I have a 96 425 that has a dash panel that needs restoration, and this video should help me get it back into shape. The glass wasn’t broken, but had come unglued and has apparently been that way for a while ( recently got it with a very worn engine that I’m in the process of overhauling ). The glass is scratched up and the instrument panel was covered with so much dust and dirt that it couldn’t be read. After cleaning the dirt away, I saw that it was sun faded as well. I really appreciate the tip about using Armor All. Will have to try that. Hopefully mine will look as good as yours when I’m done!
I really love all of your helpful videos. I just bought a John Deere 445 (800 hours from the original owner) and love it. However, there is dirt inside of the lens on the dashboard. Your video does not show how to remove the lens from the plastic structure around it. It looks like there are two clips at the top and I am afraid of putting too much pressure on them so that I don't break something. Could you instruct me step by step to remove the lens so that I could remove the dirt? Thanks so much in advance. Greg in Minneapoiis.
Problem with a plexiglass is this going to scratch really easy just wiping dirt off of it's going to scratch it pretty quick and easy. Love your videos by the way.
Glad you like the videos! I've been using the 445 with repaired dash for several months and, so far, the plexiglass has been fine and dash still looks great.
Great! And just so you know that repair was made more than two years ago and the dash panel still looks great, even though my 445 spends most of the time outside.
I have a newer X750 that has some type of residue film on the inside of the dash lens after servicing by the JD dealer. Do you think the dash can be disassembled so I can clean the lens without damaging the dash assembly?
If it is anything like the 445/425 instrument cluster, you should be able to lift the unit out of the dash and unscrew the bezel/glass from the back for cleaning.
I just had my shield was broken. Now I know how to fix it.Thank You
