"What are you doing on MY tractor?" I snorted Diet Coke out my nose, so thanks for that. As the owner of an old house myself, I appreciate Brakes skills with the sander! It really warms my heart to see Archie and Luna bounding through the tall grass. You two are always positive and cheerful, and that just makes my day. Here in the US, our walls are typically sheetrock, or if it's an old house like mine, plaster and lath. Yours seem to be concrete, both in France and the Aunt's home in the Netherlands. Is that the norm? That certainly makes plumbing and wiring a lot more difficult and time consuming, but makes it a far more durable structure. No wonder you have buildings that are centuries old; you build Stonehenge with a roof! Big love from Big D (Dallas, Texas, USA)!
The potatoes are looking good. I agree with the follower that says it is called "hilling." You should do it multiple times--like after you've pulled weeds or worked the soil between the rows. Also, I don't know if you applied any fertilizer when you planted them but doing so will yield a larger crop. You could actually sprinkle some fertilizer next to the plants (not right on them) and then hill them up again. Hope you have a good harvest!
I love you guys 😊❤ Nothing makes me smile more than watching your innocent responses to each other’s remarks. I watch several European home remodeling blogs but none give me as much joy as watching Vangaze. I live in Palm Springs California so it hard to find the charm that France offers. Keep up the good work!
Ah thanks so much for all the kind words. I know Palm Springs from a dutch photographer. He made amazing photos over there. (Erwin Olaf). Have a great weekend!
Hello from Illinois, USA! I started following your vlog 2 months ago and have watched all the previous episodes. You are both such hard working young men with lots of skills. It is wonderful to hear you say "our daughter " and not just the baby, you are going to be really great fathers. I love to watch Archie and Luna. What breed of dog are they? I am an 80 year old woman, I live in a small town, my house is 104 yrs old. I wish I had the energy and skills you both have to fix the things that need fixing. I look forward to each new vlog and seeing your home coming together. Your love and respect for each other is very evident. Blessings to you and Simon's parents.🤗❤
The tractor will be very helpful around the yard. Bram’s welder is already paying for itself in repairs to equipment and tools. I love the big tiles you are using in the bathroom. I want to renovate my bathrooms at some point and plan to use large tiles also because the bathroom ends up with much less grout lines that have to be cleaned. Do you think you will buy a some sort of cart for the tractor at some point so you can haul wood and other items, it would save a lot of trips back and forth with the wheelbarrow.
4:08 that is very cute. You want to want to have large mounds. Imagine a plant on a mound the size of a sack of potatoes. Then in fall when the plant lays down the potatoes are easy to harvest because they aren't underground. Also a potato will not grow well in wet soil so water will run off of a mount. Another problem with potatoes sometimes is a fungus that can live in the soil and you may have to remove the soil to completely stop the fungus from returning. If that happens you will need to scoop up the mounds and treat the ground before building new mounds.
Enjoyed your video as always, hard workers but always with a smile. Lost my husband 2 years ago so I miss taking walks like you two were doing. The house and garden are going to be beautiful. From Wisconsin
Another amazing episode. You boys are so entertaining and of course those pups, those pups make my heart melt. Again, from Dallas, Texas ! See you soon. 😊❤😊
Great job on those walls and floors 👏. Love watching your progress on the farm and the mower looks great 👍. Hope you have a great weekend and week 👏👍🇨🇦💕🌈🌈
There are many aspects of your vlogs I like quite a lot. But the best is your outstanding editing. You are both masters at content but your editing is beyond superior. Thank you for that and have a terrific week. DA (Vancouver, WA - USA)
Over 5k subscribers! Well done and we’ll deserved! Your vlogs are great. I’ve been a fan since van! (the first home build - the van). You guys are great…you work so well together! A little story… the other day, while driving to an area to take our dog for a walk, I guess I was singing a song to myself and did not know it…my partner asked, what was I singing…realized I was singing your theme song! Thanks again guys for keeping all of us with you on your life journeys ! See you next week….😊
Hey guys, watching in the UK. I’m off work sick and spent the past four days watching all your vlogs! Really enjoyed them. Love the new house and your all working so hard it’s going to be beautiful 😁 looking forward to next weeks vlog
I love watching you two working together to make a home. I think that you two are great workers as I do not have the skill or the ambition to fix an older house. It is fascinating to see how much you have already accomplished. Wishing you guys all the best.
You really are making good progress on the renovation. Simon, are all those plants in the garden potato plants? If so, you can set up a vegetable stand and sell potatoes by the road. You'll be inundated with potatoes!! Good job fencing the fruit trees . I love to see the dogs frolicking around in the fields. Love watching Luna prancing like a deer. Surprised that Archie doesn't do that. And .......ah..... the faithful bagette. Have a great week!!
Thanks so much! Haha yeah we've got a lot of potatoes but it's easy to store them for a pretty long time so I hope we can use them all ourselves! Haha Archie does it just now and then. Luna jumps all day long haha. Have a great weekend!
It's called 'earthing up' the potatoes. It's important to do as it prevents light getting to the tubers; with light, the potatoes will turn green... and green potatoes are poisonous! The potato, and tomato, are members of the nightshade family of plants. I love your vlog. You guys are an awesome inspiration... I feel humbled everything I watch! ❤
I forgot to tell you where I'm from last week so I'll tell you now. I live in South Australia. About an hour south of the capitol city of Adelaide. I'm really enjoying your videos. You two are so cute together.
It’s all coming together so well. Very excited for you! I hope the underfloor heating is working properly now. Eager to see what color you paint the office & other rooms…
Hi you two, We are an older gay couple from near San Diego. We recently discovered your vlog, and are catching up watching and "liking" your earlier videos. You are both adorable. Keep up your good work. Very inspiring!
Love your vlog (watching here in NYC). I was raised in the country & can relate to everything that you are doing. and experiencing. We had a cold cellar (unheated basement room) where the potatoes (dug by me), if kept dry, cool & in the dark, will keep all winter. 😉
The skill set between th3 two of you is amazing. You are "babes in the woods" now, in living the rural life, but you are going to be very solid on your little farm.
another busy week.. in the UK we call it earthing up the potatoes you can use the soil inbetween the rows for this... the floors look great looking forward to see them finished and the walls.. very dusty job but great progress..... Have a great weekend.. Robb Torremolinos Spain xxxx
Hi Robb, thanks so much. It's funny how everybody calls it differently but everyone does it, 'earthing'. I can't wait to finish the floor! Have a great weekend! Take care.
You boys are wonderful: so laid back and easy going. Challenges are met with good humor and a can do attitude. Meanwhile, Archie and Luna continue to live the best life ever.
Hello, I recently discover your channel, this is so nice.
I also thought they were fencing around the fruit orchard to keep the deer out! That would be the most secure option, in my opinion. Apologetic Jim from southeast Texas. Those wooden floors will finish up beautifully!
You both have a sense of humor that helps you get through the mistakes, rough spots and do-overs that are part of any big project like yours! It's wonderful that you seem not to get discouraged when things go wrong or mistakes are made. This approach will also be helpful when you are raising your daughter, I'm sure! Best of luck to you. It's a pleasure watching your videos.
So nice to see you finishing off the details in baby’s room! Sooo much dust this week 😅 I can imagine your hands were itching to clean Simon! Always nice to see the town in all its glory too. A good week 👏
👋 Bram and Simon, and family . Another Epic video. I look forward to seeing your adventures. You are such hard worker's. There is so to do on a farm. And with the renovation, nonstop. I'm glad you didn't put off painting the tractor. Rust is the worst. I hope you have a wonderful weekend. Take care. Can't wait until your next one.🥂🍾 Bye-bye ❤❤❤
Hi ! I just discovered your channel and I'm so glad. I'm from Paris and thinking about leaving everything to start a new life in the countryside. You guys are a lovely couple, with a nice renovation/family project. Very inspiring, I will sure keep watching what's next.
We have one! but there were a lot of things on the floor that we still needed. Haha had to read that twice before I got it. Luna will new ones soon I guess haha. Take care.
You guys are amazing - the skills you are perfecting will make you incredible homeowners and farmers - just don’t forget to spend time with each other… life is very short. Great video! ❤️🏳️🌈👬
Just two words....wood filler (at least that's what we call it in America - a form of wood putty).. Enjoy watching you two as you forge ahead with you farmhouse.
The house is coming along nicely...Can't wait to see it finished. That Tractor is getting a lot of air time!! hahaha. I get it... I'm would be the same way!! hahah
Always so impressive and inspiring! You guys are amazing and I love watching your home creation!! My humble kind suggestion would be to consider eating more proteins, vegetables and fruits in place of breads. To be strong for your renovation and for your daughter - for all of her young life, remember every single thing you eat and drink becomes every single cell and fiber of your being. If you put quality high nutrient dense foods in, you will have strong bodies for yourselves and more importantly for your daughter. If on the other hand, you put poor quality low nutrient dense foods in your system, the body will decline faster as your body's ability to repair, renew and heal will decrease significantly!! Many hugs!! 🙌🙆🏻♂🌟
New subscriber...I really enjoy your channel. Is there anything you two can't do? Very impressive. As a senior citizen I could use two handy guys like you at my home in Buffalo, NY USA.
It's so nice to see how your dream is coming true. You are a loving couple, so hardworking, skillful and neat. And those puppies are so adorable. Omg. Scary about the bats!!!! Please be very careful with the snakes and the puppies. Do you have snake antivenom available? Just in case? Go ahead sweet people. You are a source of inspiration. Hugs from Argentina, so far so close.
I am 82 year old guy from Florida. My husband and I were together for 44 years before he died. I am terribly disappointed that you stopped vlogging at the end of 2023. Do you have the baby yet? Would love to see updated pictures of the farmhouse and the baby girl.
We didn't stopped vlogging! www.youtube.com/@vangaze/videos Here you can see all the videos. I think you were in the playlist of our vanlife adventure. That ended but the French house continued!
Woow, Florida, so far away! Move to France, my parents are 85 and just decided to move to France. We bought a house for them where they can live, near our (2nd) house in France. We, my husband and i (mid 50s) and our dog, live part time in France. It's very nice here.
Two things concern me this week. It worries me that you may not have enough potatoes to see you through the next 5 years 🤭, and i wonder if you ever take a few hours off to unwind? Great vlog again, very entertaining.
Haha that would be lovely but enough for 1 year would be ideal. We do take some time off but we also love the renovation work :) Thanks so much. have a great weekend!
Your family keeps growing every week - as a "Big Brother" is on the way - I can't wait to see Bram on his new toy, with Simon's approval. But at this rate, Archie and Luna are next for a new toy too. So, looking forward to their announcement next week!
I Googled; Netherlands restaurants in Florida, none here. Only a cafe in North Miami Beach. Doesn’t look like authentic cuisine. After your mention of the potatoes, I am intrigued on the cultural cuisine.
I dont know how you ever managed without that tractor 😆 Did we see all of your superdry tops in this episode, you have a lot. 👌 So what is this new mystery purchase?🧐Your episodes are always a great start to my weekend. Are there no large floor sanders available for hire there, it would make the job easier? What is this new thingy? 👍
Ohoh. I moest wel lachen hoor. Our Renovation Project! French Farmhouse. 🤣
You’re a lovely couple .. and grafting is in your nature .. your working wonders on this old farm house and when it’s all finished it will look fabulous … so guys what’s your long term plans for the farm … ? Interested fellow gay from the Uk ✌🏻
Fijn weekend!
We so enjoy your blog you guys and what a beautiful place you live in France 🇫🇷 we are in Naples, Fl. Where it is constantly humid and hot 🥵 keep it coming your blogs love ❤️ them !
I’m not sure how much protection those cages will give the deer will be able to eat the top shoots and anything that comes out at the sides . When you said you were making a fence I thought you meant you were going to surround the fruit treees But good luck I hope it works out
Haha I don’t know. We will see! Fencing it all was way too expensive so I hope this will work. The damaged trees were only damaged lower to the ground… thanks! Have a great day!
Another technique is to plant the potatoes in a trench, then cover with the soil. Don't forget to fertilize your potatoes, it's not too late. Yours look about as high as mine do that I forgot in the ground from last year.
My grandfather called it “hilling” the potatoes. I think to keep new potatoes under the ground so they grow properly, and protect s them from sunshine. I am addicted to your vlog. It’s so heartwarming. I am an old gay guy who grew up in the bad days and I am enchanted as you live your authentic selves. Edmonton, Canada
Thanks so much! It's great to have you with us. I know we are very lucky to have this freedom! I'm very grateful for that. Have a great weekend!
I think you are doing a great job with your farm, hugs from Idaho

Have a great weekend.. Robb Torremolinos Spain xxxx
Hi Robb, thanks so much. It's funny how everybody calls it differently but everyone does it, 'earthing'. I can't wait to finish the floor! Have a great weekend! Take care.
I love your property... real jewel.
Oh we love it so much! It’s perfect.
You boys are wonderful: so laid back and easy going. Challenges are met with good humor and a can do attitude. Meanwhile, Archie and Luna continue to live the best life ever.
Haha the dogs are so so happy here. Although they liked vanlife, I think they love this even more. Thanks so much. Have a great weekend!
Mix wood glue & wood sanding dust to make wood filler
Thanks! We did but we used the wrong glue the first time haha. Take care!
Hello, I recently discover your channel, this is so nice.
I also thought they were fencing around the fruit orchard to keep the deer out! That would be the most secure option, in my opinion. Apologetic Jim from southeast Texas. Those wooden floors will finish up beautifully!
Thanks so much. Doing the whole orchard was way too expensive unfortunately so we hoep for the best haha. Have a great weekend!
We try to just laugh about all the mistakes. It's not always easy but it's the best thing to do. Thanks so much and we hoep to see you next Friday!
Hi I'm from the UK and i love watching your Renovation Project
👩🌾🏡
Hi! Great to have you with us. Thanks. Have a great weekend.
So nice to see you finishing off the details in baby’s room! Sooo much dust this week 😅 I can imagine your hands were itching to clean Simon! Always nice to see the town in all its glory too. A good week 👏
The baby room is going to be very pretty :) And Monpazier too haha. Take care.
Wonderful, it is what it is! ❤u Boys!
Haha it is what it is. Thats the only way to survive a renovation. Thanks. Take care.
Have a great weekend Jeffrey & Mario
Hi Jeffrey and Mario! Thanks so much, you too! Take care.
Now you will need a small wagon to attach to the small tractor to carry tools to work the fields maybe?
Haha yeah, that's always the disadvantage when buying things like tractors. now we need a lot of attachments. Thanks. Take care.
Hi guys what a beautiful place u have and Nox will enjoy and run around with the dogs when she start walking ❤
Thanks so much, we love that we found this place! Have a lovely weekend. Take care.
Beautiful. Love your channel.
Ah thanks so much!

Dankjewel!
Always great to see you guys and see your great progress! Best wishes from Virginia, USA.
Thanks so much! Hope you have a great weekend!
Take care. Can't wait until your next one.🥂🍾
Bye-bye ❤❤❤
Hello boys, the house is looking very beautiful. Congratulations ❤
Thanks so much! We are very excited about the process of the house!

Hi ! I just discovered your channel and I'm so glad. I'm from Paris and thinking about leaving everything to start a new life in the countryside. You guys are a lovely couple, with a nice renovation/family project. Very inspiring, I will sure keep watching what's next.
Hi! I think Paris is great but the rural France is even better I guess haha. Thanks so much! Have a great weekend!
a ShopVac would make floor cleanups a lot faster. Also your dogs might wear out and you might have to replace the springs in them.
Ah thanks so much. We do enjoy a lot together thanks! We are very grateful for every day together :)
Just two words....wood filler (at least that's what we call it in America - a form of wood putty).. Enjoy watching you two as you forge ahead with you farmhouse.
Use epoxy with the wood dust for filler
Oh good one. The wood glue worked too but epoxy is maybe even better. Thx. Take care.
The house is coming along nicely...Can't wait to see it finished. That Tractor is getting a lot of air time!! hahaha. I get it... I'm would be the same way!! hahah
Haha we just love the tractor. But next week it’s time for a big brother! Have a great day!
Watching y’all from Alexandria, Louisiana. Love watching the progress♥️♥️♥️
Great to have you with us! Have a great weekend!
Many hugs!! 🙌🙆🏻♂🌟
Is it an ox? That way it can pull equipment, eat the grass and give you fertalizer. Wisconsin, USA.
That's also possible! The affected parts are always pretty low to the ground. Thanks! Take care.
New subscriber...I really enjoy your channel. Is there anything you two can't do? Very impressive. As a senior citizen I could use two handy guys like you at my home in Buffalo, NY USA.
Ah thanks so much. Great to have you with us! Have a great weekend!
You both do it nicely, I like to watch every vlog you post! Greetings from Enschede, the Netherlands
Thanks so much! Have a great weekend in Endschede!
Hello from Ukraine! You inspire me!
Ah thanks so much for saying that!
Reminds me, I need to to Home Depot myself today.
I would love to have a Home Depot here. In the Netherlands we had a Hornbach nearby. That was great too.
I am 82 year old guy from Florida. My husband and I were together for 44 years before he died. I am terribly disappointed that you stopped vlogging at the end of 2023. Do you have the baby yet? Would love to see updated pictures of the farmhouse and the baby girl.
We didn't stopped vlogging!
www.youtube.com/@vangaze/videos
Here you can see all the videos. I think you were in the playlist of our vanlife adventure. That ended but the French house continued!
@@vangaze ❤good job.
Woow, Florida, so far away! Move to France, my parents are 85 and just decided to move to France. We bought a house for them where they can live, near our (2nd) house in France. We, my husband and i (mid 50s) and our dog, live part time in France. It's very nice here.
Please! Rent a floor sander next time !!! :). All that dust :0
Haha we are thinking about it. It was a lot of work but it was ok. Thanks! Take care.
Haha the dogs already have a lot of toys but I'll think about new toys for them too! Thanks. Have a great weekend.
Looking great lads. I’m from Scotland. 🌈✨🧡✨🌈
I Googled; Netherlands restaurants in Florida, none here. Only a cafe in North Miami Beach. Doesn’t look like authentic cuisine. After your mention of the potatoes, I am intrigued on the cultural cuisine.
Great content guys, we love watching the progress on your home, Ian and Mike from suffolk uk 🇬🇧 😀
Thanks so much for being with us. I hope you both have a wonderful weekend!
Haha did we wear a lot of them this week? I can’t do without the tractor now!
Haha wait till next week and you will find out. Have a great weekend.
Ohoh. I moest wel lachen hoor. Our Renovation Project! French Farmhouse.
Fijn weekend!
Things are looking great guys!
Thanks so much!
Hey! Love the vid. Watching from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia
Oeh Saudi Arabia, Never seen that here before. Thanks for letting us know. Have a great weekend!

Hi! Great to have you with us. Have a great weekend!
Is the previous owner still going to clear the forest of all the plastic he dumped? ❤
I don't know. I hope so. I will remind him for sure! Take care.
You’re a lovely couple .. and grafting is in your nature .. your working wonders on this old farm house and when it’s all finished it will look fabulous … so guys what’s your long term plans for the farm … ?
Interested fellow gay from the Uk ✌🏻
Ah thanks so much. We are going to make a couple of apartments in the barns! So we will be building for the next couple of years haha. Take care!
Hello from ❤ Minnesota. USA❤
Hi! Have a great day!
Fijn weekend!
We so enjoy your blog you guys and what a beautiful place you live in France 🇫🇷 we are in Naples, Fl. Where it is constantly humid and hot 🥵 keep it coming your blogs love ❤️ them !
Ah thanks so much for letting us know! We love the place we’ve found! Come to France to escape the heath! See you next Friday! Thanks.
❤👍❤👍❤👍❤
Love your show. Sacramento, CA USA
Thanks! Great to have you with us. Take care.
Hello from New Jersey. Moving to Montpellier in August 🙌🏼
Ah Montpellier is beautiful too! Have fun and please let us know how you like it over there! Take care.
The boys also hav3 two energetic dogs, who would be at least as good a deer deterrent as the fence, IMO.
Haha Luna cant wait :)
I hope it’s some kind of digger! Find any baby bunnies while mowing??
Haha It's the first thing next week! No baby bunnies yet but I'm careful for them :) Have a great weekend!
Boulogne-Billancourt, France
Merci! Bon weekend!
Another technique is to plant the potatoes in a trench, then cover with the soil. Don't forget to fertilize your potatoes, it's not too late. Yours look about as high as mine do that I forgot in the ground from last year.
Yeah that might be a better idea for next year! They are doing pretty well now but they might do even better then. Have a great weekend!
