@@YukarisGearReviews They'd actually be pretty perfect! They were originally built for the US Navy, and based on a class of 95-foot cutters used by the USCG.
The maneuver fighters do when passing a target - they dive down - at low altitude it makes them crash into the ground or water. It seems AI does not take into account their own altitude before doing that maneuver.
Ironically, my grandfather actually served on the Pratt. He’s told me about some anti-drug ops he did against ships at least so this little fictional scenario may include him as the captain downing those planes! (I forget if he was captain while on the Pratt or only when he moved to Voge)

Would be cool if in certain scenarios, we already have the identify system, if we could engage in negotiations or communications with potentially hostile vessels / neutral vessels
I was going to create a comment regarding that. The pilot shot down an aircraft that was over Cuba, in Cuban airspace. That would be considered a “hostile” act by the Cuban government and would quite likely result in some nasty proclamations in the United Nations being made against the US. The US government would also likely be compelled to reimburse the plane’s owner the cost along with damages to the pilot (and any passenger’s next of kin. ;-) It does look like a nicely thought out mod, one that was out of the box.
Just because it came up I want to mention that as a general rule aircraft can only engage with one missile type at a time if guidance is involved- even for heatseakers like AIM-9s the standard way of 'cue-ing' the missile onto a target is with the radar. NATO was keenly aware of the "but what if I have lots of targets but not lots of planes?" issue and that's pretty much what the more advanced active radar homing missiles are for starting with the AIM-54 where you can shoot up to six targets at once with an F-14 using the "Track While Scan" mode. The air force didn't really get this capability until the AIM-120 AMRAAM came online (after many delays) so it might be outside the scope of the game right now, even though F-15Cs were physically capable of performing TWS. It's worth keeping in mind there are exceptions and caveats though- while most aircraft (and none I can think of) will not actually let you lock and fire a heatseaker *without* disturbing the radar/guidance for a semi active missile some russian aircraft can in theory launch their long range heatseakers first then switch to a SARH missile and shoot that second at a different target in pretty quick sucsession (though of course at that point the argument is why not just keep using your longer range heatseakers on seprate targets)
That eagle crashing into the water reminds me of War On The Sea where you can order your ship to turn some of the smaller ships could heel over and sink themselves trying to do the turn too sharply.
I remember the old game Pacific Storm. I can't tell you how many planes I lost in game due to pilots flying straight and level, in daytime visual meteorological conditions, into the side of a mountain.
Aircraft AI in general is pretty abysmal. Head on intercepts with mid to long range missiles seem to go alright but anything after the merge is like herding cats.
@@frankholub4673 I basically try to avoid the merge completely. when I've used the Orell, I've had the Migs use the IR Aphid, then hit the deck and turn cold and book it.

The F-15 engaging the business jet at 18:42 is painful to watch. The AI sure needs some more tweaking. In the end Stealth17 had to use a ship-fired missile to shoot down this business jet because the F15 couldn't get it with its guns.
hey man, not sure if you gonna see this @stealth17 gaming but I really love your channel man, i found it about a year back and just binge watch the videos sometimes you are hands down my favorite youtuber, and your little quips when youre mad instead of swearing and cussing but the funny stuff you say is hilarious, keep going man youre great
This scenario is largely based on "Clear and Present Danger" by Tom Clancy, isn't it? BTW love it how you're flying in Cuban airspace with zero reaction from AA...
I understand the game is in early release but I would hope that national borders would be factored in. Crossing into Cuban airspace to shootdown a suspect drug airplane might create diplomatic problems, maybe even Cuban fighters appearing to fight off the imperial F15.

And in the follow-up scenario, Pablo Escobar has acquired some Mig-29s and a few batteries of S-300!
I mean, he could have done that if he wanted to.
think that was the plot for one of the seasons of The Last Ships. I think they also stole a couple battleships.
Even several submarines for smuggling illegal drugs!
@陈元-e3f but I doubt they had torpedos
@@rlosable Definitely not!
Water confirmed, sir! Swimming back to base now!
I can imagine the post mission report:
So you lost an F-15....
Yes sir
Against unarmed bizjets...
Absolutely correct, sir
Yeah I don't know how they're going to explain that one
The F15 Pilot decided to switch to ASW.
it was heard of smuggling in submarines :D
hmmm stall caused by impatient gamer ... :D x
Or it was feeling hot and wanted to cool off with a dip in the sea lol
For missions like these, I hope we get US coast guard assets.
Definitely!
PGM-39 is slightly ahistorical but definitely would count as a patrol boat, it's a South Vietnamese flagged ship.

"Are we under attack, Captain?"
"No, it think they just REALLY hate drugs, sir!"
Would be cool if their was a no fly zone for the American that if they breached it they would engage Cuban migs.

Important to note is that you need a active radio with the unit selected that is in range to communicate with the track you wish to identify.
Do you mean that if a ship is on EMCON, it won't communicate with the track even if you ask for identification?
That F-15 literally took a swim!!😭😂
Impressed by scenario, it’s neat the depth this game has
Played this scenario as well and one of my F15's also dived into the water.
Those drugrunning bizjets have advanced flight control jamming technology. The pinnacle of cyberwarfare, didn't you know 🤪

Honoring Cuban airspace, Nuts to that.

Close to Cuba it would be nice to a have a visual on boundaries.
Cartels be like: They can't kill us all!
Your F-15 deciced he wanted to get into naval aviation
There are a few missions just like this back in Fleet Command…
Everytime i play this mission at least one F-15 decides to lawn dart into the water.
Bit silly that the F-15 was doing 1000 knots trying to do a gun run

Wouldn’t make sense for smugglers to fly in formation. They should be far away from each other.
Add a carrier for the U.S. and Cuban Mig 23s
Fidel Castro is having a very heated discussion with the general in charge of the air force right now
Just say no. With lots of AMRAAMs.
I wonder if it’s as effective as the actual War On Drug?
Happend to me also in this mission if you go 1000 feet they will crash in water had to finish them with ship
Yeah, who cares about Cuban airspace. I would love a Cuban Sandwich though
Heh, that was just fun.
bring on the narco subs

Go to the Steam workshop

15:37 did you shoot down a airliner? Civilian? track 7032
No the smuggling aircraft was classified as a hostile airliner. Probably because it was a bizjet or a Cessna
Foreign airspace be damned!
Hey Stealth, I just have a small question. Will you still play the mission I created, Operation Deeplock?
Haven't had time yet. I get 3-5 scenarios sent to me every single day. I have to pick and choose. What's the synopsis for your scenario?
Hey stealth are you and your friends going to play the new warno dlc
Not likely no
you dont need to have a unit selected to request a unit identify itself
