Alec hello from Kansas! I am a 50 year old non blacksmith viewer. I want to complement you on your editing. I love the choreography of hammer strikes to the beat of the music. I am sure Jamie (spelling may be wrong sorry) has brought some skill with him but your eye and ear for good videos is amazing. One of the reasons I watch is the clean crisp editing and creation of your videos. I truly feel you are an artist in many disciplines. Thanks for quality videos and your willingness to spend the capital to produce family friendly videos. I wish you all the success in the future.
I’m a disabled vet. favorite part of my day is smoking a little, then watching Alec smack some Damascus. The positive vibes, work ethic, editing & music.. everything is just awesome man. Thanks for the daily reminder to be awesome and creative.
Hi Alec, I have the feeling you like to forge weapons, so what about a ball-and-chain flail? I would love to see you forge weld the chain, and forging a ball is quite a challenge too. Love your work btw!
I can't help but to have an issue with the hammers. I mean dude made his kids hammers. Those are special. Kind of feel like Alec muscled in on that. I feel like they could have done what he wanted had Alec not made it about HIS hammers. I dunno, if dude is happy then that is all that matters.
Alec, I have a small request, if possible, could you leave the sound of the hammer in once in a while? The music is cool and all but the sound of the hammer on steel is great music in its' own right. Keep up the good work!
OneEyedJack01 there's a reason no one makes damascus without a power hammer. For him to make a piece large enough for a hockey stick blade would be near impossible to do w/o a power hammer. Also, investing all that time into something that may fail because of insufficient forging force, wouldn't be very smart.
We used lead pucks growing up to strengthen our handling and wrist shots. If you can accurately shoot that high left or right, going back to a normal puck yields amazing results. I just finished making eight 2.5 lb steel pucks.
Mike seems such a nice guy, would like to see him start a channel and watch him improve his blacksmithing skills as his channel grows, would be cool. And maybe he could make himself that hockey stick blade!
Absolutely amazing videography for daily post! It keeps getting better every time! I love the slow mo and macro/up close shots of the process and products.
Inspired by you, I went to my first blacksmithing class today and made tongs. I have a whole new level of respect for what you do. Keep up the good work!
That was amazing was looking forward to the Damascus Hockey Stick Blade but the Puck came out so BEAUTIFULLY was definitely worth watching!! Would be great to see a vid of Mike playing hockey with the Puck. Mike- Good luck with the Twins and trying to find a power hammer!!
Alec, the last few vids with Mike have been some of the coolest videos I have watched in a long time. Nice touch on doing the hammers for the twins, that puck and that pattern were amazing! I would love to make some Damascus one day and make my own knife from it, may have to enter the next competition!
Alec, you lucked out choosing Mike`s video. You both were awesome. Teach the twins to dangle with that puck and an nhl dynasty awaits🤑 Very entertaining videos, gentlemen!
That is a beautiful piece of pattern welding. I just wanted to mention to you that you can bring out a great deal more of the chatoyance (tiger's eye look) in pattern welding if you do this: When removing the oxides from the etching (make sure the base polish is at least 800 grit), remove the oxides from each etch with loose rotten stone and 0000 steel wool. Do this 4 times or so. This will leave you some relief in the etching, and the rotten stone does not flatten the hard parts. It leaves the steel with a slightly-matted shine, and reveals the pattern quite well. You will be amazed at this trick. Give it a shot. I make pattern welded swords, and this is what I use.
Alec ik it sounds very weird however i think a good project would be to make all 4 golden weapons in damascus or just regular steel from the Lego TV series Ninjago. the weapons include a sythe, a kind of katana sword, (2) 3 pronged ninja stars and a set of nunchucks. PS. luv ur vids man keep it up
The pattern on that Damascus is out of this world. What a great collaboration! Also thanks for keeping the mic on for some of the tips you gave. Nice to see one of us good midwestern boys representing! I’m in Wisconsin which borders MN.
If you ever use that way of stacking the billet again it should be forever know as the Mike stacking method. I think Mike has some really good natural skill.
hey alec! I am fairly new to the channel but I am loving your enthusiasm and love of the craft! so keep up the great videos and I hope to see you soon!
Hey Alec, fantastic video as always. Have you ever considered doing a video about setting up a workshop, ie.anvil choice and mounting, forge building etc.
Hey alec just a guy from Australia and you my friend you have completly fallen in love with what you do so ive decided im actually going to try blacksmithing for myself because it looks so amazing, so i want to thank you so much because you are my insperation
Alec you should make some more of the jelly roll Damascus that you made in one of your older videos the patterns that you get from it are super cool and interesting!!!!
I think it would be awesome to see you make a round billet of damascus steel and turn something cool out of it on your lathe. Or make a sqaure damascus billet and mill something awesome !!!!
Alec, a suggestion for a future billet of Demascus. Once drawn out to a long square take and heat and then twist it like a candy cane and then when cutting and restacking try some new patterns ??
Wow! Grew up playing hockey my whole life so I absolutely love this! Your videos are truly top notch and I enjoy watching every last minute of them. Keep up the great work bud!

kamurray67 boring
Trashcan 666 Nope, just you
kamurray67 spot on!
Trashcan 666 are you 15 years old and trolling me or were you just born being a penis!
Clearly Trashcan is Trash.
Make a damascus glasses frame for your glasses
Pietr Cool idea but it could be too heavy haha
Could do a mokume pair of glasses, still a little heavy but would be cool
Dan Hinchliffe nah not if he made it thin enough
There is a dude who hand makes wooden frames on this here internet thingy, they are ridiculously expensive but amazing to see.
Pietr RAD IDEA!
Now you owe Mike a hockey stick blade! He seems like a great guy.
Mike should have had him do Damascus skate blades
Greg Ward I agree but the down side would be the potential for rust from the high carbon steel in the billet
As a Canadian, "Just practicing my dangles" made me laugh so hard I actually started crying.
He said that literally the exact same time I read your comment
I’m a disabled vet. favorite part of my day is smoking a little, then watching Alec smack some Damascus. The positive vibes, work ethic, editing & music.. everything is just awesome man. Thanks for the daily reminder to be awesome and creative.
One of the very few UA-camrs who doesn't have click bait! Thank you!😊👏🏻
Finish the stick and send it after him! Make sure you harden it in such a way that it's springy, not malleable or brittle so he can actually use it.
Still do the stick blade and just send it off.
he did look disappointed. not like he left empty handed....
I agree! Was really looking forward to seeing the hockey blade. I hope he still makes one.
damn that blade woulda killed
I will happily sponsor the stick bland for the guy. i too feel he should get one to match his puck
all of the above...or below....please if u get time make the blade I was super pumped to see that (hearts in eyes emoji!)
Hi Alec, I have the feeling you like to forge weapons, so what about a ball-and-chain flail? I would love to see you forge weld the chain, and forging a ball is quite a challenge too. Love your work btw!
Or make a big billet of Canister Damascus using chain as the primary metal to make the flail ball! That would be dope too!!!
good idea
Yes
Maybe you could make the hockey stick blade after Mike goes home?
The Back Channel yeah I kind of feel like Alec blue-balled poor mike
We Minnesotans have mastered the art of passive-aggressiveness and bottled emotion. He's definitely shedding some tears.
I can't help but to have an issue with the hammers. I mean dude made his kids hammers. Those are special. Kind of feel like Alec muscled in on that. I feel like they could have done what he wanted had Alec not made it about HIS hammers. I dunno, if dude is happy then that is all that matters.
Beniled thought they were making the hammers while the billet for the blade was annealing?
I agree mike needs his damascus hockey stick!
I really want to see a Damascus steele hockey stick blade now, you should make it and send it to him
Many comments have said, please do the hockey blade for him as a gift. The. Two of you were great together. Excellent video as always
'Just practicing my dangles' BEST LINE EVER!!!!!! Canadian approved!!!!
You could not have picked a nicer guy to win the competition. And he is really enjoying himself. Really fun to watch!
Nice puck and all but I do have to say I am a bit disappointed in not seeing the blade made. I would love to see a damascus stick blade in the future.
IRoll1s me too....
Alec, I have a small request, if possible, could you leave the sound of the hammer in once in a while? The music is cool and all but the sound of the hammer on steel is great music in its' own right. Keep up the good work!
daemonhat d
Awesome. How about sending him a damascus billet so he can make his own hockey stick blade.
Teach a man to fish and he can make his own billet. ;-)
OneEyedJack01 there's a reason no one makes damascus without a power hammer. For him to make a piece large enough for a hockey stick blade would be near impossible to do w/o a power hammer. Also, investing all that time into something that may fail because of insufficient forging force, wouldn't be very smart.
That sounds like a great idea
Andrew Delashaw what if Mike is a power hammer
@@xenonram I have always been curious about maybe a treadle hammer.
I don't want to play Goalie with a steel puck on the ice.
theallseeingmaster and I wouldn't wanna shoot, my slapshot would go from 85 to Like 30 mph, and probably break my stick lol
Imagine if it was used in a real game!!
We used lead pucks growing up to strengthen our handling and wrist shots. If you can accurately shoot that high left or right, going back to a normal puck yields amazing results.
I just finished making eight 2.5 lb steel pucks.
True but that’s so cool tho
Enjoyed Mike's projects take shape, thanks for sharing.
Mike seems such a nice guy, would like to see him start a channel and watch him improve his blacksmithing skills as his channel grows, would be cool. And maybe he could make himself that hockey stick blade!
What a dream for any blacksmith to get to hang out with you for a few days. Your recent videos have all been outstanding. Keep up the great work.
Absolutely amazing videography for daily post! It keeps getting better every time! I love the slow mo and macro/up close shots of the process and products.
I love how the power hammer hits on the beat of whatever song is playing its an awesome touch
I've never seen anyone forge a cylinder before... well, before today. Looks like Mike might be looking for his own power hammer when he gets home.
and TIG welder too.
Can we get this guy back, he's giving you all sorts of ideas to work with and good fun to watch.
Hell yeah, blacksmithing and hockey! My two faves.
That's a very very cool thing you've done team Steele, giving your time, materials and skill to a supporter. hats off to you guys.
‘Holy puck’ alec & mike that thing is amazing! Really cool pair of square circle hammers for your twins too
Inspired by you, I went to my first blacksmithing class today and made tongs. I have a whole new level of respect for what you do. Keep up the good work!
I really wanted to see a Damascus hockey stick blade!!!
You should eventually make the hockey stick blade
American ii agree
That was soooo cool that he was able to hang out with you.. awesome!!
Mike seems like such a great guy. Well deserving of the win I think! Hope you enjoyed yourself Mike!
Jammin’ tunes! I have loved the era of ‘10-30’s style jazz my whole life.
You should make a hockey blade as your next project and send it to him.
"just practicing my dangles" lmaoo
That was amazing was looking forward to the Damascus Hockey Stick Blade but the Puck came out so BEAUTIFULLY was definitely worth watching!!
Would be great to see a vid of Mike playing hockey with the Puck.
Mike- Good luck with the Twins and trying to find a power hammer!!
Great video today, my favorite part was the slow motion work on the hammers at the anvil.
Alec, the last few vids with Mike have been some of the coolest videos I have watched in a long time. Nice touch on doing the hammers for the twins, that puck and that pattern were amazing!
I would love to make some Damascus one day and make my own knife from it, may have to enter the next competition!
That pattern was b-e-a-utiful!
that design was spectacular!!
Aww man, that hockey blade would have been amazing...
Music was really good this episode. An looks like ur new mate was having a great time, no window will be safe with that puck
A Damascus steel fish, like a rainbow trout, would be a challenging project.
It's hard forging a chunk of metal in to a cylinder and get it perfectly round with out machining/ lathing it. Excellent job.
Hey Alec I'm a 16 years old boy from the Netherlands and I love your videos.
Loving the dangles!!
Alec, you lucked out choosing Mike`s video. You both were awesome. Teach the twins to dangle with that puck and an nhl dynasty awaits🤑 Very entertaining videos, gentlemen!
We need a video of Mike playing with the puck on the ice when he gets home.
Could you do a video on feather Damascus?
That puck is my favorite pattern yet
I love seeing people from Minnesota show up in random videos. Cool stuff man keep up the great work!
So neat! Mike is a lucky but very creative guy.

the pattern looks absolutely wicked. nice job.
What do I do on my birthday? Watch some Alec Steele, of course! Great content. Keep it coming!
Austin Holmes Happy Birthday !
Happy Birthday Austin.
Happy Birthday Austin. Have a good one
happy bday
happy birthday bro!
You should try some Japanese water forging to blow off the scale
Love the videos Alec! came in for a break from making my first pair of tongs and got the notification! Keep up the great work!

Or SanMai Damascus scissors?
BADASS. All the way around, just amazing. Well done. Seriously, well done
Damascus, tig welding. Sounds like good combo for canister Damascus
the editing is exquisite
Haha twin A and twin B. Keep the first letters for each name. They’ll stay twin A&B forever haha
Alexander and Bobby? or Allison and Brittany?
Ahab and Boris.
I miss how much music you use to have! This video brought me back. 😊
Close ups of the pattern are great
When that steel puck hits the ice it will give all new meaning to the term "freezing the puck"
Hey Alec, fantastic video as always. Have you ever considered doing a video about setting up a workshop, ie.anvil choice and mounting, forge building etc.
make the hockey blade anyway and send it to him in Minnesota after he's gone.
Lots of fun, keep your stick on the ice. Thanks
Hey alec just a guy from Australia and you my friend you have completly fallen in love with what you do so ive decided im actually going to try blacksmithing for myself because it looks so amazing, so i want to thank you so much because you are my insperation
I think you should make a potable blacksmith shop and travel around making things at festivals etc and film it all.
Not quite first but I love this chanel, thanks Alec, you always share so much awesomenessessness.....ness... Holy moly......it's FANTASTIC 😀
Hahahahaha 😂😂😂 “just practicing my dangles” in the most Canadian/ northern US accent I have ever heard that was great
Alec you should make some more of the jelly roll Damascus that you made in one of your older videos the patterns that you get from it are super cool and interesting!!!!
some days I tune in just to hear the music. The man (or his media staff) have good taste
I think it would be awesome to see you make a round billet of damascus steel and turn something cool out of it on your lathe. Or make a sqaure damascus billet and mill something awesome !!!!
The only thing that could make that puck better looking is having it faced, chamfered and rounded of in a metal lathe. Great video!
ummmm..... what happened to the belt buckle, Alec?? hahahh
Wooo Minnesota represent! - Fellow Minnesotan
Alec, a suggestion for a future billet of Demascus. Once drawn out to a long square take and heat and then twist it like a candy cane and then when cutting and restacking try some new patterns ??
your videos are just so entertaining to watch and you give so much information for beginners to learn from...def buying some shirts!
Wow! Grew up playing hockey my whole life so I absolutely love this! Your videos are truly top notch and I enjoy watching every last minute of them. Keep up the great work bud!
the video shots are totally awesome Alec
Outstanding camera work!
Awesome Video Alec! Congratulations Mike!!!
Love the Swing Music starting at 11:38
Wow so simple but do beautiful. A hockey puck 😂 genius.
You should make a Damascus steel fountain pen tip!!!!
Hell yeah! Minnesota for the effin win! CCM for life!
Sonofabicycle, Minnesota for the win! We are everywhere.
Again loving the power hammer timing with the music. Also Alec have another T-shirt contest so I can meet you.
For just a hunk of metal that looks pretty cool I personally would play with it for obvious reasons
Alec the comments have gone wild, you must make Mike the blade now to keep your reputation among your subscribers! Love from South Yorkshire.
I love the editing Jamie!
Props to the editor
That patter was amazing. You should try it on a double sided axe. It would be awesome. Love watching keep pounding.
