  • Continuing our journey in Northern Japan's Tohoku region, we venture into Iwate prefecture to witness the aftermath of the devastation 2011 Tsuanmi that hit this area. Despite it being already 10 years since the disaster, the aftermath is still very visible, with vast patches of landscape being completely empty and desolate.
Recently, a new museum was also built to commemorate the tsunami and showcase how it can be better dealt with in the future: The Iwate Prefecture Tsunami Memorial Museum.
Join us on this journey through a landscape that shows how an entire region can be affected by nature.

Thank you for sharing this. I will never have the chance to see it myself. I'm glad to see this memorial exists. So many lives lost. We need to study and appreciate the power of these natural forces, and learn together how to minimize future harm. A wealthy nation like Japan, though it has been brutally hit with disasters, is in the position to use these tragedies to educate the world.
