The sparrows are semi-active homing. You have to leave the radar on and keep roughly heading towards the target before turning away. Every time you 'cease fire ' or RTB it breaks the radar lock and your missiles self destruct.
I've played with this some and that isn't always the case. As long as the missile is close 5-6 miles from the target (for sparrow) they will acquire the target.
@johnmumford76 okay, I guess the game is a little forgiving. It looks like a fun game to play. I've been playing Harpoon and then CMNO since the mid-90s
3:12 I'd say the radars on the Nimitz are unecessary when you have E2s going up. They aren't going to have any benefit when you will soon have a radar sitting at FL347 with a much better range. But then again, it's not like the Japanese are any threat to the ship, even if they actually picked up on the emissions 8:20 that's because you only told Fast Eagle 1-2 to go to the trawler. You have to either tell the flight lead(FE1-1) where to go, or use the formation orders by right clicking, for the entire formation to move.
Hey... so I've noticed that the game seems to take into account altitude and attitude when calculating missile ranges. So if you have your CAP flying at angels 10,000 the range of their Phoenix is going to be significantly increased.
I've been impressed by this game tries to create verisimilitude. Real life tactics are often applicable in Sea Power. I'd recommend checking out Growling SIdewinder's breakdown of BVR dogfighting: ua-cam.com/video/sPHJe0mjstc/v-deo.html
Also... the blue ring on the map is the estimate of how much fuel or range your plane has. Once you go past that point the plane will RTB automatically.

This was more enjoyable to watch than the actual movie.
those 'containers' are the life rafts, aint they?
i think your right.
@@brokenmonkeygamers Nope they are BBQ Sauce canisters.
@@baghupapanray4777 And they burst upon being thrown into the sea, so you just gotta scoop the mixture up, and ta da! Instant BBQ sauce

The names on the plane are characters from the movie Dr Strangelove
The RA5C only took recon photos that is the pod underneath great video enjoy watching them
I added the Moskvas as a stand-in for the Japanese carriers. The other carriers in-game were to well armed to play a WW2 ship.

The containers on the sides have inflatable lifeboats inside with survival supplies.
Sparrows track 1 target at a time, unlike Fox3 missiles
