It's a shame that ICM missed the opportunity to release a new Bf 109F in 1/48. The 109 that comes with this kit suffers from many inaccuracies and defects. The detail on the lower wing is very crude, the fuselage cross-section is slightly wrong, the tail surfaces are so thin that they are almost transparent, the parts which make the nose section don't fit that well, the spinner is undersized, and the propeller's shape is completely wrong. I have this 109 and didn't built it because I was disappointed by what I perceived as very poor quality.
I bought the Zvezda Bf 109F after that, which is everything the ICM is not. The problem with the Zvezda kit is that it is over engineered; some parts, like the underwing panels, are a 100% guaranteed source of trouble (just try to glue the panels, blend them to the wing, and preserve the panel lines and rivets... it's just not possible).
One Bf 109F which is easy to build is the Hasegawa, but it is very hard to find nowadays. I have yet to buy the Eduard kit in my own personal quest to build the perfect Bf 109F, a plane which was, in my opinion, the best and most beautiful version of the famous German fighter.
P.S.: If there's a manufacturer reading this, please take this suggestion seriously. There is no Bf 109F in the market which is accurate, detailed, and easy to build. A perfect Bf 109F would be like "a license to print money" as they say.
yeah, this is quite old kit, soooo...
Well, who knows, maybe they will cooperate with Eduard some time in the future :)
@@dsv Hopefully they'll do that, but in the meantime, the modeler can build an accurate Mistel on its own, using any of the other Bf 109Fs on the market. But criticism aside, this Mistel kit is good value for the money, as it includes all parts for the Ju 88A-4 and A-5 variants, including different clear parts and underwing gondolas
