troops!)
Xenonauts took the time to craft a backstory to each research project and explain the reason each project unlocked what it did. The newer XCOMs are more like "Yeah, we finished this, so now you get this loosely related item available for manufacture. Also, this random, unrelated project is now instant."
@@phoenixmarktwo Yep, plus I really love that humans weren't just copy catting aliens and calling it a day. They used what they've learned as foundation and developed their own specialist technologies which (like MAG weapons or power armours) turned out to be on par with the alien's technology. Humans understood and adapted in such a short time.

Both, but this one has more of a ominous vibe, It’s a great mix between badass fighting but also a fight of your enemy that you don’t know, the one the remake and original failed to achieve

It's a site that loops any UA-cam video infinity so you won't have to reset it after 10 hours.
UA-cam has it's own loop feature at this point.
Right click and press the loop button.
